I need to know what's the difference with the vocabulary used in download items.

What is a LOT as opposed to PROP?

What is Plopable and Grows/Growable?  Do these mean that I can sellect this file from side menu and put in my city, or wait till it appears on its own when the environment allows it?

What should I know regarding B.A.T. as opposed to not being a B.A.T.?

How do all these type of files modify my city or allow me to interact with my city.

I love Sim City -- it left all my other games covered by a layer of dust!!!

Welcome to Simtropolis:

A Lot is a complete plot consisting buildings, fauna, decor, and ground tiles.

A Prop is an object used to enhance the appearance of a lot, excluding the building itself and the ground tiles.

A Ploppable building is a lot can be placed directly in the game without having to zone for it to grow, whilst...

A Growable is the opposite, where you have to zone for it to grow (some lots take time to construct or require certain levels of demand, population, etc.)

A BAT is a building or other structure created with the Building Architect Tool, which is a tool used to create custom buildings.

Overall these types of files in your Plugins folder (normally in My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins) adds variety or enhancements to the city/region or modifies the behavior of the simulator, perhaps to be a bit more realistic or different. one significant add-on is the Network Addon Modd, which is designed to add extra transport options and improve most things transit-related. This can be found at https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=380. The Simtropolis Exchange at https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1 contains downloadable custom content made by other members of this site.

If you're interested we have a glossary at https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=110&threadid=77311 .

Once again welcome to Simtropolis.

A LOT is the piece of simcity land a building sits on. This is where sidewalks, grass, and the like are. A PROP is something that goes on the LOT like a sign depicting a business name, or a fence circling the property.

You are absolutely right about the difference between ploppable and growable.

Finally, a BAT is anything that is made using the Building Architect Tool.

These points most likely can be elaborated on... which I'm sure someone else will do for you eventually... I hope this helps

whoops! Tiamay beat me to the punch... better explanations too... There is a dictionary btw... but I couldn't locate the link... anyway check out the omnibus for all sorts of helpful stuff.

Thanks a lot. I tried NAM before -- someone put a lot of work into it -- GREAT STUFF -- Thanks for that. This is the only game (thanks to downloads) that can make your experience as unique from everyone else as the real life itself (maybe I'm pushing it a bit).

Hi! I have a problem with NAM: when i install it, the transport facilities on rail (train, GLR, monorail) goes wrong, only the subway works. And the rails cut off the roads even. There is a railway-road crossing, and the cars simply can't go through! If anybody can help me, please! Thx!
