Commercial Problems

I've got full demand for all 5 sectors of commercial demand and commercial desirability is green. My advisors are pestering me on to lack of commercial jobs in my city. And still, I can't get commercial development. I situated a bunch of landmarks near those commercial zones and nothing seems to work. Now people are leaving my city because of the lack of jobs. This is so irritating. Gargh! It sucks totally. What am I supposed to do?

I'm a total newbie to all of this as I just bought the game a day or two ago, but have you tried putting Water Pumping Stations in the area. I remember reading or seeing in one of the game Tutorials that Business needs water.

Can you post a pic of the problem?  It could help someone figure out whats going on for sure.

Without seeing the pic, one of your problems could be an inadequate transportation system.  If you are trying to zone high density commercial, it will not develop without a good transportation network connected to the zone.  You also need to provide water and a good education system.

If you are just starting to develop the city, I use the following layout.

Residential -> Commercial -> Industrial

That way people who are travelling to their industrial jobs have to pass by the commercial zones, creating a high number of customers for the commercial lots that develop.

Hope that helps,

rhino

P.S. don't listen to the advisors, they usually don't have any idea what their talking about 2.gif

Sounds very very weird. Maybe water is indeed the problem? Or maybe education, so they will be smart enough to work in this CO$$$?
