Hi everybody, anyone out there who has a digital camera and has experianced the "lens error restart camera" error, did you fix it your self or did you send it in to get fixed? If you fixed it yourself please tell me how you did it. I dropped my camera with the lens out and now when I turn it on the lens wont come out and it just says the error on the screen. PLEASE HELP ME! I need to have this fixed by this Thursday for my sisters graduation. -thank you so much!

How bizzare, I did the exact same thing with my Canon A40 a few weeks ago. I slipped, and fell with the lens out. The lens unfortunately hit the ground, and was bent quite badly out of shape. I recieved the exact same error. Unfortunately, it was out of warrenty, and it looked like it was completely broken. When shaking it, I could hear inside a number of pieces moving about (something that definately shouldn't happen). In my case, I bought a new camera, and that would probably be the same for you too. A repair would cost quite alot, and take a while to do, whereas you can go out and buy a new camera pretty much immediately.

those run a little over $100

probably much cheaper to buy a new one.

This can be simply fixed, i had a Canon A420 and got the same problem as you guys.I searched the internet and got some answers. Basically all you have to do is turn the camera on and twist the lens while its turning on and if you hear a click noise you did it right and it should work. Be careful, don't force the lens.I'll edit this post if i find the site where i found the tutorial at, just try what i said anyway.
