My Documents Folder

G'day again,

If I delete everything that I downloaded from SImtropolis in the Documents folder (BUT the Simcity 4 folder, gmax, lot editor and BAT) and keep everything that's in the Plugins folder, is that likely to have a negative affect on the game's behaviour itself? Is that likely to stuff anything up? Or should I keep everything in the Documents folder and not delete its contents?

The space in my C Drive is filling up and I need to delete some stuff. I'm running my game on the Windows Vista 32-bit system.

Yes I'm pretty sure it would have a negative effect on the game. The game puts those files there because it needs them. That's where your region files are kept for example, so deleting that would mean you would lose all your regions and cities among other things. Also if there's so little space that you have to think about removing those files then the game is probably not going to have enough space to even save the cities and region you are playing.

If you really need to save space I would suggest removing to backup DVD any regions you think you won't be using any more. You might have to prune your plugins, but really they don't take up much space in the grand scheme of things. Maybe you should also look at uninstalling any software that you are no longer using.

But really, you may as well go and buy an extra hard drive. I don't think they are all that expensive these days. If your computer is that short of space, then it won't be many weeks before you have filled up any space you gain from removing files and you'll be back in the same situation again.
