Assuming you have a normal keyboard, press the "Prnt Sc"/"Prnt Scrn"/"Print Screen" key at the moment you want to. Close down the Sims 2, open up an image editing programme such as Microsoft Paint or The GIMP, and press paste (edit menu). The image should appear. Crop the image to the area that you want, and the size has to be no more than 80 pixels by 80 pixels). Save it. Then go to your Profile options, and upload that image.

^^^well put, but a couple extra notes:

If you want to use an image as an avatar on Simtropolis, it will have to be in either jpeg or gif format. The forum software doesn't support png, unfortunately. Since a screenshot from TS2 will without a doubt have more than 256 colors, gif is out since the pallete will need to be reduced. And since jpeg will noticeably dither it unless you save at 100% quality, that means no using MS Paint either (well, you could, but then you'd make people's eyeballs bleed). So, use GIMP (or Photoshop, if you have it), and save it in jpeg format at 100% quality (MS Paint saves it at 85% automatically and doesn't give you any option to change that).

And if you're not comfortable attempting that yourself, or you don't have either of those programs, just take the screenshot, save it in png format with MS Paint, upload it to Imageshack or someplace like that, post a link to it here, tell me what part of the image you want as an avatar, and I'll do it for you. Because I'm in a good mood today. 1.gif

You will do that for me? Thanks, here is the link to the image: http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/1651/meci5.png I dont have photoshop or any of those programs, and I am not good with editing this kind of stuff 4.gif , I would rather have the whole picture big enouph to see but if that is a no-can-do, just crop out most of the background and get my face with my thumbs up. -Thanks!

Hmm... was the filesize of that image by any chance larger than 1.5 megabytes? Because that's Imageshack's maximum size and anything larger will be automatically sized down. A lot. The image you just linked to is 100x82 pixels, and looks like this (converted to 100% jpeg):

    meci5aj1.jpg

Yeah, that's the size it ended up as. I presume it was bigger when you saved it? Now, we have a choice to make. 80x80 pixels worth can still be cropped out of that. And that gives us this:

    meci580pxxk7.jpg

If that's good enough for you, then just use that and we're done. If you want something more zoomed in, you'll need to try uploading the file to someplace that will take a bigger file, like MediaFire. That won't result in an auto-resize and then I'll be able to work with the full size image.

Hey, no problem. A quick crop and convert takes all of 60 seconds... and 30 of them are waiting for the GIMP to load.

If you're interested, you might want to check it out. It's free.
