  1. Hey, I just started playing SimCity a few days ago, but I've gotten quite good at it (I think). But I just keep running into a big common problem; people keep leaving the regions just after they build a few roads, occasionally I get some players that stay on for a day or so but in the end they leave and never comeback. Anyways...i'm playing in the North America West 3 server (which I chose since I live in America). I'd prefer for us to play on this server as im already on it but im open to any suggestions regarding the server we play on. My requirements are: Stay constantly active (i'll be active most of the time anyways as I really love playing this game) Be good enough to have a functional city(no need to be an expert as im not an expert either but im good) I speak English only (So please only English) If someone asks a question regarding the game please do respond. Feel free to respond to any question relating to things other than the game.   2. So, I've been away from ST for like a year and started playing a region for the first time in over two years. I'm been in college and frankly got burned out on the game and took time off. But now between semesters I got the sim city bug and started playing again. It's like riding a bike lol!!! I'm actually doing better with this new region than I have in past since it's all fresh to me. It looks like we can add pics now without having to go through photobucket or whatever it is. Anyway I'll probably have some pics at some point of my new cities.

    Exerpt from the "About this city journal" tab: ####################### Dear successor, For the past 10 years I have been the Mayor of this wonderful small city; the city's population more than tripled, oil industries were swapped for tourism, and fossil fuels were replaced by renewable clean energy. The railroad network was greatly extended and the Ramora Bay University of Applied Sciences (RBUAS) was succesfully established. Now it's time for me to leave office and hand over the responsibility of managing Ramora Bay to the next generation, to you. We have achieved a lot and I am eternally gratefull to our citizens for their trust in me. This will be my final report and I would like to share the lessons that I have learned and the insights I have gained with you, and highlight some important issues that will have to be taken care of in the coming decades. ##################################################################### Are you the next mayor of Ramora Bay? Ramora Bay is situated at the end of Highway Four, which terminates in the middle of the city. The first interchange can be found immediately after the city border; this is primarily an industrial access interchange and provides out-bound connections exclusivly. 1b#Three Highway interchanges. This interchange could potentially be expanded to service freight transport into the city as well, especially if new industrial estates are developed on the abbandoned mining sites to the west of this interchange. At the same time this would improve industrial access to commerce in the western part of the city. 1c#View from the elevated roundabout interchange. The second interchange has long been the only one in the city, and used to be very busy untill the industrial interchange was built. It was upgraded to an elevated roundabout soon after I entered office. Presently it is mainly used by residents in the south-eastern part of the city and the lumber industy on the western border of the city. The main avenue flowing south from this elevated roundabout interchange was only recently upgraded to 6 lanes to deal with increased traffic volumes. The new situation still has to be evaluated and dealt with if the situation does not improve. 1d#West-bound avenue. 1e#Southeast-bound avenue. 1f#Traffic on the upgraded 6-lane avenue heading southeast. The third and final highway interchange provides direct access to the new city core and the university. It terminates in a large roundabout to reduce vehicle speeds and is mainly used by residents. 1g# Highway Four terminating in a large roundabout. The rail retwork has been greatly expanded; 1h# Railroad overview. the external south-east and west connections were connected, and the network provide access to three freight stations and one passenger station. One freight station is primarily used by the lumber industry and another by the high-tech robotics industry that was spun off from research conducted at the RBUAS. 1hi#Lumber Industry and freight station. The third freight station exclusively serviced the ore-mining industry to the north of the city, that had been established at Ramora Bay since it foundation. It brought the city great wealth and provided it with the neccesary resources to build up its tech industries. At present however, the economically viable ore pockets have been exhausted and pockets further up the mountains have yet to attract favorable investors. The station is occasionally used to transport supporters to the sport-stadium that can be found next to it. 1i# Freight station servicing tech-industry. The external rail connection is partially disconnected from the railroad going through the center of the city; the split on the west side of city is not functional towards the south so as to not allow any external traffic passing through the city center, but forcing it to take the longer route passing north of the city between the first and second highway interchange. 