Diagonal streets?

What's the secret to getting diagonal streets?

I'm running SC4Dx with the  SKU 1 update and the NAM (Oct. 2005 edition).

I had forgotten the mod included that feature, but reinstalling it (to make sure it was checked) didn't help.

So I spent some quality time combing through the guides which came with it trying to find out what I'd missed. It appears that all the other components are installed and working correctly, though.

Is there a separate mod or have I just missed an important step?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Newmouse, You need to draw streets like a staircase, exactly like you would do if the mod wasn't installed. once you have 4 or 5 tiles in place it should make the diagonal looking street. Hope this helps.

When making a diagonal road joining two existing roads, if you drag your diagonal from point A to point B, it should snap in and connect. Does for me.

Thanks to both of you for trying to help.

I've seen the "staircase" used, exploman89, but there was one photo I downloaded yesterday which clearly showed straight diagonal streets (not roads).

Lacking the creator's permission, I can't post the photo here, but I found another one. Click on "Post your tutorials," Tutorial 1, then scroll down to the 22nd photo (give or take a couple).

And by the way, as something of a newcomer to ST, I've spent a LOT of time lately soaking up the absolutely remarkable work of other members. There's a lot of creativity out there!

And thanks again for taking a moment to respond.

I think you misunderstood exploman89 explanation because it's exactly how it works.

Taken directly from the NAM read-me:

Diagonals. This requires 5 or more tiles to be zig zagged, like a set of steps or stairs, before the diagonals are triggered. NOTE: Requires an additional Plugin. See Installation Instructions for details.quote>

So you have to draw a couple of "stairs" with the street tool like this :

then after a couple of stairs the game will automaticly draw a straight diagonal like this:

Hope it was clearer this time.

Aha! So I did miss a step, then. Thanks so much for clearing it up for me.
