Well, I thought this thread needs a bump.

And since I'm at it, I might as well post a picture 4.gif. It's from Sterling, the biggest town in my region. It currently has a population of just above 15.000.

Very nice choice of architecture and design. Even the houses of the coast looke nicely snug in the forest!

    Phil,

That is wonderfully done, well observed from real life towns and beautifully managed in simcity. I have seen hundreds of towns in the past 6 years of SC4's existance and rarely (maybe even never...) seen one detailed like this.

Downtown is perfect and with the housing around it, it just looks more real than real itself, including the park trails near the coast/waterfront, the coastal management near downtown, the rails that look like they have been there way before the first settlement and the bordering farms.

Honestly ...Hats off...I rarely see something that well reproduced with SC4 like this......Are there any more pictures of that region to see somewhere else?  Stupid me, I just went to see your CJ...

Just great, if you take the time to look at all the details.

    Thank you so much everyone.

mrb: thanks a lot for that great compliment. It gives me the feeling that what I tried to do is working. The region is loosely based on Burlington, VT. I got a lot of inspiration from looking at Google satellite views of the region and other areas of New England and the northern US in general. I found these are useful for the planning... but not necessarily for the feel. It's amazing how certain areas have developed kind of a life of their own while playing. It's like the organic growth I'm achieving really starts to translate into the game.

Hey! I like the pictures you posted. I'm not that great at Sim City 4. My teacher is assigning it as a project and we have to build a city ground up. I was looking for an average city 10,000 or more people with a budget surplus, minimal pollution, etc. If you could send me one of your cities, I could paypal you a small payment of 15-20 bucks depending on if I could personalize the city you sent. Please e-mail me at LSalman5@gmail.com if you can do this. I would appreciate a city without any mods or cheats.

    Thanks

Thanks heres a small farm town I just started working on its sort of self explanatory Jefferson fields, for the farm fields around it. It has all the bare basics in shopping and there is even a farmers market that happens every sunday and the block off the resedential street just to do it.

    Jensoncounty-Nov29021230052219.png picture by DanielCote

Oh and that pink house up at the top on spruce street is up for sale just call me if you're intrested.

The house you see for sale has a 2x2 property lots of room if you want to expand have a gazebo green house or pool. Frank an old man always mows every body's lawns once a week for free because its his wierd hobby. The master bead room has a small balcolny and the only fixer upper part of it is the ugly 1970's bar downstairs.

@ steelersfanforlife: What I like about your town is that it's quite secluded... you might wanna work on the transition between the town and the woods thiugh. As it is now, it's too abrupt which is rather unrealistic. Also, your town is missing a focal point. Even small towns have some kind of center such as a park, church or market place. It looks like a subdivision right now.

@ danielcote: I like your town, very nice waterfront and camp site. I like your archiectural mix at Dry Docks. Also the little point looks very nicely developed. Your rural settings look very good too, nice details.

@ danielcote: I'd say option A. Nice developments! I don't have anything new to show, except from some farmland... but as soon as I've done some new towns, I'll post them.

@ GamerOS: I actually like the attempt.
