Welcome back to Macoe! We are in Macoe today because of recent joint announcement between The Region of Windemere, The Town of Macoe and Windemere Development Corporation. The Town and Region announced that a new rail line will wind into Macoe, intersecting south of the current station. They also announced the upgrading and expansion of the rail station to service the increase in traffic from when the station that has opened, and the expected increase in traffic due to the new rail line.

The town of Macoe and Windemere Decelopment Corporation announced a development project called "URBAN MACOE." The project will have 4-6 high-rise commercial towers, some medium-denisty development and other general development. We will have a look at both projects in today's update, so let's go see!

Here is where the new rail line will intersect the current line. The line will be sunken like the current one.

We can now see that progress has been made; the area has been dug down and new rails sections have started to be laid.

The rail project has now been completed, including retaining walls.

Here is the rail station where construction has now started. One of the parking lot sections has been torn up for the construction of parking garages which will go over the area...

This is another part of the train-station expansion... an announcement has not been made on this part of the project.

Here is an overall view of the project, including "URBAN MACOE." The main street layout has been completed with gravel roads, construction on buildings will begin soon...

The first parking garage has opened as construction continues on the train station.

Cranes, cranes and more... cranes! Construction is beginning on "URBAN MACOE." A lot of construction vehichles, noise and dust surrounds the area.

Construction on overflow parking lots has begun. The road also narrows down to 2 lanes as construction begins on elevating the avenue over the rail line.

Another 2 weeks has passed and a new parking garage pops up...

A historic moment in Macoe has arrived! The first section of the "URBAN MACOE" project opens, featuring shops and offices.

The first section of the overpass has been built; but it is not yet close to being finished. The delays due to traffic ties up are getting "unnacceptable" according to many residents. Patience is wearing thin, but there is still alot of work to go...

Construction is moving along very quickly on the train station, the roads have been realigned closer to how they will be when the project has been completed. Another parking garage has been completed.

Picture Number 14, the final picture! This is an overall view of the project thus far...

And we have come to the end of today's update of the transformation of Macoe!

We will be looking at the progress of the train station reconstruction, the continuation of the "URBAN MACOE" project, and some more projects that will spring up along the way.

As always, I hope you've enjoyed the update!
