Independence City

hey all!!

 

This is my second journal after the first one was mistakinly erased.....This City Journal is called Independence City!

 

New Pics, New Font, and A New Attitude just for all of u!

 

Well anyway....This region was made without any cheats and do u one mod (darker water) 

 

Well lets kick things off with a region pic

 

Yea i kno its not a complete region, but as I said in the Toler County Journal, I terraform as I go.

 

Well lets see a pic of a very young Downtown Independence City

To CUT down pollution and cost from that nasty Coal Power Plant. Highly recommend you to get the Buggi Mark VI Windblaster Power Plant. It is sparkling clean,gives off ZERO pollution and it also gives the same amount of power as a Hydrogen Power Plant. The downside is will cost you 25,000 simoleons, but think about, your city that size will only cost you around 300 simoleons. Just go to the MODS and look for Buggi Mark VI WinbdBlaster and download this file to your plugin folder under Simcity 4 folder. Its a great way to start your city on the right foot to a great future.

well heres an update of my region

 

Here is the populated part of Independence City (Downtown and Avalanche City you can tell the difference)

 

Region pop.- 241,983

Avalanche City- 135,626

Independence City- 106,357

well i know there isnt that much realism in these cities but thats ok. I wanted to do a few regions and get used to the game before i started real regions. But this region is alot closer (or im trying to get it closer) than Toler County on realism.

i worked pretty hard on Avalanche City and it had its bouts with finacial troubles but i came through tho....

Well let's turn it over to the man that will be giving u the Up-Close and Personal series, KC Taylor!

Thanks thatmonkeysim!! and here is Up-Close and Personal: Independence City

in this series i plan to give you pretty much everything you need to know about a city.  Welp, let's get started!

This is going to be the downtown area of Independence but right now its the start of a busling city with over 100K sims.

Here is the most populated area for jobs in the city. This district is Downtown/Grave Park. Grave Park is a memorial ground for all the sims that had fought in the war against Toler County and lost their lives. In the complex there is a High School (Grave Park High), a Zoo (Independence City Regional Zoo), the WSAZ Channel 3 News Station, the Diesase Control Center, many parks, a library,  2 Churches, and 2 Cemetaries. All these things have attracted big business to the area.

This is Midtown which few block north of Downtown this is where alot of sims work that are in the middle class. Midtown was the old Downtown until bigger businesses moved southward.

This is the oldest part of town, Uptown. Uptown is the Northrem most part of Independence Island and is where the East and West Stone Rivers meet. This is where alot of the sims that dont go to downtown come for fun. With Uptowns many parks and plazas the is fun for the whole family.

This is the Southside, which is the most densely populated part of the city. About 95K sims live here. With all the high-rises one would except high traffic and pollution. Well you maybe wrong there is no traffic promlems here and the pollution is about as bad Charlotte, NC on a bad Rush hour day.

Here is the newest part of Independence City and its gonna probably be the new Downtown Area. It has Independence City State University, their Staduim, and a Country Club.

Here is where the smartest of sims work the Industrial Complex filled with almost all High Tech

Here is where all of the power for the city comes from the Toler Memorial PowerStation. Its the Cleanest sorce of power in the region.

That's one of the best downtowns I've ever seen. I could bet my life that it was cheated ... but no ... and that's just great = )

NO CHEATS WERE USED!!!!!!!

i just added a few plaza and parks and let it set for about 50SY (SimYears) and thats what happened as you can see there isnt that much different from the stating city to the last update and i didnt add that many zones. I just kept the $$R and the $$$R demand up by lowering the taxes and when they needed jobs the C boomed!! (well after i lower their taxes too) but thats how i pretty much do all my cities and i get pretty much the same result!!!

well i cant put any posts up cuz im at my cousins today so look for it tommorow but i will still be here to ask questions and comments.....

Wow the Mountain is really amazing. And with the city on top of it, as a sim i would probably freeze to death. Anyway, this is a very promising region, i'm very curious of the update.

LOL well as a monkeysim i think that the people of Avalanche City have the warmth thing cover with heated roads and a cup of hot chocolate at every corner !!
o and the mountain is my first just wait until i get the hang of it remember i had the game only 3 weeks


also for dig1tal i have to say this......
it didnt use cheats but this region is only on easy

i kno thats bad but im trying to get hang of the game before i try higher levels

Independence city has a nice downtown, but it's too repetitive IMO.

I like the terrain, however the borders of Avalanche City, which seems impressive BTW, are too visible.

Up-Close and Personal: Avalanche City

(sorry about the picture quality the city is just that big!!)

 

Here is the famous Avalanche City with over 200K sims. Only 100SYs ago this was a small winter resort but the nice weather and skiing and the side of Mt. Nieve Profunda made people want to stay. But just 10SYs ago this large city was in a depression because there was no jobs to find but there was a high R demand. So some of the city still looks bad. But the city was still able to provide the heated roads and Hot Choco at every corner to keep peoples spirts up.

This is the Westside also known as The Spainsh Harlemhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>. The reason why they call it that is because over 1/2 of the Latino population lives here. But just because it has the name Harlem in it doesnt mean that there is crime, low education and health, this Harlem has the complete oppisite! Ever sim here is a CEO or top Excutive at a major company. (People from Harlem dont send me bad PM's cuz i have family there and thats just a stariotypehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/23.gif>)

  

Those last two pictures are of the famous Northside. Northside is full shopping districts and tourists attractions.

Like the Cenntinial Tower, Winter Resort, and the Twin Insurance Towers. The Winter Resort is where the old Ski Resort was when the city started and everysim that stops in Avalanche City has to stop there to see all the Old Llama pictures and Old Skiis that were used back 100 SYs ago.

The Cenntinial Tower was started in SY75 and was completed Dec. 31, SY99 at 11:59PM and was the center piece of the 100th SY of the Avalanche City New Years Party. The Twin Insurance Towers although new (built in SY 96) have become the most recognizeable structures in Independence City.

This is Uptown. All I can say is that the cloverleaf on E1 is one of the busiest intersections in Independence City.

 

This is Downtown. This where 75% of the sims work and play there is not much to talk about here but the famous rush hour traffic jams. No matter what Mayor Tyler does there is alway too much traffic and the sims rejected a plan to build a monorail over some of the historical structures of the Downtown, and a Subway system failed.
