  2. I'm trying to create a large animated screen for my Drive-In theater. I used the "Video Screen" base for my screen prop, because I wanted the images to change like a slide-show rather than scroll through. It works when I'm creating the asset (left) but once I pull it into a building asset as a prop, and also in game the screen is blank. Am I supposed to be doing some code changing to get the prop asset for it to work correctly?
  3. Hello there... I'm new to the world of Cities: Skylines. My brother told me about it on Christmas... I bought it the next day and now I'm making "stuff"! I'm going back to school for Mechanical Design (after 15 years as a footwear designer, drawing everything "by hand"), learning Solidworks, Creo and AutoCAD in school, and teaching myself 3D Max and Blender. This is a great outlet to practice everything with a purpose, rather than randomly building things. I'm really into 1950s & 60s kitschy Mid-Century Americana. So thats pretty much the style all my assets will be... bright colors and funky shapes... the cheesier the better! I'm going to use this post to share my creations. I'm still figuring out some of the back end info for creating assets... but eventually I'll start posting to the Steam Workshop. First up... a couple props! I love big, obnoxious signs! Expect a lot of those... Lol!
  4. Hi. I just downloaded SC4 Deluxe from Amazon onto an Asus Windows 10 computer. When I go to the regions folder, open paint and do all the steps, it shows the config file in the folder like normal, but when i open the game, it doesnt show up. Any ideas? Thank you.

    And in today's adventures I have (after much trial and error) learned how to make a custom prop. First I took screenshots of a Maxis god mode tree in SC4 and then made the images that SC3K likes: Here I've placed it on a lot in the BAP: And here it is in the game: In case anyone would like to test this I'll attach it here.   6. Custom regions on Steam SC4?

    Hi all, I've been trying to build a custom region for a few days now but nothing seems to run properly. Specifically, I want to have lots of 4x4km maps and have seen a lot of tutorials on how to accomplish this. So far, I've been doing the following: 1. Creating a new region in SimCity to harvest documents from (ie: "Template Region"), then quitting the game 2. Going into SimCity 4 in my "Documents" folder, then into the Regions sub-folder, and creating a new folder (ie: "Test Region") 3. Copy-pasting a region.ini from Template Region's folder into the new Test Region's folder, turning region.ini into a .txt, setting the value to "1" for ocean and entering "Test Region" as the name, then re-saving it as region.ini 4. Copy-pasting the BMP from the Template Region's folder, editing all the colours in a graphics editor (Paintbrush for Mac) as follows: 255, 0, 0, for red, blue, and green respectively, blue = 4x4, green = 2x2, red = 1x1. 5. Starting up SimCity 4 Then it crashes. Can anyone think of what I'm doing wrong?? I have to delete the Test Region before I can get the program to run again, though I oddly got one test region working, albeit it was missing all the green (2x2) maps! Help greatly, greatly appreciated!
  7. So, with the addition of blimps to the new expansion, I made a real scale Graf Zeppelin. It's my first time with a vehicle and weird stuff is happening. First, vanilla motors seem to be in the model and I don't know how to remove them (also the lateral screens, but they are hide inside the model, so is not a problem). Second, my motors don't spin as they should, only two of the four rotate, and they do it in the direction of wheels... Any idea on how to solve this?

  10. When a custom asset burns down, the game does "rescue operations" forever. There is never a simple option to "Rebuild," as there is with special regular assets. When you have gone to extra lengths to position assets perfectly, this can be quite annoying, as the only solution is to demo and re-place. Any solution for this? Where is the bug? Is it in the RICO mod or elsewhere?

