  1. Hi. Since i have two steam accounts i decided to start working on a realistic European city with stark contrasts to Kendrick (my US inspired series). I will of course cover many of the differences between US and EU cities as far as urban planning, infrastructure etc etc. But also follow a different narrative this time around; one of success, wealth, constant demand & development. In our first episode we start out small, building a central train station, the surrounding neighbourhood, and some basic initial infrastructure by rail and highway to get the city going. Hope you enjoy!
  2. Hi all you lovely people of Simtropolis! I have some exciting news to share with you all, because the last few months I've been hard at work on a Content Creator Pack for Cities: Skylines called European Suburbia! It will be available the 19th of October (same patch as Green Cities). It's a theme for low density residential (I always missed how the European theme didn't have low density houses) based of houses in England, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. There aren't a whole lot of pictures on the store page, so I grabbed a few more myself - you can check them all out here. I'd also like to say thank you to all of you - I've gotten so many tips, feedback, ideas and support here, which has helped me get to this point! <3
  3. HY everybody! after few years without new, and after my SC4 City (Monteraud), i've started a new city on CS : Vaastra. It's european style. Fews pics of start : Somebody is able to recognize the map????

  5. So a few years ago I had a go at bating. Unfortunately due to computer issues I never got around to finishing any of them, and long since lost the files. A bit of a shame really; I was nearly done modeling these two sets of buildings, all they really needed were nightlites and some desaturating of the textures. Oh well. Last weekend, for some odd reason, I decided to reinstall SimCity 4 and play it. But, after downloading a ton of new content, I found I still couldn't make the cities I wanted (mostly modern urban Dutch). The first thing that bothered me was the lack of varied in utilities, specifically pumping stations. So I looked up some modern pumping stations here in the Netherlands, and, the idiot that I am, downloaded gmax to see if I could make something of it: The first one I had a go at was a largish sewage pumping station: Unfortunately this is the material it is made out of, and I am not quite sure how to texture this. I have half a mind of simply modelling the panels instead of texturing it. In the mean time I decided to model another pumping station, a small drainage pump this time: It has the same issue with texturing, so oh well. While looking through pumping stations here in the Netherlands, I came across this little thingy and decided it also really needed modelling (for a change it is an actual ground water pumping station!): It is actually coming along quite nicely. I just need to finish the doors, add the rain gutter and some roof junk. I possibly need to figure out how to model a few pumps to fill the large frontal roof if the windows are going to be transparant (ugh...) At the same time I was really annoyed by the power utilities in the game. So yeah... I came across this funky little substation, and since it takes no effort to model had a go at it: Not sure if there is interest in this sort of thing though. I also created this substation (could also work as an industrial lot). I want to make it a wall to wall lot, but, as the roof is overhanging to the sides, I don't know how to go about it. And, if I ever feel confident enough to do so, I'd love to have a go at this power plant. The turbine halls are simple enough, but the chimney seems daunting. Anyway; thoughts and suggestions? Compliments or hate is also welcome. Oh, and IrfanView apparently does not like transparency. I hope you can ignore the black outlines on the images, they are not supposed to be there.

  7. Hi All, I know, I will find everything in the internet, but it is for me extremely time consuming, and I would like to come fast to the point. Since a long time already I want to use some specific mods to SimCity 4, and I would like to pay around 30 EUR for someone who would like to help me with that. 1. Using SimCity 4 with European Buildings, Streets etc. + in general how to enrich building library with landmarks and so on. 2. Adjusting the size of the cities - I saw very large cards on the internet, but don't know how to create those. 3. Different Architecture over the time: I know there is a functionality that changes the architecture of new buildings over the time. I would like to do this in an european style. If you would like to help me, let me know here, a skype session would be the best to go through the installation process etc. If you want more money, let me know. The payment would work via an official ebay display, to ensure everything is set up properly. Philipp
  8. Part 5: Gabrielle

