I think the discussion is going a bit far and disrespect for the work of Sam, 1.gif although I also think that this debate is helpful for improving simcity.

Here is a place to discuss more widely the future of the game. sc4devotion.com/forums/citymania...this guys need help. 19.gif

Just my opinion on what is still a game...BTW, I realy love your work Sam... don't stop BATING! 29.gif18.gif 44.gif

Sorry that I didn't managed to post earlier

Thanks for all these Replies. 1.gif

About T-Wrecks Idea. On itself for sure a nice idea, but as you said it turned into a kind of religious question, what lightrig you are using in 3dsmax. And I don't really think that anybody would change his mind.

However I was trying something with one of my newest blocks. I took to render pictures taken with the different light rigs and added them with photoshop to an old picture from an area with buildings which could surround the BAT later (they are all rendered in gmax I guess). And well however I prefer the right one.

(the scale isn't exactly but I don't think that it matters on this kind of comparison)

However I hadn't much time at the weekend, but I got something small finished in terms of batting. A small elementary school like it can be found everywhere in the former soviet union between the prefab-blocks.

You have no idea how much I have been dieing for soviet era schools to fill in my cities (I especially need them for my Pripiat project). I need as many as I can get, the more shapes and sizes the better. I have been using Japanese schools up to now 3.gif

If I had to pick between either of those two renders in that photoshopped image, I wouldn't chose either. The one on the left has too much contrast/saturation and the one on the right is the opposite i.e. low contrast (the right one also seems very blurry). If I were making them I'd shoot for something in the middle.

We can argue about lighting all day, as long as it looks in game there is no real point in fruitlessly dragging it on. I would suggest using LTBL on your more complicated models like the steel mill and the like (all the complicated piping and things), but for things like this the rig you are using seems fine.