1j# On top: internal and external passenger-stations. The inner-city railroad is connected to 5 passenger stations connecting (from west to east): a buisness park and the lumber industry, the expo-center, Downtown, the university and leisure district, government buildings and exernal passenger rail station. 1k# Downtown passenger station servicing the blue and green lines. The network is very well used by locals and to alleviate pressure on the rail-lines (and to connect further areas of the city through public transport), permissions have been granted to develop a bus- or metro-network. 1l# Busy 1st class coupons of a passenger train. Throughout the city there are also numerous hiking paths, promenades and pedestrian bridges improving connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. 1m#Hiking path. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Demography & Urbanization 2a#Highrises and Tenements have sprung up throughout the city. The city has seen a strong growth in population over the past years, tripling in just under a decade. While education and public services such as healthcare, have kept up, deathcare was neglected, resulting in a so called "dead-wave" around christmas 2024. Unfortunately not much could be done during my last two years and keeping strong immigration is adviced to increase the number of working-age adults and lower the current percentage of seniors (22,4 %). 2b#Statistical data on the "dead-wave" phenomenon To promote the health of our citizens, numerous parks and walking trails have been established throughout the city and cycling is encouraged. 2c#Pedestrian Bridge crossing the passenger railroad. Public transport is free for citizens to in order to reduce the traffic volumes and improve air quality. The university also houses a medical center on its extensive campus and provides large areas of greenspace that could potentially be transformed into sport-parks. 2d#RBUAS campus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Energy 3a#Going green. To improve its reputation as a tourist destination and a worldwide leader in sustainability, the exploitation of oil pockets near the coast was discontinued: the environmental risk of an oil spill, which would have devastated the weak tourism sector, and the low market price of oil rendered further investments unfeasible. 3b#Incinerators as back-up/baseline power supply. Anno 2026, the city is able to draw up to 100% of its energy and heat from renewable sources; the solar power plant near the stadium and the wind turbines on its western border provide during sunny/windy hours, and during night/windless hours, incinerators throughout the city burn garbage that cannot be recycled and leftover biomass from the lumber sector. 3c#High tech housing reducing the carbon footprint of they city. Various (costly) edicts are in place to improve energy & water efficiency, and reduce garbage production. If the treasury is running low these could temporarily be retracted since they consume up to 33% (!) of the cities expenses. 3d#City policies. 3e#Edicts consuming up to 33% of the city's annual expenses. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Tourism 4a#Blue Heaven Although a lot has been invested, the tourism sector is still in its infancy. Promenades along the beaches and Hotels along the shorelines have been constructed. In addition the city has invested a lot in tourist attractions such as the Colossal Orders building, the Museum of Modern Art and the characteristic tower of High Interest, which dominates the city's skyline when seen from the ocean. Leisure activities have sprung up in close vicinity to the beaches and taxi's transport tourists from the intercity-station to tourist destinations. 4b#Promenades along the beaches. 4c#High Interest Tower dominating the shoreline. 4d#Public transport connecting Leisure Buildings Nevertheless it seems that most attractions are mainly used by locals who are responsible for over 99% of the sectors revenue. A wisely placed airport with good connections to the leisure districts might improve the situation... 4e# Plenty of room to build. ####################### Are you the next mayor of Ramora Bay?     Weather Forecast for Today ! Welcome to my CJ of simcity 4 sometime odd and weared behaviour or obscure things. Today I present the wheater forcast for Today ! Sunny spells, end of morning a large thunder and gales front arriving to the region. Motorist are advised to have there lights on for the rest of the day because light will be scared. Late evening will see a return to better weather. A satalite view of the region Now ! Please turn your lights on ! Thank you for your attention ! Weather will return to Sunny spells and light cloudy conditions. You can turnoff your lights ! Some odd simcity 4 behaviour ! Next week there will be the regular Mayon Province CJ. Last CJ concentrated on Fort Grayon, furthur city development. Next CJ will take us to the Countryside, we´ve explored Sampson Valley, now it´s the turn for the Coast peninsula´s of Hartford and Grayon. Still a lot of city and town and some overall agricultural development to do. Worked on a obscure location, not yet finished wich will be revealed in a later CJ. Later CJ may go offshore, go to the outback, visit a new fancy place ! Hope you enjoyed this short CJ and see you back in the next one !

