Well, don't take this as a start-up signal for a 100% functional OlympiaBussar WorkShop again! 18.gif  It's merly a way for me to determine which particular skins are most desirable among SC4-players these days.  It could be one typ, but also all of them.  I just want to know so it'll be a bit easier once I'm into the WorkShop thing again I mean!

Anyway!

There are four images below showcasing examples of my work so far!  They include buses, trains, trams, and aircrafts. Please vote for the type of model you prefer to have more options available, such as more skins!  If you prefer more options for all models, please vote for the fifth option, (All Models)

Vote 1  Bus Models

Vote 2  Train Models

Vote 3  Tram Models

Vote 4  Aircraft Models

Date: 8/3/2005 1:15:32 PM Author: Andreas Roth I think the GLR puzzle pieces desperately need some nice tram models, so I voted for #3. 1.gif

I wholeheartedly agree about the tram models. Nobody's been making vehicle models around here for a long time, though - so I'd like to see more of everything.

    According to all votes so far, I'd say that the option for all models are what people wants! 48.gif

    Nice models! I like the train.

    I think that we need something that looks good both as el rail train and as GLR tram; something like the Eurotram, for example.

    Thanks 6underground! 5.gif  To be honest though, the tram visualized in that image is indeed a work of mine - but...for use with SimCity3000.  I made it a few years ago in order to resemble a typical tram from the city of Gothenburg (where I happen to live).  It's not a perfect copy but the best I could I do at that time!

    Here is the M21 type tram from the city of Gothenburg, (image from railfaneurope)

    align=baseline>

    ...and here's my attempt;

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Poll3.jpg align=baseline>

    ...and how it actually looked in SimCity3000 U/WE;

    <ahttp://web.telia.com/~u31117676/3x1013.gif align=baseline>

    However, if anyone is able to provide me with a suitable 3D-model 2.gif, I'd be happy to skin it!

    Thanks!

    I completely agree!  However, currently I'm modifying my bus skins, and then I attempt to re-skin on of Oppie's train models.  But eventually! 19.gif

    Hmm, is it a better idea to combine the El Train and GLR with somewhat similar models, or should similar models be combined with normal train and El Train?  Or doesn't it matter really!  I mean one type of model for Trains, one for El Trains, and one for GLR?

    I haven't been able to actually have a closer look at this NAM and what it provides due RLS issues!

    Since the GLR uses the same trains of the subway/el rail network (actually, the game engine consider the GLR as an elevated track), we can have a ten cars (or more) consist running on tram tracks 47.gif or, whith a tram automata mod, a tram running on the el rail. So, it would be better to make a model that can look like both an el rail train and a tram.

    Although it would be great have different cars for el trains and trams, I don't think it's possible (you may only have a train shape and a tram shape for the el train engine and cars, and let the game choose randomly between them - this don't solve the problem).

    I belive that there's no need of the same model for normal and el trains: the GLR can be also used as a ground level extension of the elevated lines.

    EDIT: What a mess! My english is so rusty15.gif; I hope you understand what I mean.

    The GLR is an grounded version of the elevated rail as CDB wrote, so any trains for elevated rails shows up on the lightrail tracks and the other way around.

    At the moment I'm working on making a 3d-model, what programs to use and how to get it into the reader. When that is done my plan is to do a version of the eurotram.

    If I can't make that happen finding a way to modifed the 3d-models in another program, I'm will use the reader to add some extra points to pitero's model so it get's a more round front. That be 6 extra points.

    If you look in the General Discussion at page 30, you see a tram of canvas wish I change the pantograph on the roof, so it look more real. It's the same technique I will use to a few more points to piteros Nottingham Tram.

    One need a good overview over what to be done, else it can end up pretty wrong, because on the way the model look pretty wrong.

    On the side I'm looking into the nightlight issue.

    Sure that's possible, one option is too change the verticles via the .DAT in ilive reader, or by importing an already made gmax/s3d model into the .DAT.

    I thought htose trams looked familiar, i have a friend living in Gothenburg. Alskling! (sp)

    18.gif Well, Ikea and Knorr are pronounced differently in the U.K so it was a bit of a surprise when we were all eating dinner and we happened too mention knorr, that the whole thing came up. They were absolutely lovely though, we exchanged (pardon the pun) lost of ideas and bad swear words. They're probably in Sweden using bad Welsh words, and here i am thinkinh of bad Swedish ones. Good experience none-the-less. Your GLR Pics (over in the BAT thread)are highly interesting, more over the ones with the overhead wires,which currently GLR lacks, however i'm investigating the issue right now, perhaps i may be able too add over head wires, i guess i'll find out soo enough10.gif.

    It's sort of been done before, i know Frogface has some overhead GLR Wires, incomplete, but still very impressive. though i do prefer the style in thos pics. See what i can do.

    sorry for hijackign your thread14.gif
