Ok everyone, the problem I'm having is that I recently moved to the United States, and as I was tight on space in my luggage, and I had a good computer waiting for me where I was moving, I decided to take just my Hard drive as in the small knowledge I have of computers I know all your files are stored on the Hard Drive.

About a year ago, a friend of mine seperated my comp into 2 drives, one for just basic system stuff with only 15 GB capacity, and another for all the stuff I download off the net with 105 GB capacity. When I had installed SC4, the files were automatically installed on the small capacity drive which was C drive I believe.

The problem is that when I finally attached the Hard disk drive (as a 'Slave HDD' I believe, meaning I also have the HDD that came with the new comp, So I have 2 HDDs) that I brought with me, I can access only the large capacity drive, but not the My Documents in the small capacity one. I'm very irritated about this, because if I lose the stuff I had in the small capacity drive 'My Documents' folder, I lose all the work on my CJ. When I go through documents and settings, and pick the user which the stuff was on, it says "N:\Documents and Settings\Amigo is not accessible. Access is denied." When I look in the 'properties', it says the folder has nothing in it!

I beg of anyone that can help me, as I'm very scared not to lose all the work on my CJ.

Take care everyone.

Hmm, I did find the program after searching better, and apparently it's asking me to copy the programs to a disk, is this normal? Also, I'm convinced the HDD wasn't damaged, as I had it in my hand bag between 2 small pillows. Thank you very much for having patience with me dadyrghluv.

i believe this is due to the fact that the hardware has changed, since your on a new computer. windows doesnt like significant upgrades at one time, its a security measure. if u put the "OLD" HDD as your master drive, u will see what i am talking about. u will need to re-register windows. which is why u can't acess your info on it. it wont let u! see if your new computer has a program called "program transfer wizard" or something to that effect(it can be called other things depending on manufacter). HP has this program on all newer computer's ('99-present) or maybe even older. if not look at www.download.com and see if they have a program to DL.

    i hope this helps

Thanks for the info dadyrghluv, I should mention that the old HDD came with a Compaq computer, and the new computer is an HP. I searched for the program transfer wizard, but I can't seem to find it. I'm going to go to downloads.com to look more. Thanks again for the information.

np, if need be, just make the "old" HDD your master/primary until u can re-register windows, and u should be all set. if this does not work, i have a feeling that during your travels, u may have damaged the HDD. this is definitly not a hard thing to do, and are very prone to "shock" damage/moving around. if this is the case, i hate to say it but the HDD may be shot. but don't throw it away if it is. u ever get some money, u can actually send it away to washington D.C to be recovered for a nominal fee. its expensive but worth it if the data is of importance.

    goodluck, i hope this works.

the time switch is why your post ended up there. we lost an hour(i think). happened to me as well after i posted here lastnight. on to your question.

i think its basically asking u to do this as a back-up just incase, which would be a good idea. i never used the program myself, so this is just a hunch. try doing the following first. take "slave" HDD and make it your primary/master drive, and don't use the the second HDD. see if u cant re-register windows. if it doesnt allow u to do anything, this means it has a partition that will only allow it to run on the old system. HP has this built into most HDD's these days and is done at the facility in which makes the computer. it canoot be deleted or even copied unless done from the system in which it originated. this is also a security feature to prevent copying of windows OS.

make back-up before doing anything of sorts otherwise u could lose everything from both drives if not careful. try said suggestion above first then go ahead and copy your files from the "slave"

    HDD.

EDIT: due to the time switch this ends up becoming a double post! sorry for the headache on that, but no choice due to the time switch41.gif
