Update: St.Peters International & Regional Airport II
Hey there, back here to preview an update on my much improved airport which is the St.Peters International & Regional Airport 2.The planning of this renovation and expansion began in Q4 of 2005 when the goverment decided that the existing old terminal (St.Peters Airport) could not handle future passenger demand.United Island Of Territories Prime Minister Klaus Johanssen plans to do major upgrades and extension to this airport.
The decision was seen as impossible due to the excessive costs of upgrading the airport and by far the worst thing, shutting down the airport because most citizens take this airport as the main hub for commuting to another country. Finally, the airport was closed and flights were transfered to the nearest Svensda Municipal Airport. After the upgrades, the terminal was finally reopened in Q3 of 2008.
The new airport is 3 times bigger than its predecessor if count by the terminal size and the amount of airline gates. With the workforce of 25,000 workers, the airport was upgraded within 4 years and now its considered our best airport yet.By comparing its statistics with the old airport, the new airport double's the current usage and aircraft movements compared to the old one.
Statistics of St.Peters Airport II:
Passenger Movements: 26,832,971
Airfreight Movements: 981,233
Aircraft Movements: 231,854
