Help! deleted file corrupted power supply

Well, I have made a grave error in one of my cities.  I used the CSX Rural power plant (small Diesel generator I think) to start the city.  Anyway, after playing with some other cities I went on a mission to clear out some old BATs that I was no longer using and removed this power plant from my menu.

After reentering this particular city I noticed power problems and under the Utilities menu I found on Unknown power plant (the aforementioned power plant).  I located the plant and deleted it - opps.  Probably my first mistake.  That didn't solve the problem.  I exited and saved - opps again.  I replaced the power plant in my menus hoping it would see it and fix the problem.  Well, it sees it now (even though it was deleted and is no longer in the city).

 

The problem is, over time my other power plants quickly loose funding and become inefficient.  HELP.  In order to play this city every 5 min I have to locate my existing power plants and redo there budget to Max.  And every time they slowly reduce funding to Zero.

 

Is there any cure.  This city in integral to my region and I would hate to have to redo it.

 you say you put the power plant back into your plugins .If so make sure all files are there then replop the plant exit and save then go back into the city bulldoze the plant and place anyother type of plant then save then exit the game now remove the file from your plugins then when you go back into the city the new power plant should be working right.

Not sure I remember where the exact location of the power plant is.  Does it have to be in the exact same location. 

 

Under the Budget menu it still sees the original plant (even though it has been deleted).  If I replop it wont it see 2 plants.

It should be "Ionizer Hydro Power System" which causes this.

To fix the problem, as previously mentioned you need to place all relevant files back in your plugins folder - check especially for any .sc4descr files,  .sc4model files, .sc4Lot files and .dat files Then go into your city, bulldoze the lots and then you can safely remove the files from your plugins.

If you have already bulldozed the lot, you may need to plop another copy of the lot right on top of the original location and then bulldozing it. If that doesn't work, try using the de-zone tool on the area or plopping a hospital on top and then bulldozing.

Some badly modded files may also cause the problem, but the CSX lot is extremely unlikely to be affected by that.

Many of us don't use the recycle bin.  You know if you hold the shift key during a delete, the file goes straight to the big bit bucket in the sky.
