Game installs very weird

So I just bought this game at an EB and popped it in to install. I am running windows 7, but that seems to not be an issue for the game compatibility from what I have found and read online.

I click the install button on the autorun and it proceeds to install. however, as stated on the quick start sheet in the cd case, I should have been prompted for my CD key during installion. I was not. So it finishes installing and says it worked fine. Nothing new pops up in my start menu to show new programs or anything. I was not asked if I wanted to make a shortcut or anything.

And on top of that I get an error when I load the game and try to register. the error states "specified user already waiting from validation. please specify new info or retry later".

after a dozen or so uninstall/reinstalls I have not found a solution. Any ideas? Thanks

I had also problems with installing. I still dont know what the problem is but i found a sollution. Install the game on another computer, copy the folder on a portable harddisk, copy the files on you're own computer en play the game.

That worked for me..

Cool. Thanks for the suggestion Ramses, I will give it a shot right now. If anyone else has any other ideas I would still love the help, I really wanna give this game a try!

This is highly illegal to do as it is a violation of MC (and almost everyone else's) Terms of Service. To move these files from one computer to another would be circumventing licensing protections and is something that is VERY frowned upon on this site.

I'm running Windows 7 64 and the game installed just fine for me. I had to register my game key on their website, not during the install process. Try going to Citiesxl.com and find the registration area. This is the proper, legal way to do it.