  12. Hello, is it able to have only 1 tree to be added on Seed Forest. Using the God Mode tree planting with just 1 type of tree. Cause I've been using mayor mode to plant as a forest for my cities. Btw I want this tree.
  13. Hello all, So once again I'm delving into the world of custom content, specifically custom lots and textures. I noticed though, for the project I have in mind that I will need to make some custom overlay textures, and I'm a little uncertain as to the process to do so. Therefore, I have summarised my main queries into the questions below, and I do hope someone, somewhere will be able to answer them. So starting at the beginning in Photoshop (Or equivalent), I assume I leave the areas I don't need for the overlay to be transparent, and saved as a BMP? For diagonal textures, (Sidewalks, road - things that need to line up) what would be the best way to keep all the parts lining up? Then I put the BMPs into GOFsh? Save into FSH and then DAT files? I've heard something about texture ranges. What are they, how would I use them? Please fell free to mention any information you think I'd need to know, and that I haven't mentioned. By the way, I'm creating sidewalk width overlay textures for a custom road/street set. Hope someone can help. Thanks

  16. hello everyone! i have just started using simcitypack and i want to make mod that will change decals on office buldings to japanese one. so i generated logo with mitsubishi, replace wealthy office logo and add my one. my problem is in game because my custom decal isn't show. i don't know what i'm doing wrong. please help

  18. Okay, so I've been following development on a mod for SC4 (the SimMars mod) and have decided to make a custom intro for it. The biggest problem is that I have no experience in modding SC4 and I would have no idea how to start this modding process with the (complete lack of) technical skills I have. So, I am reaching out to the community to see your opinions on this. Is it doable? Do any of you people know how I may go around this. By the way, I don't mean to just change it in my game, if possible it is meant to change the intro to this whenver the game is started, so people can download this and see the new intro video. Thank you for reading this, and thank you for any help given.
  19. Is it possible to have certain plugins for specific cities? For instance, if you have a rural city it would load only plugins specifically related to country-rural style themes. I was thinking maybe the game allows for having sub-plugin folders that each city would reference, but don't actually know if this is possible.

  22. Hi I've been trying to import a model from blender into Cities:Skylines using my model in an fbx format. However, when I open my building in the asset editor, I ran into several problems. These were: 1. I had this error pop-up: GetColors(): format not supported [System.NotImplementedException] Details: No details System.NotImplementedException: GetColors(): format not supported at (wrapper managed-to-native) ColossalFramework.Importers.Image:GetColors (int,int) at ColossalFramework.Importers.Image.GetColors () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AssetImporterTextureLoader.BuildTexture (ColossalFramework.Importers.Image[] sources, ResultType type, Int32 width, Int32 height, Boolean nullAllowed) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AssetImporterTextureLoader+<LoadTextures>c__AnonStoreyBF.<>m__30 () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 2. After dismissing the error, the preview window only shows the bottom of my building, with no textures 3. After trying to continue anyways, the same bottom part of my building loads into the asset editor humongously large, still with no texture. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I can't find any similar problems anywhere. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks in advance. PS: I'm very new to modding so I might just be doing some silly mistake, pls don't judge EDIT: I changed the texture from PNG to JPG and it "sort of" loads in. All other problems still remain unsolved.
  23. Hello, I have the digital copy of SC4 Deluxe from Steam and I added music from Sim City 3000 Unlimited. I put it in Sim City 4 Deluxe/Radio/Mayor, but when I start SC4, and went to audio settings, I checked the box for adding custom music in SC4. The SC3000 music files are not shown in SC4. I put it the right folders, but I just can't seem to have the files shown in SC4. Is there a way to play custom music in SC4? I tried to put it in the right folders, but it's just that SC4 didn't see them for some reason. Can you guys help me with it? Thanks. citybuilder234
  24. I have a problem when I try to import grayscale .bmp images to the Shift+Control+Alt+R box, I always find the file correctly, but when I click OK, the box disappears and nothing happens.   25. I wonder if it is possible to create a assets Prob you will see later within the asset editor to use / put together 2 custom probs. I ask this because of the limition on the textures. I have 2 buildings and want to put them together as 1 but wont make 1 texture .. so 2 .fbx togehter somehow? i tryed few creations but never showed up lets say as common prob.