Expect a lot of text for this update as I want to talk about plans and ideas for the future and what is currently happening for this map. Ignore it if you want. I'm sorry it's been a while since the last entry. I have done a tonne of stuff in game since the last update, got a bit carried away and didn't post anything. But don't worry, here is the next update! So, I only have one new building for the theme, despite the long time, but I'm probably going to have two new buildings for the next update as I'm getting used to making them and I'm learning from my past mistakes. I feel like I need to focus more on the theme and less on the city. I've only got 5 buildings for this theme, and I need way more before I can make a proper city out of them. But here is the building. I had some scaling problems that took a few days to sort out. I should have made an update in the beginning of the month, but I kinda needed to work on the model a bit. Anyway, it's done. Just showing that the LOD has its own illumination map. And there we go. Sorry about my rambling, but I need some excuses, I mean, explanations for my absence. Anywayyyy. So, remember that city I showed briefly last update? (I don't really know if it's actually a city or just a big town near the main city) Well, I've really progressed with it, and I've developed a sort of base for how my main city is going to be designed. This journal will be something new as it isn't going into the rural farming areas, but now into the more built up urban areas. Anyway, for comparison, here was Gabrielle before: And here it is now: Yeah. A lot has been added since I last posted it, so let's just get right into it... We'll start off in the centre. I'm currently using the default European buildings, but I'll replace them with the theme I'm working on when I can. I feel like this terraced housing block is a bit too big. I might need to break it up a bit and shrink it down. Just remember that nothing here is final. Some things will be different in the next update. Also note that I'm not covering the city in great detail in this update and just tour around the general area, as it isn't really finished yet. I'll be covering it bit by bit in the next updates as I detail and finalise different areas more. Here is a top down view of the parking by the station: And here is the bus terminal. I'll cover public transport in a future entry, it's not done yet. This is gonna be the city/town hall. I don't know if I will keep it here though. I'm not all too happy with this area as I made it when I was still experimenting with the buildings and how to use them. I will eventually change it up when I get to it. I forgot to get some pictures of the college I put down, but you can see it in the back there. I'll cover it when I get back to this area again in the future though. I like to split the city by north and south where the railway is. This is the "south" part, and you might remember that there used to be a highway going through here. I made a cool interchange for it with road markings and stuff and ended up not liking where the highway was. I moved the interchange with the magnificent Move-It mod to another area, which took ages but it worked! The highway now goes around the city, which is more realistic (and prettier). I'll cover the interchange when I get to the place it's at in the future. There is the the train station on the top left. There's a train line that goes to the main city. There's also an express line that takes people directly to the city without stopping in the middle. These lines get used a lot and are quite full (especially during rush hour with the amazing Rush Hour mod!) Here's a closer look at the south area: These default European buildings are going to get replaced by my theme when it's ready. I feel like those parked car props are a bit too bright. I'll change that up. I think these buildings look really cool (done with the Move-It mod, by the way!) but I need to move them around a bit because they're taking up a lot of space. I made an industrial area nearby too. I don't really have any district names yet because the district boundaries are changing around. Hopefully by the next update, I can get all the districts sorted out. Some apartments near the warehouses. This area is actually pretty detailed, but it's still unfinished so I'll leave an in-depth look for a future update. And here are some taller appartements. I also put down a high school there on the bottom left. It fits in with the other nearby buildings. Shoutout to the Park People Generators on the workshop! The start of some semi-detached housing: I don't know if I will keep those terraced houses on the left. They just feel misplaced on the bottom of a big hill like that. And this area too. There might just be too much repetition here, and I need to loosen it up a bit. This area is actually quite detailed. And that's it! I just want to to say a thank you to all the modders and asset creators out there that make this game something completely different. I also want to say a thanks to you if you follow this journal, thanks for taking some time off your day to see what I have done in my own city, not yours. If you have any suggestions for improvement, now's a good time to post as this city is still in development. Thanks, and I'll be back next month with hopefully (I can't promise) two new buildings for the theme, and happy Halloween!
  9. PAUSED DUE TO WORKING ON OWN TROPICAL REGION Hello everbody, Project started: 08.04.2017 Project ended: (estimate: 1 year) Mod list: in progress Asset list: in progress //Dont have experience with video making, dont have any program yet. Also my style is different to others. Once I finish some part, sometimes I destroy whole area and start with better sense. If anyone can help me with some newbie tricks to video making, I much appreciate!!// Few days ago, after I reached 1600 played hrs in this game I decided make something, whats close to me (i think its bad sentence, still best what i can do :X). I was thinking how decrease workshop items, especially buildings. I wanted massively use vanilla european buildings, so there wasnt much to think about. Plan: (every Sunday I am updating stuff) My plan isnt build Prague in 1:1. Anyway it is impossible yet. But I want build some well-known places at its own positions to create similar shape of city. In final phase I want have over 250k people at maximum! I am big detailer, so building blocks/districts take much time for me (I am too thinking about every prop I place) Currently stage: Placing rails First step: is create river Vltava. Shipping canal Podbaba (you can see on screen below) Change terrain heights to right ones, build around coasts. Create rail system (its is huge, huge system which I am looking forward!) Find the way how to build Prague Castle. Prague - few interesting facts: Prague Castle is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest castle in the world (70 000 m² is equivalent to 17,297 acre or 0,027 mile²) Charles Square is one of the largest squares in the world and was the largest town square of the medieval Europe. It used to be called "The Big Marketplace" (Tržiště velké) or „Cattle Market" (Dobytčí trh) The most famous square is certainly the Wenceslas Square, formerly known as Horse Market (Koňský trh). It was renamed Saint Wenceslas square (Svatováclavské náměstí) in 1848 on the proposal of Karel Havlíček Borovský. The Prague pneumatic post is the world's last preserved municipal pneumatic post system It is an underground system of metal tubes under the wider centre of Prague, totaling about 55 kilometres in length. It crosses the river Vltava three times. You can visit the Astronomical Clock not only in Prague but even thousand miles away - in Seoul. The replica was built in a popular district Hongda and works as a restaurant and exhibition centre. Prague Subway (metro) comprises three lines, serving 57 stations, and consists of a transit network 59,3 km (= 35.7 mi.) long. The shortest distance is between Hlavní nádraží (Main Train Station) and Muzeum (425 m = 0,26 mi.), the longest distance is between Nádraží Holešovice (Holešovice Train Station) and Kobylisy (2748 m = 1708 mi.) Vršovice is a less well-known district of Prague but in the last century there was one of the world largest amusement park - the Eden Pleasure Gardens with roller coaster, helter-skelter or just boating. Now Tesco and the Slavia football stadium stand here. (Slavia Praha is my most favourite football team) And finally some first tastings:
  10. Lake Pointless - Number 2

