Hi, I'm am having trouble downloading anything off the site. This is my first time trying to download anything here. Every time I click "download" the file will stop downloading and a message will come up saying "The compressed (zip) file is invalid or corrupt." This happens both on firefox and internet explorer.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need something in addition to simcity 4 deluxe edition to download BATs and mods? The files I tried to download were BATS, the NAM mod, and terraformer mod. Any help/explanation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Simtropolis.

We have had some server changes.  In order to diagnose your problem, please tell us:

  1. What operating system you are running, including version and update level;
  2. What browser you are using and its version
  3. Examples of the URL's you have been trying to get

    Thanks for the welcome.

O.S. is Windows XP Home, I'm using internet explorer 7 (the newest one), and I also tried firefox with the same results. I'm not sure what you mean by URL's. I'm going to the

"ST-Exchange" and the "Mods and Downloads" tabs, finding the mod/BAT/etc I want to download. I click on the download button on the lower right corner, and it comes up with the error message. It did this with all the BATS and the mods NAM and SCTerraformer.

This sounds like security system troubles.  If you have a firewall running, it must have the simtropolis site on the white (or permitted sites) list for downloading, and cookies must be enabled for this site.  This also applies to any security restrictions in your browser.

If you don't know how to set these, use the help system attached to whichever program you are trying to fix.

It's not a firewall or security issue. I think it's something wrong with this website because when I tried firefox the file downloaded, but when I click the folder the same error message comes up.

This is nothing to do with your operating system or firewall but some problem with the site server. Me, along with thousands of others have the same problem and it can get very annoying. The only way I manage to download the files properly is to use Firefox, and when the download file stops downloading and goes corrupt, download again and click yes to overwrite, it will then continue from where the file left off.

I can't imagine what has happened.  I can still download and get good results.  If I can do so, it must have to do with the connection or ISP you are using.  I have a CATV Lan connection.

This is a bad day for simtropolis I wish this was 'ent happening I agree I have downloaded winrar alzip turbo zip wizard zip firefox this is not the problem its not the cookies or anybodys firewall this is obviouly a Stex and site issue that needs to be looked at The last server that was started is when this problem started this is the problem of simtropolis becaues me and a couple computer techs have discovered, so why isnt simtropolis looking at this issue I have been with this site for four years and 2 yrs ago we had this problem and i was using winzip and I had to change it by switching to Winrar which solved the problem due to the winzip at that time was'ent compatible but this time its a site issue.

I've have a cable high speed as well. This is a really bizarre problem, I'm having problems with only certain files. Someone said to delete the file then restart, but I download and then the error message comes up, but where is this file I need to delete at, since I haven't opened or saved it???

I am having the same problem. When I try to download the NAM it says that the compressed (zipped) folder is invalid.

I have the same problem as well. The problem is, the file stops downloading before it is actually done, so if the file was lets say, 2 mb, it might stop downloading after just 1 mb and tell you its done. It seems to be fairly random and if you try enough times you will eventually get the full file to download. My suggestion is to look at the size of the file before you download it, and then varify after it is done that the downloaded file is the same size as it the one online. If it is not, you're gonna have to delete it and start over.

Mine wont even start to d/l. I will press the download button and then the open button and then another window pops up with the Compressed (zipped) folder invalid message.

    I am using IE7.

To everyone: I'm having the same problems as well!

However, this problem only happens when I open very old files, like from earlier than 2005. I haven't seen anything bad happen with some of the newer uploads.

Well I downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox just to see if I can maybe get it to work with firefoxes file savepoint feature.

Edit: Well it seemed to download fine after a few stops with Firefox. Now just to see if it really works during gameplay.

So for everyone else having problems, maybe try downloading Firefox and see if it works.

Its not an internet issue either because before a week ago everyone was downloading find so its not anyones ISP because this is new not an old problem it don't make sense and downloading something now and re downloading it is not going to solve anyones problem yes say you have a 2Mb download and it downloads only 1 Mb its not giving you everything all your going to recieve in the game is a cardboard box as a lot if you get reid of the file and start again you get the same problem people are guesting but don't know the problem you can try other sites and any downloading program will work except simtropolis right now A small question for people have you been having problems with internet connections or Downloading programs such as winzip winrar or alzip for example a mth ago No because this is not the problem think about what has been happening in the last two weeks when this started a week ago, I would bet money its a STEX issue. Downloading Firefox is a temporary solution this will not solve your problem and files such as pegasus or simgoober for example there downloading format you will still have problems because there much harder to open without this proble being fixed.

Something is def. up with STEX. I downloaded Pegs Canal earlier today successfully.

I was having problems with other things though, game was to slow, so I just deleted SC4 and reloaded everything. I was hoping that would solve the problem, it didn't. I was able to successfully download the new NAM from Devotions, although I'm having problems with RHW... Anyway, as I deleted the game, I got rid of all plugins. I go back to download Pegs Canal, and this time I get the invalid corrupt message... I def. downloaded it successfully earlier today, now its a no go. Something is def. up with this new server... Certain files disapearing for certain people at certain times!?!?!? Quite frustrating! If you need any more info, please ask, but I'm 99% sure the problem is on STEX...

Make sure you have the latest Java Runtime Environment installed on your computer. Simtropolis runs off of hundreds of Java applets and the like.
