Hello!

i have a little Problem. After i learned now how to play SimCity4 , i started to read some tutorials, and i foun one with the name "Making money the Easy Way" ... there i learned that im able to play over Regions, so i can make my city into one region and the other stuff, like Power, Garbage & Industry into a neighbourhood region.

well everything worked fine, i have garbage deals and Power deals, and i have made in my city 4 squares of houses

see here: http://img338.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic1ck1.jpg

this is the neighborhood region

http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=smwo4.jpg

the Problem is now, that noone builds houses into my city... i dont know why but there is Power, there is work (in that other region) and normally it should work easy

i waited now 15 ingame years (!) but nothin happens...

can it be that the arros that shows the connection to the other region are the problem? in that readed tutorial i saw one out and one ingoing arow, but im not able to make in & outgoin arrows (or better i dont know how^^)

to info, i have only the normal Sim City 4, not the Addon!

hope anyone can help me!!

Regards PatchOne

first of all you can use avenues insted of two roads together. check your tax rates, provide more services, provide water. Put up parks. If all fails restart.

It is simply because you have all those 1x1 lots. As you can see, houses build where they can build as 2x1. Sometimes the game just won't develop 1x1's if you don't have enough bigger lots available. I don't know why; other times it's no problem.

So: zone bigger lots to get the development "going".

That's why I hardly ever zone 1x1 lots. They only appear after an existing population has moved in. Besides this annoying initial feature, they are unrealistic: who lives in a house on 52' x 52' lot? There are places in America where such neighborhoods exist, but they are very rare. Most of the tight subdivisions just outside of Detroit have plots that are very similar in size to 1x2 lots in SC4. Besides, everyone needs a backyard. 4.gif

In fact, the grid is rather unrealistic.  16 x 16m is over 50 x 50 feet.  Many urban lots have much less than 50 foot frontage.  I have had one house that had 35 foot frontage.  A lot depth of 125 feet is not unusual.  My current lot has 150 foot frontage and is 100 feet deep.  That's 15,000 square feet, folks.  You wouldn't like to fence that, would you?
