work commute a no go?

In some cities I always get this message from a sim: ...work commute a no go.

Is this a bug? I have excellent commute times, a very good transportation system with no traffic jams and enough jobs for every class of Sim society.

I finally sent the sim out of town but there must be another solution to that.

The problem with using the My Sims part of the game is that you may get one looking for a specific job that really is too far, or non-existent in the city. You can move him, or you can kill him. Sims are really designed to frustrate you, so treat them like the never-to-be-sufficiently-damned advisors. Turn them off, turn off UDI, and get on with what the game really is.

Hahahaha!! Well said Nonny Moose! :rofl:

Too bad we can't put THEM in the worst parts of our city to suffer!! :evil:

@ Mido1960:

Seriously, sometimes a MySim couldn't find himself a job even when there was one 5 tiles away with a green stripe of road in-between. Later something occured to me: it shows green, but only because of the NAM which allows much greater traffic. Maybe the game uses its own routine and stats to assign MySims to jobs?

Anyway, I think the MySim feature COULD be fun to play with, but in its ailing (?) state... it's a pool of frustration for me too. Then again I've never been much of a Sim-person (never played other sim-games).

Well, Number One, I have the Sims games and I loaded them once about five years ago, fooled with them a little, discovered it was not my bag, and when I changed machines, I just didn't port them.

The wildly popular Sims games seem to be popular with the teen-aged Barbie and Ken set to a great extent, and as such are in the class of FPS, but with a lot more guts. Adding the My Sims and UDI was a marketing ploy to try to increase sales of SC4 with the Rush Hour release. In a word, foo!

    @A Nonny Moose:

    Ooops, I guess I gotta clean up a possible misunderstanding with my nick. Ichimaru is made up of these characters (according to Bleach Wiki):

    = market, town

    = a preferred suffix in boys' names

    I simply like his character for his calm, collected and devious personality, I don't wish to look conceited or the like.

    About that sales gimmick, trust such a company to do that. I'm reminded of how they called Societies a city building game.

    @Mido1960:

    So in short, we have no clue what to do to get those MySims to work. Sorry. :(

    IchimaruOO: Well that just goes to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I have always believed that ichi is the Nippongo word for One (つ) or First. I don't read character, not even Katakana, but I am intensely interested in languages philologically speaking.

    Naturally, I believe that there are homonyms in any language. Thanks for the lesson.

    @Nonny Moose:

    It's fine, "Ichi" can indeed mean One if written differently. It was my fault for not putting it in my profile sooner, but I fixed this yesterday. So no harm done! :)

    My friend, it is all water under the bridge. One lives and if you don't make mistakes occasionally, you won't learn much.
