Well dig1tal, I am a realist builder, so I guess I'll take that as a compliment. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif> And just like the United States did, the region of Binsur will have a westward movement. An updated region shot will come soon. So, here goes.
The crowd in the ballroom applauded at Mackenzie's presentation of Binsur. Mr. Herd III, came to the front.

Well now we will continue with Seacrest. Tom, would you do the honors?

Tom Anderson, mayor of Seacrest, gets up to the podium.

    Hello all, and welcone to...
    /idealbb/files/Title2.jpg
Seacrest is a picturesque city on the banks of the Binsur Sea. It is Binsur's second oldest city.
    /idealbb/files/s12.jpg
This is the main residential area of Seacrest, even though the convention center and some commercial buildings are present.
    /idealbb/files/s10.jpg
Here is one of the richer areas. The shore is very close and the rich like to relax there and at the nearby golf course.
    /idealbb/files/s20.jpg
A close-up shot of some of the newer Seacrest high-rises near the Seacrest Zoo.
    /idealbb/files/s19.jpg
The home of the Seacrest Seamen, McKinley Stadium. I-1 is the highway behind the stadium. BR 23 is the avenue to the left.
    /idealbb/files/s18.jpg
This is the junction among I-1, BR 23, and BR 1A, right next to the stadium.
    /idealbb/files/S32.jpg
This is the interchange between BR 23 and BR 101, known locally as Malfunction Junction. Over 10,000 cars use this combination of roads daily. Studies are being done right now to determine how to fix the interchange. It is possible that BR 101 may be upgraded to a highway as part of the reconstruction.
    /idealbb/files/s62.jpg
Well, this shot proves the Malfunction part. It's quite self-explanatory.
    /idealbb/files/s42.jpg
Here is a shot of downtown, including the building that we are in right now.
    /idealbb/files/s111.jpg
Here is the center of low-wealth development. A minor-league stadium can also be seen.
    /idealbb/files/S52.jpg
Unfortunately, the new low-wealth development has caused some traffic problems on CR 145. Most cars use this way to head to Farley City's industrial complex. Studies are also being done to improve this as well.
    /idealbb/files/s9.jpg
Here is a night shot of the Seacrest Memorial Bridge, It carries BR 101 across the Henson Inlet, connecting downtown with Henson Island. It was upgraded from four lanes to six to acommodate future traffic needs./idealbb/files/s14.jpg
Here is a shot of the bridge at midspan.
    /idealbb/files/s17.jpg
Here is the southern part of Henson Island. The island is shared with New North Binsur. Many high-wealth residents reside here.
    /idealbb/files/s81.jpg
This shows City Hall, the major train station, and the police and fire headquarters along BR 101. Traffic is quite heavy.
    /idealbb/files/S23.jpg
Here is the North Binsur Space Center, a major tourist attraction along BR 1A.
    /idealbb/files/s16.jpg

    /idealbb/files/s13.jpg

Here are shots of the airport and new high-tech industry that have developed.

    /idealbb/files/map19.jpg

Lastly, here is a rough sketch of the major roads in Seacrest. Notice the faded-out I-101 sign and the dotted line. This is a proposed highway that will act as a bypass of the original Coastal Highway (BR 101). However, considering the development, this project may be very difficult to build.

This is Seacrest in the region of Binsur.

    Hmmm.... What is the tech-difficulty?

    Anyway, a comment!
I am taking the opposite view of dig1tal, and saying that it looks very nice. Pretty realistic too. Please fix that problem and update!

Hey all. Thanks for the comments, and sorry for the long time between updates. I am a very busy person. Also, I have decided to abandon the story format, because it seems to be going nowhere. Sorry, I am no frogface, but at least I tried. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/12.gif>  Anyway, here goes. Welcome to...

    /idealbb/files/FCTitle.jpg

Here is an overview of Farley City and the names of the cities that border it. The highway running through is I-1.

