  2. Hi, All! I have a relatively simple question and I'm hoping the wonderful members of ST can provide some kind of help. This week, I just procured another copy of SC4. My intentions were to build my plugins folder slowly as I build cities, while also learning the art of lot editing to fill my maps with essentially all custom content (as we see so many members of ST do so masterfully). After loading it into my PC and downloading some of the basic plugins as a start (NAM, terrain mod, Mapper, maps, etc), I found that my PC is far too outdated for me to run this game with the intentions that I have. So how large of an upgrade would I have to make in order to smoothly operate SC4 with a deep plugin folder? I'm open to any suggestions, whether they be to simply upgrade my current system in some way or even if I should go as far as to buying a gaming computer. I just figured that the community who is always posting beautiful work filled with custom content must have an idea of the computing capacity necessary to the run the game in such a manner. I thank you all in advance for the help!
  3. Replies: @Schulmanator:Oh yeah! It was Boxing Day! Haha, I had completely forgotten. Thanks for reminding me lol. @TekindusT: I had no idea lol, but that's great! Thank you very much Daniel! @ggamgus: Thanks Emir. Luv ya @Forthwall: Lol, Thanks Shub @111222333444: Lol Carl @Fox: Thank you very much Foxy! @elavery: Ah yes, the 12 days of chirstmas! Thank you very much Spidey! @dubaidude303: Thank you very much man! Glad to know you enjoyed it! @raynev1: Thanks! @MilitantRadical: To you as well. Thank you very much! So wait, what? Well, yeah, I forgot to make a new year's update with fireworks and jazz. I was in Washington D.C for New Year's Eve, watching fireworks over the Potomac River lol. The hotel didn't have free wi-fi ($10 per night ), so I didn't make any New Year's pictures... But here's a little something coming soon to Atlantsia...For those of you that have been paying ridiculously close attention, you may note that the one city of Atlantsia I haven't covered is Badi al Zaman, which is about to come up. I want to make some special thanks before I show the teaser: First I would like to thank Fox for constantly reminding me about the Badi al Zaman project, and for even scheduling flights to the airport before I had started working on it. Thanks my motivational friend! Second I would like to thank Ernst (Peter007), for helping me last summer working my way through BAT. I would have quit BAT long ago without his assistance on Skype. Finally, I want to thank all the great guys at AIN, USNW, CINL, and Simtropolis. Whether it's commenting, Skyping, or Private Messaging, many of you have helped, inspired, motivated, criticized, and encouraged me. This CJ would have ended after the first update had you not. And without further ado, here is Badi al Zaman (BAZ) International Airport: (Note: This is only a Teaser, full update next time) Atlantsia is today the #1 CJ on Simtropolis by rating (If you don't believe me, go to the New CJ Section, click Custom Filters, and select CJs by Rating). I am so glad to know that, and am very happy that you guys are enjoying this CJ. Thank you very much for your continued support, and I hope to keep things alive throughout 2013 .
  4. Hank Haney's World Golf

One of the best golf simulators next to Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. What made this game stand out was the customization. Literally, every single object can be customized or added in the simulator, player skins, golf balls, courses, logos, flags, clubs, 3D objects. Gameplay I’m surprised this game wasn’t more popular, but I think what destroyed the popularity was the difficult swing mechanics. You have the option for four different swing types: 3-click 2-click Vertical mouse Horizontal mouse There are no stats in the game, but when you create a golfer, a slide determines how accurate your golfer is, or how much distance he can hit the ball. Don’t worry, you can go back into the “Create Player” tab and change this slider all you want. I managed to overcome the difficult swing mechanics, by constantly adjusting the slider to get a pattern that matched my method of play. As most golf games, this has a total of 9 game modes... Stroke Stableford Modified Stableford Practice Match play Skins Nearest to the pin Longest drive Multiplayer Note: multiplayer has Internet and LAN server options, all the games mode listed above can be played in multiplayer. Also, there tons of courses to play, 20 full 18 hole (fictional) courses are included, with more to download online (Only if I could find the website; look at the company’s, but no luck). Another interesting part, aside from regular courses, you have the option to play on Par 3 and crazy golf courses. If you have a good enough graphics card, the draw distance allows you to see the entire course in your view. Course editor One of the best course editors I have seen in a golfing simulator! You can customize the layout, terrain, panoramas, and even change the physics for each texture. If you have picture editing software like Photoshop, you can make your own textures to use for your course. It’s very simple to use, just press and hold the space bar to draw the shapes you want, then you select what type of object you are creating. If the shape isn’t perfect, you can change it by selecting and dragging the control points to the desired direction. Pins can also be customized, from color to the flag image displayed. If you have 3D modeling software, adding your own 3D objects for use with the course editor should be easy (don’t know what the file type is?). There are tons more features I could list, but that list would be HUGE, but these were the best to create a fully customized course that you can share with friends! If I were to rate this game, here would be my verdict. Gameplay 7.5 – Real-time passing of time – choose a tee time and watch it go from morning to evening. Swing/ball physics 5.8 – Swinging can be very difficult, but if you can find the correct position for the slider, you can get good playing scores. Course editor 9.0 – It’s almost perfection! So many options to customize, but occasionally editing terrain can be challenging, especially when the camera is in real-time isometric; takes practice! Graphics 7.0 – the graphics that come with the game are decent enough, especially if you have an advanced video card, but when you make your own players or course, the images can be as realistic as you want. Audio/music 6.5 – the sounds of hitting the ball are clean and crisp, but the same for audio is the same for graphics, you can change the sounds in the files or the course editor to how ever realistic you want. Overall 7.8 – A great game to customize, almost more fun than playing the game. At a price of $10 dollars US on Amazon, it won’t be a huge loss if it’s not what you hoped it to be. http://www.amazon.com/Hank-Haney-World-Golf-Pc/dp/B003NS3KAI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354639983&sr=8-1&keywords=Hank+haney%27s+world+golf If any of you are wondering, yes, here are some gameplay videos, this one made by Dmitry Cheva.
  5. NCDs Workbench

