  1. Overgrown Fence

From the album City Showcase (S3-23-M)

Overgrown stuff, common in my city.
  2. Back in Skylines!

And we are back in action! Today i present you something new which i made which is... ... A new map! That's right,i'm making a fully custom map for my newest city,so stay tuned for more updates! To get started here's an overview of current progress: I say this is about 15% roughly of the work that needs to be done.Trees will come after terraforming,so that's why you won't see any trees on the pictures. More images: This is i think an unique part of the region, because i never seen anyone to do something like this. It was inspired by an area on the Cape Breton island. Here you see a larger mountain,Which is not far away from the City Center Not far from this mountain is this coastal area,Which i think turned out fantastically, and will even look much better with trees! Here you see is a common thing in mountainous areas:two lane road winding through the terrain. This is a smaller end of a river delta,i think it looks very nice, and will look better if i add trees. That's another mountain Here is one of the smaller rivers which run through the county, ideal for canoeing. The same river, upstate in the mountains And finally,a road interchange which serves a road that goes up into that mountains(Ski resort planned) That's it for today's update,i hope you enjoyed it,stay tuned for more!
  3. Somehow, asset editor doesn't work anymore, I can't add any trailers to my train, any ideas ? Do you have the same trouble ?
  4. Silvarret

Hello everyone, In my searches for inspiration on youtube, I've encountered this channel of a guy named Silvarret. He's dutch, and as far as I could see, also a god builder, seriously. He plays Cities Skylines and theme park games like Planet Coaster and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Parkitect's theme park called Cydonian Hills from the official trailler was made by him! The game developers contacted Silvarret and asked him to build a park to be presented when in the game when launched. All episodes are on his channel. I'd like to share it because I believe he deserves more credits for being awesome.
  5. This is just for discussion purposes. I love Cities Skylines and the incredible amount of flexibility it offers, its quite possibly the best City Simulator ever released with SC4 running neck and neck with it. CSL offers real 3D and feel with a market of mods just as plentiful of SC4 and growing with the ability to make and adjust content in the game seemingly effortless as it was in SC4. I have for the most part completely dropped SC4 in favour of CSL, however; there is one thing I REALLY miss from SC4...and you guessed it... Region Play. The Maps in CSL can range fairly large, the largest one - 81 tiles, I've heard is about the size of the Metro area of Washington D.C... that's pretty big I'm not going to lie, problem is, thats still only large enough for one relatively large city. I'm also aware of a building limit in CSL as well so most don't see a need for maps any larger than 81 tiles. I specifically play Space Engineers, a game that allows you to craft bases, ships, hubs, anything you like from scratch. It's not so much a great city building being its based on a block system and the population is limited to the exact number of players online at the time, however; the game features a Planet System, meaning you have an entire PLANET to build on and let me say, you do feel very small in the grand scheme of the overall world, on top of which you can also travel to other planets without ever leaving any loaded instance by really physically flying to them. I'd say this is a bit overkill but at the same time revolutionary as you have an entire planet you can do whatever you want on and every time I'm on a planet I always think "Man how awesome it would be if I could build a CSL city here, or a highway there, or a road, train, ect." I'm not attempting to converge CSL & Space Engineers. What I'm saying is, I wish there were some way that we could at the very minimal support regions the size of countries, continents, or even planets to lay down our dream cities. Such regions, however they may be imbuked (Countries, Continents, or even Planets) could be locally hosted, or shared on a network for multiplayer. Unlike SC2013, all tiles would be accessible, and especially unlike CXL, region / world map would not be limited to a bitmap drawing that populated terrain only after selecting it, everything would be there and accessible and even possible to travel from your alotment clean cross country to another city, another players town, or your own establishment elsewhere in the world. ALSO unlike SC2013 or CSL, it would be an entirely optional feature, not forced. Connecting Highways, resources, and routes between two major cities would be something only an Admin or Moderator could do on a multiplayer region, however single player regions will impose no such limits. Mods are shared between each planet and region. On multi-player region, to prevent conflicts with other mods, a Moderator or Admin would have to approve of the mod, until it is..it would go into a pending queue. Now, tackling the building limit. I wonder greatly, if its possible to enforce only a building limit within the city limits of a certain city, and not the entire region as to allow others elsewhere on the map to continue to sprawl and of course only load their city into your PC's RAM when you're within the vicinity of it as to prevent your PC from slowing to a crawl when you're on a map filled with cities spread 100's of miles apart. Basically.. I desire to share multi-player regions in a way thats not forced as it was in 2013 or CXL.. Much like I used to do with BlueHope in SC4. Does any of this idea seem possible regardless of how feasible or infeasible it may be?
  6. Arrowhead Valley is a map created for a Cities: Skylines collaboration including myself, Strictoaster, and Freshpopcorn called "Arrowhead Junction". The map is designed to be used with the Arrowhead Valley map theme as well as the "Clarity" LUT. This map relies heavily on the textures in the custom map theme in particular, so without these two, the map will look very strange. Arrowhead Valley is a desert/arid map set in a dry empty valley with one lone river flowing through the middle. This map has full airplane/train/traffic connection functionality (minus boat connections, for obvious reasons) but we highly recommend the use of the 81 tile mod for full control over where on the map you'd like to build. What is Arrowhead Junction? Arrowhead Junction is a Cities: Skylines collaboration project that aims to bring a new type of series to the city building community. The series features a totally custom map and map theme featuring 100% unique textures and a hand-picked selection of assets and mods from the Steam Workshop, which complement the style of city that is being built. Each player has total control over their respective episodes, but the final outcome is the sum of all three builders efforts. While the basic plans for the region are in place, the endeavor will be completely inspired by each individual's creation per their episodes. We certainly hope you share our enthusiasm for this project! 8. Version 1.0.0