    /idealbb/files/FC3.jpg

Here is the intersection of CR 112 and CR 115 at the northeasr corner of the city near City Hall. This is where Farley City all started, originally serving as a suburb of nearby New North Binsur.

    /idealbb/files/FC1.jpg

I-1 is the major artery through Farley City, connecting it with New North Binsur to the north and Seacrest and other points south. About 1000 cars use it to get to New North Binsur.
    /idealbb/files/FC4.jpghttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/FC4.jpg border=0>

Another reason the city was founded was because of Mount Farley, situated in the center of the city. Extensive mining was done in the mountain in the early 1800s. Two tunnels still exist today. Today, they are used for express car traffic to quickly get from one end of the city to the other. Here is one of those tunnels, now labeled CR 117.

    /idealbb/files/FC9.jpg

Here is the other end of that tunnel as it leads right into Market Square, home to many small and trendy shops.

    /idealbb/files/FC5.jpg

Here is the other tunnel, running perpendicular to the first. Also seen is some hi-rise residental development, which is occurring at spots all over the city.

    /idealbb/files/FC2.jpg

Here is the other end of the 2nd tunnel, at Courthouse Circle.

    /idealbb/files/FC6.jpg

Here is more hi-rise development along I-1.

    /idealbb/files/FC7.jpg

    An overview of Mt. Farley.

    /idealbb/files/FC8.jpg

    Some more high-wealth commercial development.

    /idealbb/files/FC11.jpg

This is probably the single most used train station in the entire region. I don't know why. Just thought I would end on that.
From now on, I will try to get at least one update in weekly, so be patient. Can you please reply saying which city you want me to do next of the cities listed on the Farley City overview?

    Your choices are:
    Auckland
    Blairstown
    New North Binsur

Anyway, since noone commented, I've decided to do a regional update. Hopefully, I'll get it up by tomorrow or Saturday. Four new cities have been created and one will be destroyed. Which one will it be, you ask?

Geez, thatmonkeysim. I think I'm gonna have to start calling this the Most Obscure CJ

Anyway, here comes a regional update.

    Binsur Population Hits 2,000,000!!!

    /idealbb/files/Binsur-1080963263.jpg

Binsur Region has hit a major milestone in its short history. It has hit 2,089,954 Sims! The city of Binsur has hit over 509,000 Sims, now surpassing New North Binsur. And half of the city is still undeveloped. The orange cities are new or are being planned. As you can see, the city of South Binsur Bay has been deleted. I felt that a farming city smack in-between two major cities didn't make much sense, so I am going to replace it with a medium-density suburban city and have the name shortened to South Binsur. Early screenshots of South Binsur will come tomorrow.

    /idealbb/files/South21.jpg

And here is a transportation shot. South Binsur will come tomorrow.

Here comes the next update. A few of the pictures are pixelated, so sorry about that.
    Welcome to.../idealbb/files/SB8.jpg

South Binsur will be a major suburban city serving Binsur City, South Andover, and the industrial and farming towns of Rancho Cucamonga and Hangtown. As you can see, there are a lot of highways, mostly for regional traffic. I have also officialy ran out of spur numbers for I-1, so I had to make an I-1101.

MrVegetable: It is somewhere in the Simtropolis LEX. I gotta see if I can find the creator later...

Sorry for the long time between updates. The next one will come either later tonight or tomorrow.

*EDIT: On the third picture of the last update, you may notice a faded-out BR 108 sign. This is because the Downtown/BRX Freeway (BR 108 ) in Binsur City has been extended to I-1. So I decided to change the name of the freeway to I-401 to create a direct route from I-1 in South Binsur to downtown Binsur City.*

I like the city. Is it me or is it that the blue signs that represent route 117, 112, and 115 look like the signs for local routes in New Jersey?

Sorry. It looks like I'm having more problems with my 996 P3 256 MB Ram dinosaur, Dodge44. Hopefully, once I get my sister's 2.6 Ghz P4 once she gets back from college, things will go a lot faster.

