  1. Welcome to Aeroes City: Part I

    A long overdue update to The Flatlands, I welcome you all to Aeroes City. The last few weeks have had me busy, wrapping up big assignments for end of semester, and life in general limiting my time to SimCity 4. The last couple of days, I have started fleshing out some inner city and southern suburbs of Aeroes City, so before I get much further, I figured it's finally time for the long awaited tour of Aeroes City. This update will be long, so I can bring you all up to speed with the mess of a city I've created. Firstly, an overview. the Greater Aeroes City has passed 180,000 population, as I move to open up the Eastern and Southern districts [map], formally connecting them to the city. You can already see in the region overview that the suburbs of Southern are creeping up to Central, and Eastern to Northern. Teaser alert: I have also done some work on the Promethius Agricultural community, with the farmlands overtaking Demeter Valley and Hermes Connection. There's also a new township in the area, which I will explore in a future update. I am taking to naming my cities after Greek gods, where the name suits. Coincidentally, Athena Straight was named because I like the name, but I guess Athena is the god of war, and there was a battle between the industrialists and the agriculturalists in the area, so the name fits. Demeter and Hermes were more researched, and fittingly for agriculture and the traveler/merchant subsequently. Back in Aeroes City, I have also started adding the arteries connecting Southern, Western, and Central. Suburbs in this area are not far off, but there's lots of work to do. Now we're up to speed, lets take a closer look at the distinct regions in the city. Part I: Dirty Money Home to 10,000 jobs, mostly low-income dirty industry, Athena Straight is often considered names such as the power house, the dump, smog city, and boom town. All these names are equally accurate. Athena Straight is the gold mine (or oil, more accurately), that Aeroes was founded on. Before the business expansion, Aeroes City was an industrialists paradise. Oil, smog, pollution. Factories as far as the eye can see have damaged the landscape to line the pockets of a few greedy investors. A ferry comes into dock, bringing a boat load of factory workers with it. When the factory workers get hungry, lunch isn't far away. The orange trim retail stores actually have similar architecture to a local fry up near where I live. Athena tried recycling. Tickets please. Rail is a popular transport in Athena Straight. Across the other side of Aeroes City lies the 'port city' of Cobbers Harbour. Home to 4,000 industrial jobs, the city acts as the gateway of materials and goods in and out of Aeroes City. It is conveniently located nearby the city center, and has road and rail connections to the other industrial districts located throughout the city and the region. The port is slated to undergo further development as the Southern District is developed. The industrial hub is on the road to becoming a satellite city to Aeroes City. The Port City is nestled between the slopes at the eastern end of the Ridge Valley National Park. The 'gateway' to the Port City. Anchors aweigh: A ship leaves port after unloading an import of goods. The lighthouse provides clear way for ships at night, as well as security throughout the industrial estate.   6. Hello guys, first of all I wanna thank you all for making this game so much better with all your amazing job ! and now as the title says...is there any chance to get corners for quays? I mean you think it's possibile with some mod? Because so far, with those curves they are simply unrealistic for ports building.

  8. With the Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga being a group of islands, travelling to mainland Europe is vital to the economy of the Principauté. In the past 10 years air travel has become the main way of transport from Port de Caravella to Mainland Europe, but the 'good old' ferry is still very popular with transport companies and locals. In the late 70's of last century, the local governement turned an abandoned part of the port into a Passenger Terminal to accomodate the growing number of people using the various ferry services. Today, the Passenger Terminal is still looking the same on the outside, but has completely been renewed on the inside. Port de Caravella is connected by ferry to 4 destinations on the European mainland. These destinations are Marseille (France), San Sebastian (Spain), Porto (Portugal) and Lisbon (Portugal). The services are operated by Trasmediterranea, an Acciona company. Next to the Ferry Passenger Terminal is also a Cruise Ship Terminal which can accomodate small and medium cruise ships that visit the Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga on a regular basis.     Ahoooy ST! First of all I'd like to apologize for my English. I understand this language very well, but there might be few harmless mistakes in my writting Today I'd like to introduce my CJ called Principality of Jantra. We'll start with not big project called Jaruna Islands. This place is little bit inspired by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ertholmene. I'm going to divide this update on 2 parts, today I'm gonna show you general shots taken on spring time. 1. It's small archipelago. Actually there are two inhabited islands: Jaruna Island (bigger one) and smaller Dziewanna Island. 2. An entrance to the harbour: 3. The strait between the islands creates a perfect natural harbor: 4. There is small but charming town called Jaruna, only 100 inhabitants: 5. Main street: 6. 7. 9. A footbridge between Islands: 10.   10. Hey all! I've been following this forum for a while now and all your amazing creations inspired me to start building assets myself. The first building is almost finished - a 3 track train station, as seen below (props for the person to recognise the station it's based on). I still have a few problems with it though, so bear with me: 1. The game is creating floors inside the building on its own. There's not even a vertex with the same z-coordinate where it's creating an xy plane inside the building. Is this something that's generated on purpose by the game? The floors are assigned the same textures as the roof of the building. They can be seen through the windows and are positioned about halfway behind the windows. 2. My sims are not using the third platform. I'm using the single station track with a platform on the left side of the track (relative to the direction it was laid). I thought it had to do with the pedestrian connections that I've laid down, but they are using the second platform which is accessed by the same pedestrian connection. 3. Speaking of pedestrian connections... I'd much prefer a rendered underground tunnel to the half-assed building I have there now but the game isn't letting me (it pushes the whole model upwards). How do I go about doing that? I know Joak uses them in his train stations, how did he do that? Any help regarding one of these questions would me much appreciated! Feedback on the model is also welcome by the way... it's my first time using blender and gimp. The textures aren't final either (mainly the roof and supports need work) but I've yet to learn how to use bump maps.

