i am currently running a 9600XT 128mb 500 core 600 memory with an AMD 3000+ oc'd to 3200 speeds with 1 gig of memory.

im trying to build on a large city map which is quite the impossible task. i have to turn all the graphics down to low and run in 800x600. this is like totally unacceptable lol

i have an 4x/8x agp slot so whats the very best agp card i can get that will run sc4 with high detail and fast speeds on a large map????

thanks for any help/advice

I assume that you can run the game relatively smoothly, but the best advice is to have your Virtual Memory to be set about three times the size of your Physical RAM.

i can run the game smoothly on a medium sized map with medium detail on. even when the i fill up the medium sized city it will bog down the computer. i just want to play at ludicrous speed hehehe

i may have to upgrade to 1.5gig of memory and get the best agp card i can

Have you tried disabling background tasks? That may be the cause. In Task Manager, end processes, but not the following:

    - Csrss.exe
    - Explorer.exe
    - Internat.exe
    - Lsass.exe
    - Mstask.exe
    - Smss.exe
    - Spoolsv.exe
    - Svchost.exe
    - Services.exe
    - System.exe
    - System Idle Process
    - Taskmgr.exe
    - Winlogon.exe
    - Winmgmt.exe

Also, you might have some spyware/adware on your computer. Use an Anti-spyware scanner and remover to remove those awful memory-consuming programs.

Try it. I did it before, and it transformed the speed of my computer quite a lot. 1.gif

EVGA just released an 8x AGP version of the 6800GS GPU. The 6800GS is slightly slower than the 6800GT (normally +/- 0-3 FPS difference between the two) and about $50 less. Buy it here .
