Hallandale is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The city is named after Luther Halland, a worker for Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railroad. As of 1 July 2006, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau is 37,145. It is part of the South Florida metropolitan area, which is home to 5,463,857 people.

The city is best known as the home of Mardi Gras Gaming greyhound racing track, which hosts the World Classic. It also has a sizable financial district, with offices for a number of banks and brokerage houses. Sometimes referred to in jest as the "southernmost Canadian city," Hallandale Beach has been a popular vacation destination for decades, and many of the tourists come from Quebec and the Northeastern United States; a significant number of these tourists eventually retire to the area.

In 1986 the city leaders began debating on where to build this huge stadium which would be alot bigger than the Dolphin stadium in midtown. The location was finally chosen on May 23rd, 1989. Located right along the extension of the everglades freeway and I-95, so it would have alot of visibility from the freeways. The stadium began construction on June 6th, 1989 and was completed on September 23rd, 1991. The Seahawk Stadium Center was finally complete, and ready for concerts and events. Some famous stars who have performed at the astadium include: Britney Spears, Lady gaga, Rascal Flatts, Kieth urban, Metro Station, Timbaland, John Mayor, Boys Like Girls.

I-95 runs diagonal across the screen and the everglades freeway runs stragiht through. Originally the everglades freeway just ended at I-95 but then in 1992 the city decided to extend the freeway to Atlantic Blvd. to help ease the heavy traffic during peak concert seasons. Hallandale high School can be seen in the bottom left hand screen.

Seahawk Stadium Center

Atlantic Blvd. Once the Everglades Freeway extension to the Blvd was finished the Blvd was quickly filled with hotels offices and exspensive apartment buildings and condos. Miami's only K-Mart is also located in hallandale.

Aberdeen Knoll. One of the many new subdivisions that are going up all over the Miami area. Ceo's and lawyers and doctors fromt he downtown Miami area are beginning to build there getaway homes in the new developing area's of the suburbs. Located just left of the subdivision is the newest expansion of the Miami medical center. Hallandale Medical Center is a branch of the cities main health system.

It looks so unatural... Why is there so much infrastructure when there are only a few towers and some houses?

Yes, like all of SE Florida, it is all built up... There are no vast open area's, but it is all built up with houses and business. Try to stick to costal skyscrapers, and homes inland. Try to also use canals, to drain the everglades. It would make it look really floridian. Lastly your high wealth area, floridian homes, high wealth are all on little inlets, and most are next to each other.

Well done,
