Ah, what a lovely, albeit fultile discussion. The initial reactions by some of the participants were correct in their assessment of the church (catholic or any orther brand): doctrines "achieved" over millenia will take more millenia to be changed. The pope's utterances are hardly going to change anything since the layers of hierarchy below him will ensure that nothing is challenged, esecially not by the few sheep still herded into the churches. You cannot alter a system wherein rot is perceived as a building material holding up the structure.