  12. Realising that my first city in the game was rather horrible I've decided to start a new one. Westfield I call it (yes original I know). My goal with this city is to try to push the game to it's limits. I'm already rather scared of the tree-limit as I put trees and bushes.. everywhere. If you have any ideas for the city feel free to tell me! I originally posted this on the "Snabbserver Forum" aswell as on the Paradox forums but after some thinking I realised that this is probably the best place. At this moment the city includes: An amusement park, Central metro system, Central Railway system with currently 1 local line, Harbour/port, An aqueduct, A Canal, Golf Course, Man made lake and water/hydro power plant, Bus depot, A drydock & probably alot more that I have forgot about. Anyway, let's get started with the pictures! Overview of the city with the industrial area in front and residental/commercial area in the back (center of town). Main harbour to the left. Canal that goes from a water source all the way down to the main harbour in an attempt to keep the water level somewhat stable. And here's a good overview-picture of the harbour. Pictures from the amusement park that is devided into two separate parts. That's it for this time! Hopefully you got some ideas on what to build yourself.     Mayon Province Harbour Down Town Bay Mayon Province has become a mayor player in harbour business. Container port is state of the art with a size of allmost the hole down town area. Old canal port is still functioning, a new fishing is being constructed on the south side. Let´s have a overview ! Canal Port Constructed as a interchange inbetween canal and seaworthy vessel or bulk or cargo boats. Container Terminal 1,2,3 Mayor containershipment facilities for road or rail on/off or transit transport ! Cargo trains wich are sorted for further transport are brought to this impresive railyard beside the terminal, oposite the wide road is Mayon Lager Beer company situated. Let´s finish the harbour facilities with a equal impresive oil terminal and refinery ! Mayon Province do have some offshore oil platforms but the mayority has to be imported from oil rich country´s. Notice the special oil tanker loading facilities ! Well that´s just about the grandious harbour facilities there are, we now move on to what frequently be called the manhatten like Down Town Area. Equal impresive absolutely ! Business District North with it´s impresive offices beside the govermential offices Mid town Living quarters with recreational parks. Heart of this part of town the Sampson ´Triangle´ Park Now we go for the final piece the resistance. Super Silverline Skyline of the head of the City. How about that ! Who can resist not living on such a beautiful island tip ! Well that was a very large episode, next time we take at a look at various scenes ! Hope you will join next´s journal !