    1,402 Downloads

Please follow this page for future updates! New files in this collection will be added to this page periodically. The American Roadsign collection - popular on the Steam Workshop - has now been added to Simtropolis! This collection includes gantry signs, barriers, delineators, and all sorts of other goodies. It's always expanding, so keep up to date by following this file or the Steam Workshop collection! Currently, the collection includes over twenty assets. Here's a taste of what you can expect: These gantry signs are great for any sort of avenue or highway. They're generic enough for most situations, and just the right size for most road types. While we've got plenty of aptly named BGS's - big green signs - there are also some smaller exit signs available for download! It doesn't stop there - delineators, barriers, and markers are essentials too! For this and more, make sure to hit the download button here or on the Steam Workshop! Don't forget to subscribe to this page either - that way you'll know exactly when new content has been uploaded!
  9. Across the nightly river

From the album Night Scenes (S3-12-E)

Looking at the Apostel Paulus Kirche and the colourful Minsel Ferris wheel from across (a part) of the river Rehne. Full highres image here in description. (not edited in any way)
  10. Welcome to the third update of my city experience! Daveopia the original city has taken a backseat to my new, beautiful city, built on the knowledge of the original Daveopia. Currently Daveopia 2.0 is roughly at 85K population, a 50 hour work in progress build. I would like to thank the prop makers cause I use a lot of them. Lots of pics from different times in my cities lifetime. Enjoy! Please comment! I want to hear your thoughts on this passion of mine. This is currently where Daveopia 2.0 is in development, roughly 85K. There is a growing central business district, airport and university system. City as a whole is expanding onto roughly 5 squares. View from my newest district in the foreground to the CBD. Aerial of the heart of Daveopia. The large entry loop and the serpent like elevated pedestrian pathway system seem dominate. Picture of the entry loop below. Entry Loop into the city. Far in the background are my satellite dishes, makes for an interesting backdrop. Large overview of the city. University System Love interchanges. Urban area, densely packed. Entertainment district, red light type of night. This might be my most satisfying picture. What your seeing is the culmination of roughly 8-9 bus routes, four metro loops and a network of elevated pedestrian walkways come together. Always busy, thousands of daveopians. Make sure to look at the "vintage" pic of this area in its infancy in the journal later. Airport System. Albeit extremely large for the city but it makes up for the lack of a seaport at the moment. Train. Yasss. Okay, now for a teleport back in time, below are pics from Daveopia 2.0's early stages! Times were easier then. Horse Farm still stands in same spot. One of my favorite shots. Farm Area. More, well, farm. This is the vintage transportation hub pic I was referring to earlier in the journal entry, same hub but very early on in the cities development. This picture reminds me of the 1980's for some reason. First expansion over the river in what will eventually become my most elite residential area. Growing city. I would say city population of 40K at this moment. Prison located far away from civilization, linked with a dirt road. Has its own water system and wind turbine. City Population roughly 45K at this point. Central Business District growing, highways expand out preparing for growth. Large cemetery in foreground. City Population 65K at the point, CBD grew a lot. Satellite stations overlooking Daveopia. ________________ Time for something special. This is my city from literately 2008 called Davidious. Crazy how graphics have changed. Thought some would enjoy. _________________ Hope you liked my city! Till next time.
  11. Encyclopedic Entry no.3 - The Blueprints

