Tropico III's release is in a month. To celebrate, I made a fully-functional banana republic in Tropico I, which is probably not something you often get on Simtropolis. I aimed for realism, and used my usual photo effects. The island is ran as me (the dictator is me, with exactly my attributes). This is just a one shot for now, but when Tropico III comes out it's possible I'll continue this thread.Enjoy, and thanks for taking the time to check this out.

I'm obviously more limited here due to the graphical limitations of the game compared to SC4, which is unfortunate.

L'Ile des Cardinaux

L'Ile des Cardinaux (Cardinal Island) was named in honour of two French cardinals of the 17th century.  It remained a backwater French colony with a negligable population until 1950, when, due to its total uselessness in every way, it was cut off of the French colonial empire. In it's first elections in January 1950, the Canadian-Cardinalais professor [Evil Weasel] was elected for his pro-western, Capitalist platform. Charismatic, scholary, penny-pinching and devout, he would lead the country until his death in 2043, at the ludicrous age of 133.

The first thing anyone sees upon arriving at the island is the airport, located in the northern suburbs of the capital, la Cité des Cardinaux. Beside it stands the 'Stade' (no official name was given to it), home of the country's national football [soccer] team since 1972.

La Cité des Cardinaux is by far the largest settlement on the island, and the capital city. It was founded in 1679 but remained a small hamlet until the boom in the 1950s. It contains three cigar factories- the island's main export.

La Centrale Metropolitaine (the Metropolitain Power Plant) powers most of the city. Located near it the north-central neighbourhood are the islands newspaper and radio installations as well as the Resto Metropolitain. The Plage St Martin (the bottom left) is the richest area.

Downtown Cité des Cardinaux is located near the original harbour, centred around the Palais Gouvernemental, the Université Nationale and la Cathédrale de la Résurrection. The smaller church is the original, built in the mid 1700s, and is the oldest building currently standing on the island.

The east side contains the diplomatic and bureaucratic centre of the city, including the foreign ministry and the department of immigration. Farther east are residential areas, then an infamous concrete banlieue of cheap housing.

The city's only housing projects are named after the nearby fields, les Champs de Nicot, and are one of the densest and poorest areas in the caribean islands. They lie at the east edge of the city.

The only other settlement that could be called a city is Les Cabines. Originally a collection of cabins belonging to construction workers working on tourist hotels, the area grew in the 1990s to include a powerplant, a church, and a few pubs. The newly constructed city is boring, dumpy, and has the highest crime rate in the country.

One of several rural farming villages, Fermeneuve is home several farmers. Most farmers however, life in the city's housing projects and walk out the country to work. Areas like Fermeneuve tend to be boring and isolated.

Aptly named 'Paradis' is a massive resort that is the island's second biggest money maker. Tourists can stay in a hotel, or fork over the extra cash to have their own private luxery cabin on the beach. A caberet, nightclub and spa keep the money rolling into the island.

This isn't a SC4 CJ, which means it doesn't belong in this section of the forums.

Not saying this doesn't have nice images, just saying this thread should be moved.

I'm the 'A' to the 'r', to the c-h-e-a-n,
and even though my name means 'old' I'm really quite pimp,
I'm Archilicious.

Where's it supposed to go? The new forum layout confuses me.
