...It's time to make Sim City 5, Maxis.

As observed by a gamer on reddit: "A conservative estimate would require about 4-8GB of disk space, the video card to have about 1-2GB of RAM, and the video card to be about 10-20 times as fast as a current GeForce 4 card." I guess it's time to make Sim City 5, Maxis.

    No more excuses.

I hope Maxis (pre "post-sim city 4" Maxis) can see the fevor out there for a new sim city.

I recently got back into Sim City 4. It's about time!

so this is it. today's technology can now demand what original simcity needed. i just wondering, is simcity 5 already planned before we demand it? because there is still a support and even a website for simcity 4 and they never kill it. and also im wondering why? they separate the SC societies and its successor sites, or even content and just make another new city game genre. is it because simcity 5 would really coming? i excited to see it. i hope my rig can handle what the game was demanding.

I hope that Maxis will do a new SC4. It would give their fans what they wanna see. And I think a big petition would help. I hope Maxis will think about it and I also hope that we will ever get a new SC4, now or later.

They are still making money off of SC4... they need to open their eyes and see how much they could make with SC5. Or, cheap out and do SC 4.5 and do some bug fixes, graphic upgrades and HD compatibility.

It would be nice to have a SimCity 5, although it's never going to be compatible with my old G5... >.< Maybe it's time to refit my PC!

However, as Schulmanator and several others suggested, a SimCity 4 (Expansion Pack?) would be great, as it would retain compatibility with our many thousands of lots and modds, and I'm sure a lot of you would be very keen on one. Hopefully, Maxis could even work with the NAM Team in order to fully integrate it into SimCity (goodbye, puzzle pieces and hover bug!), although that would be a big ask...

Come on Maxis, pull your finger(s) out! :read:

We have all the required items to run a 3D Sim City currently. The future is here Maxis. Now that you have the proper technology to run a new Sim City title efficiently there is no more excuses!

"People frequently ask, "When are you going to make it so the player can walk around the city?" or "When are you going to make it first-person?" or from the more technically savvy, "When are you going to have a free camera?" The answer to this question should be clear from the discussion above: we will be able do it when PCs become powerful enough for us to do it to our standards of quality. When that day comes, the decision to implement such a feature and how to implement it will be based on the feature's relevance to gameplay"

I don't want an expansion, I want a whole new engine! Make a 64bit version, get rid of 2gb cap, true multicore support, etc...

Honestly, i would just like a bug free and supported version, maybe improve graphics and the such, make it fully compatible with modern PC's and operating systems and then you have what Sim City 4 was supposed to be before it was rushed into release; but better!

Yes, but those comments were made before post-2004 Maxis, in which soon after SimCity 4 Rush Hour, Maxis was moved into EA. Give it up, though I'll eat my own hat if they do release a real SimCity 5.

Actually, if they cared about SimCity 4, then during the "five-six year SimCity change" (about 4-5 from SimCity to 2000, about 5-6 until 3000, and 4 until 4), then we would've seen something around 2007-2008, to "tide us over" until the next. Instead, we got Societies. >.<

    Well, now, let's see.

EA being what it is, I would expect that if they were to do this, all the current custom content would be in the bit bucket. If modding were possible with the new edition, we get to start over for the new game. Not a bad thing, probably. Will Wright said they had backed themselves into a corner with SC4, but there are still smarts in -house at EA to make this happen. Let's hope that if they do it, they don't outsource it. That idea has been proven to be a bust.

EA needs to be convinced that they will make a lot of money, because this is going to be expensive. Simplest thing would be to recompile it, fix up the graphics tables and the known bugs and rerelease it as SimCity 4.5 Deluxe. This means that existing mods would continue to work, although some may be obsolted by the recompile and fix. I doubt that they would take on such a project as SimCity 5, when it would be so simple to just update it.

E3 is imminent. If they had anything to show, it must be nearly into beta-test now!