Taking a break from the usual localized entries it's time for another all-encompassing E2 update(the last one was almost 8 months ago!) E2 is short for Encyclopedic Entry and it is a comprehensive analysis/overview of one specific system covering the entire region. The original plan was to have 12 of these updates, but there will be 10 now after cutting off 3 and adding 1 special entry - that special entry is today's. What's special about this E2 is that instead of focusing on one specific system I'll instead be showing a variety of images from many different places across the region. Additionally to keep things fresh (for the images already seen) I'll be doing it in a way that as far as I know has not previously been done on Simtropolis - we'll be seeing their blueprints. These places encompass my best work in SC4 to date and my favorite things to create in-game(Industry, Infrastructure, Interchanges, Road & Rail networks, Lattice Towers & Skylines), with the exclusion of only my mmp work which doesn't pick up well with the blueprint photoshopping. In any case I figured this would be as good of a time as any for an update that showcases the best of what I've done so far since I've likely passed the half way point of the CJ. This entry is in essence both a review of what's been shown and a teaser of what's to come(all the images in spoilers). It will quite likely be the biggest single entry of the CJ both in terms of the number of photo's and quality of content so I hope you like what you see. Industry & Infrastructure Seeing as how I'm working through the industrial heartland of the region it's only fitting that I start with Industry first. Dresden Generation Station You might be asking how many times must I show this place before enough's enough? lol, well these images are a little different then the ones before but more importantly I'm please to announce that I'm planning on releasing this relot on the exchange, so the next you'll be seeing this facility is in your own city. As is the complex is made from several different modular lots, perhaps 2 dozen different ones in total. So it's going to take me a while to put it all together in one or two lots and it probably wouldn't look exactly the same but I'll do the best I can. Eastlea Power Plant Hillsboro TS South Shore Sewage Treatment Plant For sneak a peak at some of the industrial facilities I will be showing more of shortly, click on the spoilers below. Highway Interchanges It simply wouldn't be an all-inclusive update without showing you my highway interchanges. Here's a fine selection of which for your viewing pleasure Cisco Bay Highway 709/700 Interchange Highway 709/Crosby Ave. Interchange Sky Bridge, southern approach Dresden The Z-change The Web Looper Junction, Highway 700/702(S) Lindin City The Butterfly, Highway 705/709 () Spaghetti Junction v1.0(NAM 32), Highway 700/704/707 Spaghetti Junction v2.0(NAM 34), Highway 700/704/707 Perhaps the biggest spoilers of all, some of the other major interchanges which all together have have taken me hundreds of hours to create. Road & Rail Networks ICR & Fastraxx rail lines in Lindin City Frieght and Passenger rail lines in Dresden Telecommunications A personal favorite of mine, still have plenty of custom BAT's(and relots) to show & release The Ring of Steel from below KIRO TV Tower WBNS TV Tower Some of the towers yet to come; Skylines So far very little in the way of skylines has been shown so far but that will change as I get closer to the center of the metropolis. Lindin City Cisco Bay Dresden Click on the Spoiler below for teasers of Central Pretoria; I'd love to hear which one is your favorite picture or place and what you are most looking forward to seeing next. Also big thanks to all those who voted on the last poll with regards to the hydro pylon textures, I'll give it one more week before the results are final as it's pretty close right now but it looks like I'll be changing the textures afterall. *Update 07/08 I've modified the contrast and lightness settings on a number of the images so that the details are more clearly seen.
  12. Heavy traffic on the L188 in Mitteck

From the album Thrilling Traffic (S3-09-W)

The area around this on- and offramp of the L188 in Mitteck is currently one of the busiest places in the city. Apart from the middle of the night, cims can expect traffic like this at any time of day.
  13. Hello guys! I've been playing Cities Skylines since the release, but i just got the right hardware to make mods in a short period of time by now. I have knowledge in Blender and all the basic workflow for the assets, and my first big project would be a couple of old vehicles, this can be a good feature for just certain circumstances (like eye-candy shots or zoom-out gameplay) because of the already know lack of animations for vehicles (as need for the horses). But i'm really excited about this! Maybe there is someone to help too with this project for old 1700's-1800's cities? Thanks
  14. 2.8 The Ramps

    From the album Southside

Taking the path to the right, we loop around towards the end of the park. I even see some benches and tables - it's a decent place to relax, in spite of not so decent company - I'll take unruly residents over heat exhaustion any day.

  15. 1.8 Swimming Upstream

    From the album Southside

Cops or not, the lack of bike paths is a real killer - and I say that in a regrettably literal sense. At least things don't look too busy today...

  17. 2.7 Turner Told Me The Sun is God

    From the album Southside

Looking to the left again, we're blinded by the inescapable glory of a morning sunrise. I think it's best we keep the sun to our backs. Let's take a right.

  18. 2.6 Behemoth

    From the album Southside

...and I suppose that's where this mess all began. Although we are still confined by that industrial behemoth's grasp, things are better here; on the other side of the river.

  19. 2.5B Back Alley

    From the album Southside

A lack of funding or a lack of care - whatever the reason, the morning light has no qualms about taking your mind off of this filthy cesspool disguised as a nature trail.

  20. 2.5 Back Alley

    From the album Southside

The sanitation department may not be doing their best, but at least the police department has cleaned up the trash in some respect.

  21. 2.4 Bastion

    From the album Southside

The police station is a beacon to the weary cyclist - a bastion of relative safety.

  22. 2.1 Uptown

    From the album Southside

Taking a left, we leave the south side of town for the marginally better half.

  23. 2.0 Grit

    From the album Southside

Small streets, big streets, whatever. The grit and grime around here always has character - and sometimes it even has two legs.

    © Bipin

  24. 1.9 Indy Track Temptation

    From the album Southside

Come to think of it, things are never that busy around here, but I guess that's part of the problem in a way - eighteen-wheelers speed down here like crazy, and that ambulance doesn't help shake those fears. It's as if the van companies only hire drivers with repressed urges for letting loose on the Indy track...

  25. 1.7 End of The Road

    From the album Southside

Fortunately, the gravel path isn't too long. Besides, I suppose it isn't that bad so many of our tax dollars are spent on the cops - given the neighbourhood, I'd hate to be around if that wasn't the case.
