That looks like a lot of modeling work.

I checked out some pics of the irl station.

I think it could be a little darker and less vibrant, and maybe accentuate all the little details, because I can see they are there just not very visible so it makes it looks flatter.

And the roof has more rust or whatever that brown thing is on the copper roof, it's not that clean green.

Also the entrance corner looks a bit weird and broken where it connects to the ground but I assume that's wip.

I should say that everything but the heritage looking part have no normal maps as of that picture haha so hopefully they're the only flat looking parts (yellow and red brick buildings do have all their maps)

and I'm still playing around with the ground connection bits

With the roof -  it uses one texture coordinate for all 8 sides of the dome, if i add a browning affect it could look a bit too repetitive? do you think i still should? - I was trying to save on space in the diffuse by only mapping one face and repeating them.

In terms of darkness - it could go darker (and I agree) but i'm thinking that it does get that bright in direct sunlight but most of the time melbourne is overcast like the european map theme (which it looks much better in) - what do you think? make it darker and risk it being too dark in other themes?

Also just a a general query: the road that's on the short end (the tram road in the pictures) should i embed that in the model (because it's actually 2m higher than the terrain) or let the player figure it out - first means i would set it to be a tram road and the asset would need snowfall to work, the second option would mean a bit of confusion for subscribers but more choice in terms of road placement... I'm torn

I like big stations and I cannot lie.

Can we use it like a through-station like the real thing, or is this a stub-ended terminal?

it's through :) the tracks turn into tunnels at the swanston bridge end so you can continue the tracks and bring them back up to surface whenever

what do you mean? It's got all the facade of flinder's street station - there's no more to add??

I always think that is an unfinished station without a canopy due to budget constraint.

Moreover, the owner of the station can take advantage of the air rights attached to the station.

hahahah I'm just recreating what's current - i was debating doing the original design but it makes more sense for people to have what's there at the moment if they want to try and recreate melbs a bit.

Looks awesome! I'm amazed that to date no one has attempted to create any of the iconic London stations- St Pancras would be amazing

i think it's the effort that goes into it haha - a little daunting - flinders was hard enough

  • Hey guys, just a quick screenshot of the trains I'm working on now, this is my first vehicle asset and by god they are a hell of a lot more difficult to do - what a learning curve. Still I think they'll turn out ok :) they'll be released in 3 car set and 2x 3 car set (6 car set). These are the B Class trains in Perth, WA. Still working on getting the UV mapping ok and making the textures.

    Here's a reference picture:

City Link Transport Hub, by Mattb325.
        ---------------------------------------
This is a purely fictional 1980's style building designed as a transport interchange suitable for downtown and other built-up areas.
The podium floors of this building act as a rail, subway, bus, underground park & ride and pedestrian interchange. It also allows freight trains to pass through the station.
The two towers are also functional and provide 1,600 jobs across all wealth levels.
In game, this building is found in the Miscellaneous Transport Menu (about half-way down near the subway line).
Once placed, drag two rail lines right through the building and connect the front and back of the lot to the road network using street tiles.
To activate the subway component of this building, simply drag the subway line anywhere into the lot (note: as this is a multifuctional lot that there is no traditional 'stub' that you have to connect to as seen in other subway buildings) and of course then connect it to other subway stations within your city.
Similarly if you wish to activate the bus component of the building, simply place a bus stop somewhere else on your city tile.
If you don't wish to use any of the subway, rail or bus features, that's fine, simply don't connect that particular feauture to the lot (you may end up with the advisors nagging about 'mass transit 101' but you can safely ignore their wailing).
At a minimum however, the building must be connected to the road, water and power networks or it will abandon. (N.B. I have put the 'bleeding obvious' in here as some twit recently told me that batters now have to provide "customer service" even when they are no longer active......as if providing all of this for free or your enjoyment isn't enough...lowest common denominator, here we come...yeah, baby  )
This is the first in a series of multi-function transport lots that I will be releasing shortly. As this one doesn't involve NAM elevated networks and is more of a visual alternative to the ever-popular ninja boulevard kiosk, I have decided to release it separately from the upcoming pack.
Lastly, a ****huge***** thankyou to RSC204/MGB204 who provided the modding for this file: you can be certain that the stats and values behave according to NAM methodologies.
        ---------------------------------------
        STATS:
        Lot size :                6 x 5
        Plop Cost:              §5,900
        Monthly Cost:        §330
        Budget Item:          Mass Transit

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:
This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos or Mashty's night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite.
You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot File!
If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod.
Either: (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) *recommended* OR (http://gizmo.aplaceforwebsite.com/index.php) OR Mashty Nite Mod: (http://hide-inoki.com/bbs/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=764)

        ---------------------------------------

        NOTE ABOUT PARKING TEXTURES:
The parking textures you see in some of the images are adjacent to the lot and are used as fillers. The main parking provided by this lot is the large underground area as well as a little bit at the back.

