    The Curvy Road to Gamescom

You hear that? That’s the sweet sound of spline reticulation at work. We’re going overtime gearing up to present the new SimCity next week in Cologne, Germany for the massively popular Gamescom event, aka, the biggest consumer and media gaming show in the world.

    User Feedback

Unless they've completely redesigned the game and given us a fully functional offline sandbox I remain a non-purchaser of this game.

I need to either make a very large sized city or many cities directly against each other. Metropoli are one the main reasons I play... So until then I'm with cirugo.

if someone from Simtropolis is going, how about trying to hit them up with some of the hard hitting questions, and find out if they are reading the negative feedback on here??

I recommend reading their Twitter account... People ask some interesting questions there, and little by little, they tell more information about the game.

e.g. @lethrington You can set up a private region with your friends. Or you can play an entire region by yourself! The choice is yours, really.

@spincrus Don't worry -- you can still create dense-looking cities with tons of buildings. Look for new content next week at Gamescom.

This one was just asked recently, about 17 hours ago.

Sorry, Twitter is for the birds. Only hands on with what I want would sell me. There has been far too much BS and little substance.

    Indeed...but that's a whole other topic.

I'll try and make a report on what i've seen

IF I dont see anything else that we have encountered in the interviews however, I wont even bother.

Twitter is a great source of information so I don't know what your talking about by saying it's for birds??. You just have too know how twitter and "tweets in genreal work for you to fully enjoy the experince!!. Not just put it down in 10 seconds saying you don't understand. Personally I don't mind the idea of a social simicty so to speak. I think it will bring a whole new prevalence to the game IMO. We will have to wait and see what the future brings!!.

I think I will buy the new game only if:

    (a) it features as much as SC4 after years of custom-made upgrades (lots of thanks to Simtropolis, SC4Devotion, etc) and just has more updated graphic style;

    (b) it's not online - I won't come close to any online game, I play SimCity just for me, period; sharing results with the community is one good thing, yet having no choice but play it together with others all the time - no, thank you.

(anyways, I'll first wait until they correct all the bugs any new game has, even if it will take a year or two, and them I'll think of it - I'm in no hurry and I already have SC4 for pleasure)

Do write something after you visit it, please, in any case.

Who told you there is no choice? Even if it's focused at being played with other people, this SimCity can still be played in solo mode.

I meant in online mode. Call me sparanoid or else, online games as large as that don't seem entirely solo to me...
