Trouble running on MacBook

I had to reinstall SimCity 4 recently because  my hard drive failed.  Before it failed, SimCity 4 ran nicely, but now I have a new hard drive installed, it won't even start (I receive a message saying that the application unexpectedly quit). Any suggestions why it would do that?

Go to Aspyr.com and download the Universal Update for SC4. Beyond that, you may want to try repairing permissions. After that, I'd remove the Application's Folder, and its support folder in your Documents folder then reinstall (and re-add you plug-ins).

THANK YOU. I didn't know there was any universal patch for it.. Maybe I'll finally buy Deluxe lol, as I removed my bootcamp partition long ago, and am feeling like playing SC4 these days.. Seems like it's in beta, but I'll take beta over slow LOL Patrix

The UB patch is NOT any faster than running the PPC version under Rosetta. I have no idea why that's the case, as you would think that the processor-intensive stuff like the pathfinding engine would speed up, but it doesn't. In fact, the UB patch seems to cause more problems than it solves. Unfortunately, SC4 is just plain slow on a Mac. That's partly Aspyr's fault, and partly Apple's (for their OpenGL drivers). If you have the Windows version, consider Crossover Games. It's VERY fast and fluid, but I had some graphics glitches that stopped me from pursuing it any further.