  16. Harbour District

    As promised, here is the first entry, the Harbour District. This district is Located directly south of the Capital (im still working on it, but its huge ) As the name says, the focus here is on the coast and on the harbour specialy, but has a straight connection to the city, so its basicaly the south of the capital. Beside the Harbour it has plenty of other contend aswell, but why should i discribe when i better can show so, here we go: piers, and more piers fill meh up! As promised, this district has more to offer, here a closeup of one of my favorites so far: oh dude, i hope you like it too Its a place where the rents are cheap and manny young and creative people like artists and students move to. They are expirimenting with alternative ways of urban life. You find nightclubs, small shops and streetmmarkets here. The major has a eye on this area due to few people living outof the law there. Also many investors are intrested in this quarter and there is always the danger of segregation and gentrification here! eastern suburb... western suburb... ...and a shot from the center.   17. The Commonwealth of Traebia Update 2 - A Breezy Day in Seahaven Hello Simtropolis! We are in the year 1953 and...And we've actually skipped New Vienne County. Very simply, there's railway companies that are beginning to be interested in Traebia, and what better way to discover an area than watching the hills rolling, sitting next to a stinky old man in a slow train, knowing you've already missed your connection? We'll see more of the countryside and of the railway development in Update 3. So while we're stuck in Traebia, why not visiting Seahaven City? The town is lovely in summer...can't say the same about our brothers fighting in the Eshtar Civil War in this dreary 1953, nor can we cheer the Bevelle Riots ongoing. Oh well! Without further ado, let's visit this breezy spot that is Seahaven City, TR. But first and foremost... Replies Benedict - Thank you I try to be somewhat original in my presentation, pretty much learning from good CJs and bad ones alike. I'll try to keep up the pace! Also, the Balamb windmill seems to be as far as I can remember and compare (I also have but I am not a fan of huge dependency lists, but it's worth it I guess.) SHnozZa - Thanks, I love this alien base too as a matter of fact. :> Map In two years, not much has changed, but Seahaven has experienced a 9'000 inhabitants boost, mostly people coming from the upper states who settled in the eastern side of the city. Federal Route 7 has finally been finished, and there's some work concerning new railroads. Welcome to Seahaven! Welcome to Seahaven City (official name Seahaven), the most populous town in the Commonwealth of Traebia. This city is home to 89'000 happy sims, almost a third of the whole population of Traebia. We'll visit each numbered area, don't worry! This city is also the seat of New Vienne county, but it is very special as it straddles Devallay County (the whole of the southern shore, in fact). It is the entry point for many overseas shipping, and is known for its decorative square canals. In 1953, the major, Democrat DeFacto, has begun to study a possible filling of these canal ways, and so despite the water taxis enjoying hefty business. 1 - Canal City is the first neighboorhood we'll visit for today. Its name comes from the mass housing development on both banks, but historically, it was Seahaven's industrial district. When the harbor expanded, north of the town, many workers were housed in these little towers, destroying all of the historical factories. Nowadays, is it a quiet district, focused around the Factory Museum - this old factory on the top of the picture was completely refurbished and turned into a civic center and an art museum, where all the hype artists come to display their arts. Ahh, this lovely green sign above this door, all the expressionism of this neo-realist artist, his sorrow and anger showed by the man running off a door...what do you mean, it says "Emergency Exit"? Ah, well, let's visit further downtown for now, well after maybe a night in some charming hotel? 2 - Southend. Morning is set around Independence Monument. This giant tower was erected in 1855, at the outset of the Dollet Civil War, to commemorate the independence of the initial colonies. It was also a defiant sign towards Galbadia, which at the time was -the- major power on the mainland, and had managed to take the Timber ally, and even a homeland state over! As you can see, the city's streetcar line ends around the monument, and it is a busy transit center as all of the southern and eastern city's bus lines converge on this plaza. Southend is the oldest part of Seahaven, and also the busiest. Fancy Big Tower, the building with the banner, is the highest building in Seahaven at the time. 3 - Southend. In the early 20s century, many rowhouses were built as refugees from Galbadia, Winhill and Timber flowed into Dollet. Most were demolished a mere ten years after their building, but those were conserved. This very part of Southend saw the rise of the GLBT and aborigine civil rights movements, and is known as the Clockwork, in hommage to the bookstore you can see on the very far left side of this picture. 4 - Southend / CBD. The financial center of Traebia is here - next to the Fancy Big Tower, to the Cathedral of St. Georges, and to decrepit buildings. This part of Southend is known during the day for its commercial services, even though all of Melrose and the Inner City are teeming with banks and office buildings now. During the night, however, it becomes a popular nightlife hub, which highlights the duality of the 50s - an era of drowsiness and idleness, but also of conservative morals turning into devious interests as soon as night falls. 5 - Northside. The World Plaza is a very famous landmark in Traebia, and was built in 1942 during the construction and upgrade of Federal Routes 5 and 7, which intersect right here. You can see the distinctive shape of the Galbadian mainland on the bronze globe, or hang out above the traffic that sometimes does get busy, even for a small town like Seahaven. It is also where, in 1952, General Caraway spoke out against the atrocities committed in the Eshtar Civil War, sending troops to assist the loyalists in a peninsular country next to Eshtar (but referred to as Eshtar Civil War in the media). 