    Hi guys --

For over a year I have been playing SC4 on my mac without any major problems... but recently some of my cities have begun to simply crash immediately upon loading. The loading screen will go up but as soon as the city is fully loaded, the game crashes. The weird thing is that it is only one city in particular (the other cities in the region continue to work fine) but this has happened twice, in two different regions, and I have no idea what to do. I've contacted Aspyr but they are so to respond and so far have given me solutions which have not helped (like repairing permissions and reinstalling the software).

Anyone have any idea what may be the problem? I would be forever grateful -- god knows how many hours I've spent on this city and I'd be positively heartbroken if I could never access it again -- but I feel that maybe the save file is corrupt? I can post my latest error log if anyone is tech savvy enough to take a guess as to what is wrong.

    Thanks so much in advance,

    marcos

This happens from time to time. Unfortunately, I know of no solution. I have my SC4 cities folder backed up daily on my Time Capsule, as well as on another Mac, so when this happens, I can restore it. You might be able to get someone to be able to open it on their Windows version, but that would be about the only thing I could thing of to fix it.

I've been running Simcity4 deluxe on both Windows XP and now Windows 7, and frankly no matter what OS it's run on, glitches, bugs and plain annoyances like this continue to happen. And the only real solutions only tend to help, not cure. What you're describing is something that's happened to me as well on my PC. Play a city tile for quite a while, then when you try to open it again, it crashes immediately after loading. The best explanation I can give you is that it's custom content related. Possibly a plugin that was being used in the tile, and you forgot to bulldoze all instances of it before removing it from your plugins. On rare occasions, plugins like that crash the game if it's no longer in the plugins folder. I believe it was a seawall pack for me. This crash thing has also happened with a friend of mine on here. Truth is, the city tile file is "corrupt" and you might as well have to wipe the tile and restart from scratch.

I'm sorry it sounds so devastating, :( especially if you've put a lot of work into that tile. But this is as much I know on the issue.