        DEPENDENCIES:
To ensure proper functionality, make sure the following files are in your plugins:
        *BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01.dat (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1180)
        *BSC Textures Vol01 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=90)
NB: External sites may require you to create an account (or log in with said account) prior to downloading. See, this is more customer service so you don't have to think
        OPTIONAL DEPENDENCIES:
        *Network Addon Mod V36 (https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26793-network-addon-mod-NAM-for-windows-installer/).
I have tested this in Vanilla mode without the NAM, and it basically works as intended. But honestly, if you intend to use this without the NAM, everyone will judge you harshly
*SC4Fix: third-party patches (https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30883-sc4fix-third-party-patches-for-sc4/). If you use the NAM or even play the game, you will want this file. Enough said :-)

        ---------------------------------------
To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder.
        Thanks.

A station where trains can cross above and below one another. Would be awesome if it was modular so you could do something like add (number) of TRAIN tracks and (number) of MOM tracks on the ground and then add (number) of TRAIN tracks and (number) of MOM tracks crossing elevated above-ground. Ped connections should exist inside the station from street module to all other modules. An elevated "buffer" track with no stop would be a nice component as well.
Anybody interested in something like this? You could even go full ham and add a 3rd layer of underground stations but for me personally that would be above and beyond. It's the ground stations + crossing elevated stations that I really need for many situations.
I've never made a station, so I hope this project could be spearheaded by someone with station-making experience. I'd be willing to collaborate/help with modelling if someone would take the reigns! What do you guys think?

Hey guys! so with the hint of a road modding tool in the next DLC arriving, and presuming it's something like Network Extensions let's discuss what roads would be cool to add!

I've looked at the source code of Network Extensions and I've looked at their textures etc so I want to make a start at creating textures for roads. for that i need suggestions!
        Rules:
Use https://streetmix.net/new to visualise your road. I won't even consider ones that are just some random description For roads you want to zone on: use either 16m wide roads or 32m wide roads as those are the two widths that work with zoning. For highways you can use any width lanes for cars, trams, buses etc should be 3m in width. parking should be 2m wide sidewalks should be at least 2m wide (maybe 1.5m at the smallest) and this is for either side of the road, so at least 4m of sidewalk altogether! try and keep in mind that it's not about creating new types of prefabs like MOM, it's for reskinning like we do with Network Skins! Here's some examples of Vanilla Roads visualised in StreetMix
        a 16m Wide Basic Road:

And a 32m Wide Medium Road

You can click on the above links to be taken to a template in streetmix.
        Give me inspiration!

        Hi,
i created a custom medium road with two tram lanes in its middle (center of tram lanes at +1,5 / -1,5 meters from the median). To make the rail transition with the vanilla medium road w/ tram, shall i create the rail transition (curve) by myself or it is calculated by CS?
For illustration pls check the below schreenshot (it is wip, still a lot of adjusment needed, i know)
        Thanks in advance,

        Hello there...
I'm new to the world of Cities: Skylines. My brother told me about it on Christmas... I bought it the next day and now I'm making "stuff"! I'm going back to school for Mechanical Design (after 15 years as a footwear designer, drawing everything "by hand"), learning Solidworks, Creo and AutoCAD in school, and teaching myself 3D Max and Blender. This is a great outlet to practice everything with a purpose, rather than randomly building things.

I'm really into 1950s & 60s kitschy Mid-Century Americana. So thats pretty much the style all my assets will be... bright colors and funky shapes... the cheesier the better! I'm going to use this post to share my creations. I'm still figuring out some of the back end info for creating assets... but eventually I'll start posting to the Steam Workshop.

First up... a couple props! I love big, obnoxious signs! Expect a lot of those... Lol!
