Video issues in SC4

Ok, I just picked up SC4 about a week ago. This is my first SC game in about 15 years. The problems I'm having is the video produces jaggies that go across the screen, toolbar will flash in and out very fast while I'm working in it and when scrolling items will blur together or stay in that part of the screen even though the town is moving. Here is my rig:

AMD64 X2 4000+ 64bit

Gigabyte M61P-S3

8gig (4x4gig dual channel) DDR2 800 G.Skill

XFX Nvidia 8600 GT 256meg 128bit

Driver 8.17.11.9621

DirectX 11

WD 120gig Sata (53.7gig free of 111gig )

Windows 7 HP 64bit

Acer x223w 22" widescreen LCD

I've tried a few of the tricks I've read here, turned shadows to low, setup a custom nvidia profile, tried both hardware and software mode, tried lower resolutions (problems actually seemed worse on lower res). All to no avail. Here are the nvidia settings I'm using:

Anisotropic Filtering: off

AA - gamma correction: off

AA - mode: off

AA - Setting: none

AA - transparency: off

Max pre-rendered frames: 0

Multi-display/mixed GPU Accl.: Single display performance mode

Texture Filtering - anisotropic sample.. : off

Texture Filtering - Negative LOD bias: clamp

I really want to get into this game, but when I scroll and those lines fill the screen, or my toolbar flashes in and out, its hard to play. Any idea's?

**edit**

Here is a pic of one of the problems. I can never get a screen cap of the jaggies that appear, they disappear too quickly.

Well, I found the problem. I thought I had the most current video card drivers, found out I didn't. Updated to newest drivers and problem fixed.

Ok, only one problem now. When I use my mouse to zoom out SC4 will sometimes crash to desktop. It will pause, then it goes to desktop with windows telling me the program is not responding. I do not know if this is a video issue, game issue or what. I have plenty of memory, a good vid card, and this is frustrating.

    Hi Tanis!

I think it'd be best if you didn't use the mouse wheel to zoom, because if it accidentally zooms out quickly twice, the game won't have time to render the first zoom out, which MAY cause crashes (= I'm guessing). Use +/- instead and wait after each for the game to finish rendering.

I've got a ten year old machine btw but my game never crashes. (P4 cpu, Win XP, etc lol)

See if you set up your dual core proci well to run sc4 - there's a thread about this somewhere I think.

    Good luck!
