PLOP (speaking Simcity 4 terms) means to purposely create a building in Mayor Mode in Simcity 4.

GROWABLE (speaking Simcity 4 terms) means that a building is built through a LOT zoned by the Player in Simcity 4.

BROWN BOXES are missing files in your plugins folder in Simcity 4's directory. They could vary from different kinds of files, most brown boxes are created by dependencies.

A DEPENDENCY (or dependencies) is a/are file(s) that is/are needed to ensure full functionality of a plugin (hence dependency relativity to the word).

btw, Welcome to Simtropolis :)

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

What do I know?

Allow me to add an additional welcome. A walk though this thread will help you quite a bit. Also, have a browse in the Omnibus.

Yes. The majority of the time, dependencies are only things such as props and textures. The lot will (most of the time) function correctly without them, but it won't look right.

The point about dependencies is that they are reusable objects and are often used in several different lots.

Older dependencies can frequently be found in larger 'collected' dependency files although there's no hard-and-fast rule regarding this. If you can't find a live link for a single dependency file then it might be part of a larger one.