6 - Northside. The train station is still brand-new in this part of Seahaven, as the lights are strangely up in some houses. This is the area known as The Mall, which is a busy office area in the town. You can see the Kölnturm, which is Trabian for "Cologne Tower", named after the famous Trabian city and its settlers who founded Seahaven. There is also the Cathedral of Hyne, standing next of the Loire memorial. This plaza is dedicated to Colonel Loire, who bravely fought in the 1910 Galbadian War in the last battle in which horses were used. His death is most epic, as after having raided the Galbadian fort just outside Traebia, he died ambushing and fighting off enemy forces - forcing them to withdraw from Traebia. 7 - Northside. The campus of the University of Traebia can be seen in here, and it is the only main college in the whole of Traebia. Sadly, the area around has been left to rot, especially the two towers next to the canal, which used to be a single, giant luxury hotel. In a huge scandal, the hotel's owner, a Timber politician, was caught running a pyramid scheme and imprisoned. The hotel towers were abandoned, and a procedure is currently underways to demolish the crumbling buildings before they fall off on their own - not to mention the very negative impact on the land about. 8 - Melrose. Just north of Canal City, the district of Melrose stretches outside the Inner City. It has enjoyed extensive development and nowadays, can almost be considered the western half of the CBD, even though it is more residential and less so busy than the Inner City. A few buildings in the vicinity are dilapitated, but the area is generally well-off. In the center-left, you can spot the Market Hall, former heart of any city's economy, and nowadays a very nice place to drink a Nuka Cola with friends. The shopping centre north of Melrose is the first of its kind in Traebia, and it's expected that soon enough supermarkets will swarm the land. Do you see this huge ball in this shopping centre? It's the Blitzball Arena, a spectacular sport from Bevelle and Lucas, two Centran countries, which enjoys extensive worldwide coverage. It's a shame that due to the extreme technology and sport itself, there usually is only one team per country in this sports, and so it is a great honor for Traebia to host all Dollet blitzball venues. 9 - Willets Point. We are now north of the city, just next to the industrial district. You can see the railroad to Dollet slithering around housing developments. To the south, Hornet Stadium, hope to the Galbadian soccer team Seahaven Aurochs. To the north, relatively new suburbs have been built by the railroad. 10 - Burbank. The islands east of Seahaven are home to extensive residential development. Burbank Island is the closest island to Seahaven. Its population is wealthy enough, though not as well off as in other areas. Here you can enjoy yourself, but don't go close to the shore - the water is freezing and if you wondered why there aren't any beaches in this city, well, try to bathe in freezing water...Not too many people are fond of that. 10bis - And we are lucky enough to see a sailing race underways in the strait in between Southend and Burbank. If swimming isn't too great, the waters of Seahaven are perfect for sailing and other related water sports. It's not all without risks, however. In 1952, a sailboat crashed in one of the pillars of the Burbank Bridge and the skipper drowsed afterwards. The Burbank Bridge, by the way, was doubled a few years ago, though not in the same style... 11 - Maple Hills. Well, it seems we're drifting a lot towards sports in Seahaven? That's certainly why most of its teams in many sports are very good in top matches (the Champion's League is no match for the Seahaven soccer team, which has won the last two cups. Perhaps that's what was hinted on the Big Fancy Building's poster?) Back on topic, this little stadium was built in the 30s and is still regularly used for training and even matches, despite the construction of a new stadium we'll see below. But look back up. This is Löwenstein Keep you see on the hill, and it's one of the oldest structures in Traebia. It was built during the second colonial era, as at the time, Seahaven was on the northern border of the Traebian colonies, which were opposed to the Centran Colonies. In the devastating war between both countries, in the 1750s, the fort was used by both sides, until Centra won over Traebia - even though Traebia won most of the important seats in the subsequent Thirteen Colonies, which would lead to the Dollet Civil War a century later... 12 - Roxbury. Here is the new venue for the baseball matches, as a matter of fact! This stadium was finished a mere month ago, but already six matches were played (and Seahaven lost four times, which is ironical given it's their new big stadium..). This is also the centre of the southern half of Seahaven, in Devallay County - Roxbury. You can see the Kim Petras Bridge carrying Federal Route 7 to the north, leading straight into Southend. 13 - Industrial Zone, Airport. The airport isn't finished yet, but already a high-tech industrial park formed to the extreme west of Seahaven, alongside Federal Route 5. There are many innovations there, but not enough to call this place Silicon Valley. Not just yet. 14 - Harbour / Surray Wharf. To finish this little tour, here is the industrial district of Seahaven and its lovely harbour, which at the time had few piers because container shipping was just beginning. But you can already see a few, as well as barges and other warehouses. This harbour is Seahaven's strength, and where most cargo transits (even though more and more ships skip Seahaven to reach Candar City), as well as the city's second main concentration of jobs. You can see the north end of our little streetcar system, too. That's all for now, folks! There are more green area and funner LET read IT!! +====================================+ Bita Marina and La Isla Bonita Hotel . one of my favorite place in amnef, Bita Marina located in East Side Lake of Amnef, and in BIta Marina there is La Isla Bonita Hotel, Bita Marina serve place for private ship and many leisure building.like Hotel,Little Ferris Wheel,bowling,Mall,Seafood restaurant,Big Marina,Villa,With City View,Isakles Epicentrum,Lake,Skyline,and many cool buildings. and La Isla Bonita Hotel, this is the uniquest hotel in Amnef, because the hotel has design like Cruise ship.. with facility like cruise ship too, in La Isla Bonita, there are bar,nightclub,hotel,15 apartment room,swimming pool,live music, indoor stadium,restaurant with 5star hotel facility.