CR 502 (Closter Dock Rd.) in Alpine. However, I've seen these signs in Rockland County, NY as well. I don't think they're limited to New Jersey...

Sorry for the long time between updates, but here comes South Binsur: Part II
    /idealbb/files/SB01.jpg
The population has hit about 79,000. Here is an updated city shot at night.
    /idealbb/files/SB131.jpg
Here is the updated shot of the original city. The city is progressing nicely in its 59th year.
    /idealbb/files/SB14.jpg
Here is a shot of the newer areas of South Binsur. The newly-built A elevated subway connects Binsur City's subway system with South Andover's subway system. About 5000 passengers use the subway every day.
    /idealbb/files/SB06.jpg
Here is the transfer station between the A subway and the Eastern Railway. About 10,000 Sims use the transfer station.
    /idealbb/files/SB10.jpg
The junction between CR 111 and I-401, known as the Thurxton Junction. CR 111 will multiplex with I-401 and go into Binsur City.
     /idealbb/files/SB11.jpg
The home of the South Binsur Bayhawks, near the 111 shopping district. More on that and more tomorrow...

nice job, you've obviously spent alot of time on this and it shows. i like how you didn't get discouraged by the lack of comments and just kept plugging away. i know some people would probably just give up. i have the same problem getting comments on my CJ. one thing is it helps to do regular updates whether or not you get replies because otherwise they get burried and forgotten. of course needless bumping is a no-no but as long as you have something worth while to share i see no problem with that.3.gif

Hi.  Long time Yankees fan, first time visitor to this journal.  The region as a whole looks good so far, even if it looks sort of unfinished and incomplete, but your cities are realistic and look fantastic visually.  I like the randomness of the road layouts.  It's one of the more non-griddy cities here. 51.gif

Thanks for the comments, once again. Here's Part III:
    /idealbb/files/SB023.jpg
Here is the CR 111 strip, full of both offices and retail stores. It is by far one of the best places to shop in the South.
    /idealbb/files/SB024.jpg
Some high-wealth shops near the Stadium.
    /idealbb/files/SB021.jpg
Some of the newer retail near the railway transfer station.
    /idealbb/files/SB025.jpg
Some shots of the rapidly developing new downtown. Buildings are sprouting up like weeds.
    /idealbb/files/SB026.jpg
Here is a shot of the new hospital (newly downloaded from simcity.com) I will use this in many more future cities.
    /idealbb/files/SB020.jpg
    More development near I-401.
    /idealbb/files/SB161.jpg
The next 3 shots show some of the low-density (mostly upper-class) development. The mayor felt that some low-density would add some character to the city and be an integral part of a major suburb.
    /idealbb/files/SB171.jpg

    /idealbb/files/SB15.jpg

    /idealbb/files/SB18.jpg
Lastly, here is a shot of the newest part of the city, now being developed between Interstates 1,301, and 1101.
I'm on spring break, so that means more updates, more often! So Rancho Cucamonga, Hangtown, Catskill City, and maybe the new city of Tompkins Gorge will come by this weekend. Thanks for the comments. Keep on coming! 1.gif

This looks interesting.  I'm thinking of trying highways in my next region since I haven't used them before.   What does your traffic looks like?  I like your highway numbering system but are they being used?  Are the other roads congested?

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Sorry for the lack of updates. My sister has come back from college with her more powerful computer, and I am currently transferring files to it. It will take a while. But once I get it running again, the pictures will be in a higher resolution, making it easier for you to see.

Skigeek: In the bigger cities like Binsur City and Riverdell City, traffic can get quite bad. But not all the highways are being used as much as they should be. In South Binsur, the heaviest-used highway is actually I-1 and I-1101. It is all regional traffic headed for Hangtown (I'll get to that later.) It has between 7000 to 10,000 cars. How have you not used highways before? I hope your region is all rural. 9.gif

TMS: Actually, it is quite similar to the United States Interstate System (with the exception of the main highways, which are numbered a bit differently...
