petriknl - Thanks.  It's what I'm striving for.

mayormommy - Thanks.  That's how the CJ was started, built functionally first.  Aesthetics are purely after the fact.  4.gif

homeandaway - More to come shortly...building up the north now...could be a week or so before a substantial update.

    Shulmanator - Thanks.

yarabundi - Thank you.  It's really a lot easier than it looks, very little altitude variance 2.gif

jacqulina - Thanks...and there's a lot of planning that's gone into making this look unplanned!

I'm also begining to extend the airport...those are first-run rendered bridges, so I hope to clean them up before a real update...  But under the circumstances, I have not problem showing them off 2.gif

i like how you did those bridges at your airport, i can surely imagine those bridges!

really looking forward for more stunning pics!!

    Zipme17: Thanks.

tommiej: Thank you for the kind words....I think you'll enjoy what's comming next if you like that style on flat terrain 2.gif

Schulmanator: Thank you... Some new more rural pics for you this time.

The Pasifica State and the Bogue Province

    Bogue, Pasicana:

The Pasifica State is the rural west of the nation.  The entire state boasts a modest population of about 270,000 people.  The terrain is either the high plains, or the western ridge.  When the Piedmont ends, it abruptly gives way to the dry hihg plains.  The elevation of the barrier between the Peidmont and the High Plains varries only 4 feet between 158-162' above sea level along the entire length of the island.  The saturated soil of the piedmont provides excelent agricultural conditions while sometimes only feet away the high plains are a dry frontier.  This occurs with the rivers cutting through the plains leaving very little water and dispersing over the piedmont leaving rich sediment that was carried throuhgh the gullies and canyons of the plains.  Within a few miles of the west coast is the Pasifica ridge mountain range.  This rises abruptly out of the Pacific Ocean and ensures almost all rivers in the nation flow east.  Only a few small streams flow through the "western slope" of the nation which is barely 2 miles wide.  The valleys of the Ridge tend to be more similar to the piedmont than to the adjacent plains, largely because they share the same rich soils.  As a result, a stunning agriculture market has emerged.

    Region Views:

    transitnc2.jpg

The Developped city is The Rhyleigh and Cedar Ridge.  Directly south at the confluence of the westward valleys is the city of Cedarhaven, the regions #2 city (plan to have 8-10,000 people).  Three more valleys go through the center of the East, from top to bottom, the Morgan, the Little Bogue, and the Bogue.  In the Northeast is Bogue Rock (at one time the landmark used to find the pass into the valleys), and just NE of that is Frountier's End Village, a tiny outpost once used by travelers going west before making the 2-day crossing over the passes.

Finally, there is a small valley departing the south of the map.  This is called Ellesserhead, being the headwaters of the Ellesser river that flows through southern Brunswick.

The city of Bogue will be at the junction of the two Bogue valleys.  It will be about 15-20,000 people in size, and be the largest city.

The Pasifica state is divided into Provinces.  The nature of the geography tends to leave towns in sparsely spaced clumps.  Because of this the Province was devised to deal with the inability to effectively administer the state.  Each province manages itself as a state, and the state is only left with the remaining frontier to oversee.  As a result, the state is effectively a formality, with the few semi-autonomous provinces dealing collectivley with the national government.  Bogue, being Pasifica's only city to connecto to Rothham and Brunswick directly, is the State capital of Pasifica, and the Provincial seat of the Bogue Province overseeing this particular region.

homeandaway - Lol, you really seem like you want to see more...2 posts since last update!  This teaser is just for you 3.gif

Tommiej - Thanks, I like the farms too... the trees around them really make clear defined lines in the region view.

Voulpiotis - Thanks, No new region pics today, but I'm brewin' up some serious updates on three regions right now.

Schulmanator - Thank you.  Perhaps this closeup will challenge the region pics above?

    The Rothham Bridge:

The city of Rothham, the southernmost city in the nation (Can be seen on the map in the above update).  The city is the nation's largest port (and it's big....just big...), and has a much more recent history than does Brunswick.  Because of this, the city design is upgraded to that you would find on the outskirts of Brunswick, with only a small old-town existing at the citie's edge.

An overview map of Rothham (this is VERY outdated, and many of the ports have been drastically modified to accomidate the SC4 grid):

    rothhamhk6.jpg

The Rothham River, the main river channel (flwoing from the west, through the city and due east past the two large coastal islands) forms the boarder with the nation of Pasaca.  Relations between the two nations are strained at the moment, and what limited contact between the nations there is must cross by ferry or ship.  Central Rothham sits on the narrow strip adjacent to the long straight canal to the north (in the exact center of the region map).  Because the city's main canal is a major navigation, it must be bridged at proper heights to allow shipping.  Because there is little land to the south of central rothham, and much of it is port, a massive amount of traffic must cross the Rothham Grand Canal from the North.  As a result, a massive road was needed across the river.  Durring the initial construction of the D-road system, this bridge was put in where the canal cuts NE for a short distance.  Years after this bridge was built, the orriginal road making the crossing (then functioning on a rather poor D-road onramp) had it's crossing restored, allowing for merging onto the existing D-road, or crossing the bridge on the road.  The increased capacity across the Bridge was greatly welcomed in the city.  The beautiful bridge is the pride of the city, and it largely serves as the city's focal point.

Nice work, that bridge is pretty nuts! Good work on the airport... Quick question, are your runways a realistic length? I am trying to build an airport in my cj and I can't figure out how long the runways should be. Thanks!

Saw this bridge over in your other thread about non-griddiness over in the City Building Concepts area. Though it does not align well with the avenue it's still a revolutionary creation.

There's something I want to say about that bridge, but can't without sounding like a critic.

First off, thanks to everyone who's followed this thread.

I've run into what I think is a conflict issue, and I cannot solve the problem without destroying my airport cities....*sigh*

Anyway, I'm about 3 weeks into the construction of a new CJ (it will be much cooler than this one, I promise).

So, when this CJ started off, I had three regions shown. Rothham was one I spoke of regularly, but never actually showed any pictures of it. So, it really was a transportation beauty, I thought I'd share the map that was in progress as a parting gift from the CJ.
