1st quarterly loss ever

...snip.... It includes four of the five biggest cable companies, which have been losing subscribers for years. It also includes phone companies Verizon Communications Inc. and AT&T Inc. and satellite broadcasters DirecTV Group Inc. and Dish Network Corp. These four have been poaching customers from cable, making up for cable-company losses — until now.

Is this a sign of the times? Have you / your family cut back on 'in home' entertainment?

I've been thinking about it. Not counting the business, the phones, tv and internet access add up to over $ 150.00 (CND) a month. 6.gif (Not counting extras like long distance charges, usage overages and roaming.)

What did they expect?

They sell us smart phones instead of a regular cell phones with unlimited data plans and tell us we can do anything on our smart phones,or laptops , even watch TV and Movies surf the net all with a wireless connection. So why do i need to pay 60 bucks a month to watch TV on a TV thru a cable box?

or pay for an over priced landline phone that i dont ever use.

Wonder how much is cancelations due to job loss or just redundant services that get canceled.

or mabey thiers just nothing on worth watching anymore.

Reality Shows and reruns take up 180 of your 200 stations.

they would be in real Deep if the NFL had cancled the season.

I haven't changed TV spending but for somebody just starting out, would you buy channels or just watch your favourite shows online for free? Free or pay, not to hard of a question for most.

most people payed for the conveience of the all in one packages.

TV-Internet- Phone all from the same place as they all had package deals.

Some people have no choice who thier providers are if they want certian services.

its all come back on them for sliceing it all up like they did, some channels, especialy the newer sports ones like NFL network amd MLB network you can only get "free" from certian providers basic packages.and some dont carry these stations at all since they did not get the exclusive deals

the leauges made with the providers.

I do not plan on having a TV or home phone subscription when I live by myself, just cellphone and high speed internet.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3
