[Map used is Petit Ville by delboysim.]

Picture18.jpg

This region was founded by French Naval officer Captn. Petai in 1805. He was fed up with his countrymen, as they were atheists, mercantilists, and metrosexuals. I'll be starting on the left peninsula, filling up the smallest squares first, as they are less likely to be haunted.

Chevron is a typical example of a small farming town in the region.

Just an example of how I run my city: This lot used to be an upscale hair salon. After they refused to do hair-styling below-the-neck, I revoked their license and handed the property over to Buddha Burger, who promised to hire my autistic cousin.

Don't worry. That house had too many cats, anyway.

This is my variant of the traditional six by six grid for industrial zones. This town does not have residential yet, as its main function is feeding demand for industry in neighboring cities.

Great start, although the pics are a bit blurry.

It looks like a good start, however, here are some tips to make your pictures look a lot better:

-Turn off the grid (pressing the G keyboard button).

-Hide the mayor panel (I guess you know how to do it; clicking the small square found in the bottom-left of the screen).

-Turn off the cities borders in region view.

-Don't pause the game, the yellow line looks bad =/

-Put the graphics settings to the max, and try to avoid zoom 6.

-Don't hover the mouse over anything; press ESC to 'reset' the mouse and move it somewhere off the screen.

Specifically regarding disasters; these are awesome, but the disasters menu and the red border destroys the picture. When you start a disaster, quickly hide the panel (I don't know if there's a hotkey for this), and with a image editing program, crop the red line.

One thing else; you seem to have taken pictures in 1024x768 resolution, and then resized it. That makes it lose a lot of quality; when taking the pictures, set the game's resolution to 800x600; the pictures will be a lot better.

Heh, the list seems large, but hey, with a bit of effort you can make this CJ 5 stars quality 2.gif

Nice start to the cj. Take the advice from above, I did and it improved the cj a lot. Also this seems a rural cj so add some hedgerows, lakes and canals and it will look so more rural. more advice I was given

Thank you for the comments and constructive criticism, especially gml_josea. You're right about the grid. I'm indecisive about the mayor panel, as I like to see my income and population progress.

I have a monitor that is 1024x768 and when I set it to 800x600 the picture is really grainy and the screenshot I took is all black.

You're supposed to hide the mayor panel only when taking the picture, then unhide it and continue playing 2.gif