Hi there! It has been a long time since my last post. Events in real life, the state of the world and of the political situation developing in my own country and elsewhere have made games seem a little pointless to me. I have been checking in to the site quite frequently and although I post rarely, i really value the community here, so I would like to dedicate this post to all of you reading (and those not reading). However, I do want to give a couple of special shoutouts for people who have really helped inspire / create some superb content to this wonderful game: RSC/MGB204. All the texture unification work is incredible, but what really counts are the really detailed replies to my (and many other people's) questions in all the forums, I could not have got all these Japanese overpasses and whatnot working without your wonderful tutorial on installing them. LnX - just for mindboggleingly consistent uploads that I try to copy (badly - please see images below). Finally Fasan, who may be gone, but the pictures that remain on SC4D are for my personal preferences, the best pictures ever created using the medium of Simcity 4. Enough about me, here are some pictures: This is an overview of the city on the shores of Lake Pointless. Last Entry covered the suburban area to the right of this image and the fields beyond. This time we are looking at the northern end of the lake and the town around it in more detail. Ok, it's a highway interchange, but it was a slightly unusual one, so here is a picture Simcity 4 doesn't have many aggressive youths, but those that have a bit too much aggression can run like crazy on these football pitches, which should keep them out of mischief. There is some need for a fence to stop the ball going into the busy road, but times are tight! First 'flipped' image. I really like the totally different feel you get from doing this to a picture. A railway, some retaining walls overview of the area more flipping. Here in the suburbs the other side of the highway. suburbs giving way to industry crossing the bridge now onto the other bank of the river I wanted to try something a bit clever, and i'm not sure it has been wholly successful, but here is a combination of game water and MMP water, and lots of retaining walls. I guess the MMP side will improve with practice. A jumbled little neighbourhood of mainly working class homes. railway crossing. I really enjoythe reskinned japanese overpasses. This is not the most spectacular use of them! A local school surrounded by suburbia. Looks washed out because i forgot to change the contrast Old mills on the edge of town by the lake shore Now we get into the proper city centre. Trying to keep the shapes interesting! I know there is quite a mix of building styles but diagonals are really hard to find! close to the station are some very grand buildings wider overview of the city centre The Cricket ground (Americans and other Europeans, if you don't know what this is ask an Indian/Pakistani/Sri Lankan//English/Australian etc.) the library, the station and then the waterfront in mosaic. Different perspective. I love the distinctive library BAT in the middle. Now back across the river to finish off the rest of the city centre. I dont know why I couldn't make the water look nice here with MMPs, but once I had built everything was too scared to take serious remedial action in order to spruce up the water! closeup of the same area. why not stop for a coffee (or Tea if that way inclined) in the waterfront coffee shop. More quayside Finally my favourite of the lot, horizontally flipped mosaic of the small station down to the quayside, taking in some parkland and diagonals en-route. Hope you enjoyed

Hello best community on this planet! Few days ago I was watching videos on YT, then I saw creativeDEX. He impressed me so much! 14. Den Otterdam

Hello Citybuilders After a lot of years building a city in SimCity 4 (Burgerwaard) I have made the transfer to Cities Skylines. This game is very nice with very nice graphics, and with the community building loads of mods there is nothing standing in your way to build a dream city.. So you guess it right, thats is exactly what i have been started. When i am building live you can watch my stream at Twitch if you like. It is a very basic stream no fancy stuff, just building in cities skylines with background music. I do not speak or chat in my stream beacuse that would take to much time off the building time Click here for my Twitch Channel My Cities Skylines City A long long time ago there was a river where Otters used to live. Some people decide to live next tot that river and build a small dam and a few homes. Den Otterdam was born. The citizens long long time ago, decided to honor the litte Otter animals in there City Shield. Welcome to the city of Soon i am going to start with this city journal, mind that i do this for a hobby and that it is a ton of work to build a custom city in Cities Skylines with a lot of handplacing props and stuff.. Everything in the city is Dutch named but i will provide English translation. Also i need to make a lot screenshots, adjust them and then place them on the journal so stay tuned.. In the mean time you get a few nice teasers of Den Otterdam in progress (please keep in mind that it is a city in development)
  15. Downtown Progress

I've made some progress with the downtown area. The first shot is of the "main passenger station" (Which already is quite under dimensioned regarding the size of the city ) Bridges with traintracks leading towards the station. In the background you see two modern office buildings: One of the island (im planing of having 2-3 island connected to the downtown area: A new office building taking shape: A "vacant" plot, which soon enough will house a new building: Thats all for now, stay tuned!
