Comment Replies:

Towerdude: thanks for the comment, it's not so nice.

kolnikov inc: I found and downloaded the mods you suggested me, thank you.

elnorte: thank you, but as I said, that's not so nice. I wish it was better.

Going beyond Hampton Bridge you can reach East Prattsville. It's the newest part of Prattsville and it's still growing. The small industrial park of Prattsville it's on this side of the river, and East Prattsville it's also the site of the Pitt County Power Plant, of the County Jail and of the County Dump. This district isn't wealthy as the one on the west side: it's inhabitated mostly by people who comes from the medium classes and it's pratically a dormitory town for the near city of Newton, where most of the people go to work.

If you don't want to drive over the Hampton Bridge, you can always take the train. Therailway has been important for the economy of East Prattsville. Especially the freight station (the one on the right) is still heavily used by the farmers of the zone around East Prattsville. During the 1950s the railway has also been used for the transport of the County Jail inmates.

Going east, you'll see the Pitt County Power Plant. Built during the 1960s, its costruction required five years. It is an important resource for the town, as the near neighbourhoods have been built for the workers of the power plant. It has owned by the County for almost twenty years, until 1987 when the power plant was sold to a private company, the Pitt Power Company (which, actually, owns only this plant). Due to the low requests of power from Prattsville, most of the power produced here is sold to the near city of Newton.

The city keeps growing, as you can see from this aerial shot. This neighbourhood, called River Beach, it's the very newest part of East Prattsville. The north zone has been established only in 2008 and even if a large part of the houses is already built, some costruction aren't complete yet.

River Beach at dawn. The south part of the neighbourhood has been a dangerous place for several years during the 80s, when this hood was almost abandoned by the law enforcement and the crime rates were high. Only during the early 90s, with the election of a new sheriff, it has been rehabilitated after several raids of the Pitt County Sheriff Dept. Now River Beach is a quiet and safe place, inhabitated by young families with childrens.

Anyway, if you prefer to see what is gonna happen to you if you want to break the law, visit the Pitt County Jail. It was built in 1923, but it isn't the original one anymore: it has been restored many times, even in 2008. It has accomodated various criminals, famous or not. Al Capone slept here for three days in 1926, and from 2007 it's the home of Barney Malford, the robber who terrorized the county during 2006 robbing 27 small stores in 13 days.

From East Pittsville it's all. See you next time.

West Prattsville

Aerial shot of West Prattsville

Welcome to West Prattsville. This is the oldest part of the town: as you can see, the city developed around Main Street, which in fact is also the principal route to the capital. As soon as you enter in the city from west (we're facing north now), on the left side of Main Street you meet the Fire Engine N°1 and the West Prattsville Public Library.

In the second block you'll find the City Hall which also serves as the main police station for the Sheriff's Department and finally, in the third block there is the Saint Martin Hospital, the only hospital of the Pitt County.

Pursuing Main Street, shortly before the Hampton Bridge you can see the Old Public School. It's the only building of the original Prattsville, and it has been rebuilt in the new one after the great fire of 1912.

A closer shot of West Main Street

A closer shot of West Main Street. From left to right: the Fire Engine, the Public Library, the City Hall and Saint Martin Hospital. Behind the City Hall, you can see the train station. The railway has been an important thing for the economy of Prattsville, but now it isn't used as before. On the right side of Main Street there are several shops but, even if this is the most important commercial zone of West Prattsville, other shops are located through the city.

The Old Public School. It's the only building which wasn't destroyed by the fire of 1912. When the townspeople decided to left the old Prattsville, they "dismantled" the school and brought it to the new town, putting it near the river on Main Street. It has been used until the 1960's, when the new school was built in the then-new residential area of Prattsville, in the south.

The north area of West Prattsville, also called Big Pines Terrace because of the closeness to the pine woods. This has been a wealthy residential area, studded with luxury mansions and powerful cars. But, during the last two years, many of the people who had a house here (especially rich managers from the capital) have been overwhelmed by the financial crisis and a lot of houses have been sold or simply abandoned.

Four wind turbines outside West Prattsville. On this side of the river, the town is supplied with the electricity which comes from the wind turbines, but on the east side there is a powerful gas power plant. The Pitt County also sells the excess electricity.

That's all for now. Next time we'll see how thing are going on the other side of the West River. See you soon.

Prattsville was founded in 1826 by some deserters of the U.S. Army. Until 1850, it was only a couple of huts with a little store, but when a bunch of travelling farmers who were coming from Purgatory Creek bumped into the city and decided to settle there, the little camp become a bigger town. The city grew quickly, due to the fact that it was on a major route, used by the traders of the area. The fertile fields on the West bank of the West River were the right places for the farmers who have founded Prattsville and in a short time the economy of the area grew quickly aswell as the population.

During the last 50's-early '60s, Pratsville became a major settlement in the region, and many famous people from the State capital went there to spend their holidays. But Prattsville became very important during the American Civil War between 1861-1865. When the war broke out, Prattsville sided with the Union Army and it was used as a point of reference by the Army. George Sherman himself visited the city several times until late 1862, when the city was captured by the Confederacy and became a trouble spot. The Confederation set up a headquarter in Prattsville, but in the summer of 1863 Sherman came back with his troops and defeated the Confederates, freeing the city. Sherman went to Prattsville even after the war and he also bought a house there.

In 1912, the city was almost destroyed by a fire which started in the town hall. Many historical buildings burnt down and the people of Prattsville left the old town and built a new one, closer to the West River. Two years later it was established as a city and it also became the county seat

of the Pitt County. During the XX century, Prattsville faced ups and downs in terms of population, reaching the 5.000 people at these days.

Although its farms are still important in the economy of the county, Pittsville has also a small industrial area, composed primarly of local heavy industries. The tourism is also important, and it probably will become the main income of the entire county. As of now, it's impossible to foretell the future of Prattsville. Will it

become a major settlement of the county, or it will be left by the few people who still live there?