    A lull before the storm of people departing from their pleasant cruise. The passenger harbor is nestled half way into Briarwood Woods and opposite Ashton. Busses and the Metro wait. On either side of the Metro is a sunken plaza. J. Garners' college has seen many students studying under open sky from the sunken plaza. Just up the street where Briarwood Woods and Ashton meet is the new entertainment complex called Spring 'n Summer. Starting from the Strata Resort at middle bottom we look left for the Hard Rock Cafe, Yekaterinburg Circus, Swim Club and Minor League Baseball Stadium. To the left of the baseball stadium is the 3 Penny Opera and Night Spire Casino. To the right of the baseball stadium is Social Center L57. An overwhelming favorite is the World's Biggest World bathed in blue. The U.S.S. Missouri sits moored opposite and to the right of the Missouri is the Earth Plaza Monument and the Statue of Wealth. Wow! World's Biggest World. The Yekaterinburg Circus before the Strata Resort dominated the skyline. Many devoted Arborists are busy making Spring 'n Summer an enduring delight.

    Welcome to Sea Turtle Falls! (I encourage you to Please Share you favorite screenshots/videos of the map!) OFFICIAL Steam workshop Link I started this map to experience the map editor for the first time and loved the base terrain I had made so I continued to elaborate and expand on the initial creation. I wanted to develop a landscape that would suit my play style which is to enjoy expanding my city at different elevations and benches of land. I love to get down low to the ground and see my city rise high into the sky or vice versa looking down from the towering city onto the low valleys. This took approximately 1 week to complete. Throughout your experience playing on my map you should find many hidden surprises and fun images throughout the land. I thoroughly hope you enjoy the adventure of Sea Turtle Falls! --== Map Details ==-- + 25 Tile Map - Be sure to get a 25 Tile Mod to experience the full adventure! + 150,000 Trees - I set a limit for myself at 150k trees, I tried to use them as sparingly as possible on the outside tiles but enough to keep the landscape interesting. The majority of trees are on the inside 25 tiles leaving you with 100k room. + All Transportation Connections + Abundant Natural Resources for your own suited play style (Build where you want too!) + I play tested road connections over and over to make sure you could build the types of roadway systems that you desire!   9. Hey to all of you Mayors! I am Mayor Jonlenn! I run three cities; Including "Midtown", "North Patinos" and the City I'm covering now, "South Patinos". You must wonder, why is there a south and north Patinos? You'll find out soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Following that, The City of South Patinos is the BIGGEST out of three, holding over 100K sims in this huge city. This building is where the tourists come to walk inside and take pictures, It was built in 1967, and it was known for being one of the first churches in the region of Vice Flats. At the striking increase of tourists coming into South Patinos, The income made the SP government millions! (made ME millions... ) And still today, this building above is always a great tourist attraction for our City. This Bridge is called the "Red Manner" and it reachs of the Outskirts to the town of "Red Manner". Being made in 1801, This bridge is known as "Holding the City Up though its tough times and good times" I'll stop for now, I'll post some more of the city soon.

  12. Hi guys, Share your favorite jokes. Let me start with this one: The following is supposedly an actual question given on University of IOWA chemistry mid term. The answer was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, which is why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law, (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, lets look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Teresa Banyan during my Freshman year, "...that it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you." Taking into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then, #2 cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze. The student received the only "A" given.

  14. Hi guys! First off I want to say that I am one of the very few that actually loves playing Simcity 2013 regardless of all the hate it gets. With over 300 hours played, I truly think it is a fun game and I enjoy playing it a lot! The only problem I have is that there are not much active people playing it. So, I started my search to see if there are people like me, people who actually enjoy playing this. I am open to playing with all type of players. The experienced ones and even the new guys! For those lurking on this forum who can easyly understand french, here's a short video from LeJoueurDuGrenier, a famous french game tester (So famous Maxis invited him to visit their studios recently, before SC2013 was released (kinda surprising, since his main show consists on bashing on bad games (not the case in this video, it's a "new concept" allowing him to sometime speak about good games))) a bit inspired by avgn (the video I'm linking is not from his main show, so don't try to find similarities between this video and avgn). This video is about the previous Simcity games, he made it 4 months ago, it's fun, and I'm posting it because it illustrate many points the new Simcity is lacking compared to previous one. He "trolls" a bit the games mechanics, and make many fun things we all did with previous simcities, just for fun. The sad thing, is that none of the fun things he does or illustrate in the video (except maybe the monster attack) are doable in Simcity 2013. So basically, I'm presenting this to you as a "Look at all the cool things SC2013 lacks of !". This show is called "Papy Grenier", a new concept he launched last year, he disguises into an old guy telling stories about "his youth" to his grandchildren by rememorating old videogames, confusing them (due to his pretended old age) with reality.     What the...? One thing I've noticed as I've moved around the United States is the proliferation of street fairs. A tradition dating back centuries, these fairs seem to pop up everywhere once the snow starts to melt* and the people begin to thaw out from a long, dull winter. From the tiny "Highland Hey Days" (Highland, MI) and the modest "Third Thursday Street Fest" (Willimantic, CT) to the sprawling "Ann Arbor Art Fairs" (Ann Arbor, MI) and beyond, these farmer's markets/art fairs/street festivals/etc. are a great excuse to let the good times roll. Oh! So that means...? Yeah. Now you can plop 20 more-or-less different lots into your SimCity so your Sims can throw up the orange barricades and bust out the beer kegs. Or display their arts and crafts. Or fresh fruits and vegetables. Or whatever. This set includes: 3 transit-enabled street entrance lots as well as 9 1x1, 4 1x2, 2 1x3, and 1 1x6 pre-fab Street Fair (also transit-enabled). And because 19 was a weird number for a set, I tossed in a temporary Bus Stop as well so that your Sims have no excuse not to go. Due to the TE, the entrances and the 1x6 will allow C+I growth adjacent to them. See below. Also included in this archive are two graphics: a large overview of all the lots, labeled, so you can discard the ones you may not want and a second one with a plop tip for getting growth behind them. And this file. (In case you missed it...) Please note that: a) this really isn't an original idea; I saw something similar posted to a Japanese BAT site a while back and it sort of stuck in my mind and b) these look a lot better sitting next to the NUTs Market Place Lots, the Kingston Market, the Flower Market, or the Brickworks Market. Because of this, I've set these lots to appear in the Landmark menu just below the NUT Market Place Lots. Full disclosure: I use NUTs MPL in my main city and ASF goes with it like peanut butter and jelly. Just sayin'. Wait a minute, don't you...? Yeah, I suck at 3D modeling. (Need proof? Download my other lots.) So I'm just the lot-man in this case. Full credit for everything that appears on these lots goes out to the creators of the dependencies below. If anyone has issue with me using their props, please let me know and I'll remove them and update this pack. Aw, man! Dependencies?!
