Annoying no road connection signs

Okay, I have another problem with Sim city 4 deluxe edition. I posted a post in the help section of Sim city 4 website,  but I never found a way to fix this problem mainly because the website was so inactive. I this is copy and pasted from my old tread in the other website. I edited this  post a little.

This problem started when I play Sim city 4 deluxe edition and my dad bought the game from eBay auction without the package and the manual. All I have is the two discs and the disc case and I double checked if the game is illegally copied and it is not illegally copied. My dad said that you don't need the package and the manual and he would buy it at a lower price even if the game is used. Whenever I zone high, middle, or low density residential zones or when the building are finish being constructed, shortly after that, these no road connection signs pop up and the building becomes vacant shortly or the zones never devolop after the signs come out. I double checked that the zone arrows are facing toward the road and the road is connected to other roads that lead to the commercial and industry area. None of the roads are broken and they are at max funding. I tried to rebuild the road, placed rapid transportation stations near the buildings, passed ordinances that reduced commute time and congestion. I installed the update about a month ago and this no connection problem started about a month ago. I also downloaded the NAM software but that didn't solved the problem .My dad just bought another copy of Sim city 4 deluxe edition from Wal mart because my dad and I thought that the game disc that I have is a bad copy. He said I can get the new disc this friday and today is Thursday.

First of all do not double post and use the edit button on the lower right side of your last post to add anything to it.

No road zots appear sometimes and usually go away by themselves with time. Just let a couple of months go by (simtime) and the zots should disappear. Make sure that all the arrows point towards the road though at all the times.

To take a picture without opening the ingame picture option just use ctrl+shift+s and click on enter on your keyboard whenever you want the shot to be made.

    hope that helps.

The largest and the tallest building became empty after the no road connection zot dissapper, the building is now full of middle wealth  people  and no  matter what I do, the building never gets filled with high wealth people. I really  hate EA company now, espicaly when they put a inactive techncial software that never responds on my game disc.

hmm...sounds like something to do with the jobs and commute time. To post pics go to an offsite photosharing site and upload images there. Would help and see. The no car zot means that they are too far to get to work easily...I think.

The dumb no road connection infected zones and the buildings are very close to the subway station and the subway station is connected to the other cities( its strange that they aren't being used) and they are connected  to the industrials and commercial  buildings.  The education, health, land value, and the deserablity. The crime level are very low( I can't get rid of those annoying small crime spots in the middle of the city. Also, since I don't have a email account and I can't access the sim city pictures from my computer  screen except from the game view.

First of all you didn't read my post above where it says :*DO NOT DOUBLEPOST*. This is not allowed on Simtropolis and almost any other Forums. Use the little *EDIT* button on the lower right (just under) of your last post to add the new text or anything else.

The pictures that you take ingame are in the MyDocuments/Simcity4/Album/City's name folder and are in png form which you can open with paint or irfanview and transform (save as) into jpg's format and then upload it to http://www.imageshack.us/   and show the picture's link here.

    Couldn't be easier.

2.gif Now don't forget to use the EDIT button next time when no one has answered your last post yet .......lol

okay, have you tryed changing the streets to roads infront of the Lots?, it sounds like a commute time thing. and check if the bus station or the sub way are actualy being used. and it has nothing to do with it being from eBay. Maby try downloading NAM.

dude hit the "PRT SCR" button to the right of F12 on your keyboard when you want to take your screenshot. Open up MS PAINT, PASTE, and SAVE the file to your DESKTOP (so you know where it is), and save is as a JPEG to cut down on image quality and size, since the std paint format will save as an outrageously inefficient file.

    Once more:

1). After PrtScr click You have Screen image in memory of Your PC - and you can download this may be in Microsoft World, may be in Photo Editor and etc...

2). But I don't understand with Your photo from SC4 - you must one click with your Camera Mode - no more .... and look it in Albums folder ...

You have to make sure you have sufficient transportation capacity in the area you want to develop. I'm not talking about transportation networks, but transportation capacity...there's a difference.

You could have lots of roads, railroad, or subways around your development, but if they are all running at or above capacity you'll see your high-wealth Sims leave the development and the area becomes degraded.

I typically set my cities up with the city streets, surface roads, one-way roads, and subways in a grid pattern . With avenues, highways, railroads, and elevated railroads I start at the city center and build both ring routes and radial routes to connect each ring. What I would also suggest is that instead of building a regular avenue, build an "avenue" using two one-way roads in opposite directions, but leave one tile width between the two where either a light rail or elevated rail will go.

So far I have found that this design provides transportation capacity that is more than adequate to support a large metropolis.

Your original problem is not a glitch, merely another element of realism in SC4.

I did install NAM, but it didn't help with the no road connection problem. My city plan is layed out like this; the streets are 6x6 and the other 6x6 block is one tile away and that tile is left empty. The empty tile gives me enough room to place subway stations, parks, and trees. The 6x6 blocks are then fill with commercial, industry( I only allow high tech industry in the 6x6 blocks), or residental. The subway station is connected of coures. Sooner or later, when the street hits orange or red, I upgrade it to a road. I forgot to tell you that I am using a laptop, not a desktop computer. My laptop doesn't have some keyboard buttons that a regular desktop would have ,and my laptop doesn't have print screen keyboard button.

Ok, this is beginner's learn how , since you really seem to be one. I have two Laptops and both have print screen, youre most likely too. It is the next key to the right of the F12 key on top of your keyboard.

But that doesn't help you finding the darn ingame picture.

If this is a PC (Mac I don't know how they fonction) Start the game , find what you wanna take a picture off and press *ctrl+shift and s* at the same time. You will see a frame around the gamewindow now. By pressing the long bar on the bottom of your keyboard you can enlarge or make the pictureframe smaller. Once you got in the frame what you want to take a picture of, you hit *Enter*. Voila, a picture is taken. A small window will open and you click ok or yes (can't remember what it says.)

Close the game and go to *MyDocuments/Simcity4/Album* and choose the city's namefolder you just took the picture in. Open it and .....wow.......surprise....the picture is THERE! Ain't that sweet..............(If it isn't , throw your laptop away).....lol

Now right click on the picture and open it with......Paint or Irfanview or any other paint or picture program you have. Then save as a.......jpg and give it a name or number to your desktop (right on top of your wallpaper). Now all you have to do is upload it to the site that I have given the link to above and put the link of the uploaded picture in a post right here.

THIS IS SIMPLE, just do it as it says. Now if you can't do this, then I don't know how you managed to start your computer and be able to post here on ST.

We need a picture to see what you mean by no road zots, because sometimes words aren't enough to imagine what's wrong.

Now go and get it!! Good luck.

If I click the take picture button in the game, will that also work because all of my city's pictures are taken that way. What does print screen mean?

I know that the pictures are kept in the folder, but the computer can't open it because a dumb photo paint shop is expired and I can't buy it because my dad said its useless to buy a a software.8.gif

clicking on print screen means that it will take a picture of whatever is on your screen at the moment of clicking.

    Do you have windows XP?

Btw , you don't need a freaking paint program to open a picture, darn. Open it with mspaint (which is on every computer that has windows) or irfanview which you simply google for and download it free.

Maybe those zots would go away if you took your game out of pause.

They were out of pause when I was running the game, I took the picture while the city was in pause. If I took the picture while the city is running, it will lag me or it might cause a 5 minute or more lock-up.

    lol.........lol.......

That's what I thought too. On the pictures the game is paused.

Anyways, I see no problem there, just continue to play and these zots will go away with time. Sometimes some patience makes wonders.....lol

    Good luck. 2.gif
