Installing Maps

Can someone talk me through installing custom maps for mac?? or direct me to a link that will tell me?

The tutorial you link to is invalid and/or out of date.  SC4Mapper for Mac OSX is not available and according to the replies in the forum it never has been.  It is just a thread explaining that one day they might make it available.

He has it available for download on some other website. I don't see why it can't be just uploaded to the STEX. Wouldn't that be easier for people to use??

When you open up the link, delete everything except the actual URL (get rid of the "go.simtropolis" part), then hit enter a couple of times to go to the actual website instead of that stupid ad. I would suggest downloading Adblock Plus for your browser since it gets rid of the ads that pop up whenever you follow an external link from ST.

Compdude, you just blew my mind.  If you had any idea how many times I've quit a SC4 project in frustration simply because every link I click takes me to adfly.  I've got SC4Mapper for Mac OSX from that site and it works perfectly.  Thanks for the advice
