I'm way off with my predictions...

Anyway, something I'd like to hear the communities opinion on. Coyote's Raffi Torres has been suspended 25 games for his hit on Marion Hossa. Is this fair?

Personally, I think it is. Considering he is a repeat offender and the hit was intentional, it was the perfect time to make an example out of someone. Maybe now some of the other players will smarten up and we won't have to see too many of these again.

I was thinking more like a lifetime suspension. There goons won't get the message until one of them gets killed (removed from the sport). The league policy is well-known, and if it were shown that any member of the coaching staff were involved in encouraging such behaviour, the franchise should be disqualified from the play-offs. "Violence is the last resort of the incompetent."

So I just learned today on the news, that Florida has a hockey team and that we are in the playoffs, I never knew one existed, any chance Florida wins the trophy and becomes world champions?

There are 2 NHL teams in Florida

The Florida Panthers ( Miami) and the Tampa Bay Lightning

Panthers were an expansion team for the 1993 season.

and got to the finals in 1996

Tampa Bay won the cup in 2004

The problem with hockey in the U.S. markets is that it is overlapped entirely by the NFL and MLB. It is hard to sell football on the rocks when it hasn't been around for a long while. Mr. Bettman is rapidly losing his bet.

As for World Championship, that is not awarded with the Stanley Cup. That is only one league. The world cup is truly international and not a professional league (IIHF). NHL is just the gladiators featuring the most brutal goons in sport.

I have cousins in Pittsburgh who follow hockey. One to the point that I've blocked him on facebook. I really don't need to read his rantings about various plays that happened hours before I signed on. If he wants to rant on FB live as the game happens, he can have at it. Just don't expect me to read it.

More puzzling in the U.S. is teams south of the Mason-Dixon line. A northerner sport doesn't seem to fit into the southern character.

You are probably right. I don't remember when but I know it happened. Interesting if the underdog were to take it after all. After all, it's win or golf.

In 1942 the Maple Leafs came back and beat the Detroit Red Wings in the 1942 Stanley Cup final.

Been done a couple other times in earlier rounds but never the finals.

Well, its all over but the shouting and touring the cup about with the LA players. Good for them, but I'd have rather they were playing out of Quebec City.
