Why do I get cardboard boxes around some buildings I have downloaded (e.g. HSBC) and how do I get rid of them?

Welcome to Simtropolis! 44.gif

Most downloads from Simtropolis require Sim City 4 + Rush Hour or Sim City 4 Deluxe to work. If you don't have one of these, most buildings will appear as a brown box.

If you do have Rush Hour or Deluxe, then you might need things called "dependencies" to make the download work. A lot of files come with a "ReadMe" in which there should be a list of the dependencies required. The list could also be in the Description of the download. If you download these dependencies, the file should then work.

Cheers everyone, also another question. I found a brilliant download: BLaM Bistagne Cement Plant

I can't get it to grow in my city, how do I get it in my city? I have full industrial demand, the 3 by 8 grid size, power, water; yet it won't grow??!!

The lot appears to be a ploppable.  Look in your Landmarks menu.
