Newegg has Windows 8 on sale for $29.99 after a $40 rebate, today only. This is the complete retail version of Windows 8 Pro Upgrade on DVDs, not the download. Supposedly, the price goes up to $200 on Friday. SC4 works fine on Windows 8.

Protip: If you decide to get Windows 8, install the following programs to save you from a lot of trouble when using it:

- Pokki Start Menu: a good substitute for the Metro-interface Start Menu Windows 8 has. It brings back a Start button and something that looks similar to the old Start Menu. Believe me, it saves you from a lot of headaches to find everything, even basic things like the Control Panel or the freakin' Shut Down button...

- Mozilla Thunderbird: for those who don't like the new Metro E-mail app - erm - program Windows 8 offers (which doesn't accept all mail providers by the way, including mine), Thunderbird is a good alternative. It's from the creators who brought you Firefox...

- VideoLAN VLC: A basic, but powerful no-nonsense media player. Has a way better UI than the Windows 8 alternative (I used it once; couldn't find the Stop-button, for crying out loud)

All these programs are legally free available on the Internet. This may make your experience with Windows 8 a little more bearable. For me, I use the Desktop for like 97% of the time (only use the mail-app to check my Hotmail and gMail)..
