Hello. This is my first Question. I have many addons on Sc4 rush hour, and I know how to create configuration.bmp for a long time. To create properly a map of region from an image file, it seems that Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R open a dialog box in order to load a greyscale bitmap, no special version or addon required. With this combination of keys, nothing appears. Does someone else have this problem? On other topics, deficient  dialog box bug all the game.

Thanks for an accurate answer.

There are several rules that will cause this to happen.

The most usual one is that the gray-scale map is not a true B&W, but an RGB format.  Open the file in an editor and force it to the black and white format.  An ordinary editor defaults to a colour profile.  In the GIMP this feature is found in the Image menu as simply grayscale.

The gray-scale map must be one pixel larger in both dimensions than that indicated by the config.bmp.  That is, if you have a 16 x 16 bmp the gray-scale must be 1025 x 1025

Nonny Moose, thanks for your answer. Before to try a greyscale map, i have verified if the command ctrlalt$%&^!R should open a dialog box in the Region level, but IT DOESN'T. On my configuration, it seems that this command is missing : ctrl-alt-shift-R ... and Nothing Happen. Sorry for the Bold character, I'm French!

Well, my French isn't good enough to give you a reply, but I suggest that the easiest way for you to get your map straightened out is to use the Landscape Designer.

Just read the gray-scale into the program (may have to adjust it using the built-in tools) and it will show your region in a false colour presentation.  You can then use it to generate a new config.bmp of you so desire.

This powerful little program has been around a long time and certainly makes life easier.

If I understand you correctly, and you can't import the map using the ingame controls, you can try to use a program such as SC4Mapper instead, which can create the region for you. You can find the latest version of Mapper over on SC4D here.

The tools provided within the program will allow you to import your greyscale image and it will create the region for you.

At this time, unfortunately SC4Devotion is still down.

Quite correct, but the LEX isn't.

I must really thank a Nonny Moose, this Landscape Designer is operational. Whenever no one can explain the bug of the ingame control. Before, I tried to Use SC4Terraformer instead, but It seems that the file of Woannagaine is corrupt. SC4 devotion begin to have a strange, long time of maintenance! Is it?

You should really thank greyveil.  This is a C program and as such doesn't need much by way of libraries except the attachment to the data base driver.  The Wounagaine stuff is written in Python and needs the Python run-time as a minimum.

Python is all very well, but it is just an HLL version of C.  I'd rather have the semi-colons and complete context freedom rather than be bound by tab positions and end of line symbols.  I guess it is all what you are used to.  I was using C on UNIX long before Python was thought of.  Some HLLs don't offer much advantages to real programmers. [Oh, and the reason we don't eat quiche, is that you can't get quiche out of a vending machine at 0300.]

As I told to everyone, this problem probably comes from mods : I've reinstall the original sc4 on another computer, and Crtl-Alt-Shift-R load a dialogue box. I can then import to my usual machine.

To conclude this topic, (can I?), I zoom on different mods and updates : BE CAREFUL, some functionality can be disabled!

Thanks to everyone to let me try different external tools, and extend my knowledges!
