Custom maps Load as Flat Land?

As the Title Suggest, when I upload custom maps made by other users (such as WildLands NJ in this instance) it just loads as flat land and no water or land outlinings. I put the sc4m and .bmp in the mydocuments/simcity 4 folder, and restarted the game. The game recognizes the "Wildlands NJ" folder in-game but just loads a completely flat land. Have I missed something? I hope I put this in the right section, this is my first thread here, so i am new.

I had the same problem when I was new to downloading maps. :) Don't worry, you're just missing a step.

The download will have a .sc4m file in the folder, but just having it in the folder is not enough. First, you must open up the region in SC4 Terraformer. On the left side of the screen, in global tools, there will be an import image option. Click that and find the .sc4m file mentioned before.

It is pretty straight-forward from here on. ;)

And if you should happen to download a map without a .sc4m file, make sure both of the files you get are in the region folder, open the region and hit CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+r to turn on the renderer. You then choose the gray-scale file (usually a .jpg) to start the renderer.

The terraformer, mapper, and its friends are after market items written by a member. They are quite useful when you can get them to run.

Yes I got it, and about 5 minutes after I DLed it, I got the map to run. Although it opens in bright green in game, after i load the first city all of SC4 textures take over and all is well. :-) Thanks for the assistance.
