One Tile

I seem to be getting contradicting information.

Does a single tile equal 16 x 16m (in that case a city of 256 x 256 would equal 4096 x 4096m or does a single tile equal 8 x 8m (in that case a 256 x 256 m city equals 2048 x 2048m)?

In the case of 8x8, this would be true:

Not sure where to ask this so I'm asking it here. Thanks in advance.

Yes each tile is equal to 16 metres by 16 metres. The game isn't really the most realistic when it comes to scaling in my opinrion but those are the standardised measurements for most BATters out there.

From what I understand it's generally accepted large city square = 16 square kilometres

Thanks. I agree the game is not the most realistic for scaling.

No I do not think that a large city tile is 16km2, one small tile on a grid is 16m2

Just posting to clear up what stormscape stated

Actually, stormscape is right.  Area = length x width.  An individual tile (16x16) is actually 256m2, 1 small city is 1km2, 1 medium city is 4km2 and 1 large city is 16km2 .

Ahahaha there is no way that many buildings that are that wide can fit in a city as small as the smallest city-size

Privately, I wonder whether it would be possible to have a "modular" city size. Like you know how when you create the regions, you can set their size? I wonder if that could be implemented?

It may help those with slower PCs and those who want to experiment with REALLY big cities.