    Version 1.00

Greetings and salutations from the ghost of enceedee! Greetings to kitty black and Andromeda!! waves and greets y'all The enclosed file contains all of the major project Lots I was working on a few years ago. This includes the Whyalla Steel Mill Lots, Open Pit Mine Lots and several others mentioned in my Railyards and Steel Mills thread. WARNING: For experienced users only! All of these Lots were "Works In Progress". There is no readme.txt. Some may have very large dependency lists and should not be downloaded by those who dislike them, or by people who don't know how to use applications like: the Lot Editor, iLive's DATreader, or the SC4Tool in order to scan for the dependencies used by these custom lots. I couldn't even begin to list all the ones used, except, they were all available in 2008/2009 and they all use my rail textures. You have been warned. Any complaints about dependencies or complexity posted here will only show that you didn't read the warning and have no idea what you are doing. That being said, feel free to complete, modify, re-lot, and re-release these creations as you see fit, with one exception: You must mention where you got them, that's all. The Whyalla Lots were created with the old version of my Rail textures and may need to be re-lotted with the newer textures. This will be a time consuming task. That's why I'm releasing them "as is" now, I don't have the time or energy to do it. The Open Pit Mine is basically an Iron ore mine and comprises about 5-6 large lots that fit together to form one large mining operation. Two of these have to have the terrain sculpted before plopping for them to look right. Please see my thread "Of Railyards and Steel Mills" for more information. [edit] I should also mention that included in this package is some re-lotted work of Peg's Sawmill and Timber Lots and the Slatyfork Sawmill Lot. The models for these Lots are available seperately on the STEX and SimPeg sites. The re-lots in this package use the most recent rail textures made by me. They are meant to examples of where the new textures can be used. Many of these Lots would have been better served as "Rewards" but I don't know how to make "modular" lots into Rewards. So, if you are an experienced modder and need some fresh ideas, check these out.
  6. I didn't see any topics about 0Ad yet so I thought I'd mention that there is a lot of potential with this military rts game since it will have the option for full custom modding which is great. "0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy game under development by Wildfire Games. It is a historical war and economy game focusing on the years between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500. The game will be cross-platform, playable on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. The game aims to be entirely free and open-source. In addition, the developers do not get paid for their work, nor will they charge for their product. The game has been in development since 2000, with actual work starting in 2003. There is no official release date set for the finished version." 0AD official site 0AD official forum 0AD mods at Mod Database 0AD on youtube 0AD screenshots 0AD on wikipedia 0AD on facebook 0AD can be interpreted as a "3d remake" of the first Age of Empires game, but more historically realistic. After over 10 years of independent work the game is nearing completion. Probably the best feature of the game is the moddability as described on the official page: "WFG started out as a game modification team, and true to our heritage and the FOSS philosophy, we believe being able to tinker with a game contributes to lasting fun and learning. Aspects of the game like game logic, artwork, and data can be tweaked with tools or by modifying XML and javascript files to totally change the game." So there is a potential for making city builder game mods with this game, as RandomEd discusses his ideas for a Caesar 3 mod in this forum thread here. 7. Custom Content Appears Funky

When I go to place one of my custom content in SC4, the 5x and 6x zooms make the model appear like a funky glob of grey, with some spots in it. Like this: Is there anything I can do to fix this?
  8. I have seen people do custom in-game thumbnails like these for their BATs... Every time I make a BAT, It looks like this... It must be some sort of modding I suppose, but I have never found a way to do it. Is there any way to make nice custom thumbnaiils like the image above? Any help will be appreciated...
  9. Version

This is my first Bat Building to be uploaded, (definitly not the last). First off, i know that this lot is not perfect, i know that this lot has some modding errors, but there is nothing in this lot that will damage anything in sc4. This zip contains 90 files. -30 .sc4model -30 .sc4desc -30 .sc4lot It contains all 26 letters of the english alphabet along w/ !?., Now a big city sign like this does't come w/out a price. It is 100 to plop and 10 per month, so make sure your city can handle it. Post all problems here. EDIT: You are free to use these w/ your own uploads, but you cannot put these files in your upload, you must direct them to this upload. MAJOR UPDATE: Thanx to Dev, i have found a new program to edit lots with, and it is alot easiar than what i was using. I uploaded a new version of the file. (everything is the same name so you can just overwrite it). New Plop = 100 and monthly = 10 NEW UPDATE!! I put all the files into one dat so its easiar to keep organized. Pleez download it and delete all other versions of it. Thank you orishavit for telling me about File2Dat
