Congratulations on another week on top of Ben's Top Ten.

And I forgot to give you extra kudos a few weeks ago when your streak at number one reached 15 weeks - that is a record for all versions of BTT.

What are you using for the rail grass? I see the rail next to many other lots, but no apparent base texture? I really need to start hitting you up for tips!

I'm interested in this as well.

Also, them barges :D love it.

packersfan: To answer your question I was using fantozzi's Real Frightyard- also I always choose non-textured RRW and the dark green textures simply come from the Sudden Valley terrain mod. I'm hoping that NAM 33 comes out with that olive green industrial base texture for RRW because then the textures would synch up far better will all the fillers I use next to railways.

takemethere: Thanks for that- I always try to give a different to each city tile I develop. As for that canal there will be another teaser entry next week. Now for other SC4 sites I recommend the PLEX, Bripizza, WorkingMan Productions and Simcity Polska. Then of course there is a plethora of Japanese websites for SC4 content, but it's very hit and miss- http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=361.0. For other little, but cool, items look at PAENG PRODUCTIONS thread on Simpeg4, go through the topic pages and you may just find some interesting files...

City_Master: Thanks, I usually avoid the RHW because it so time-consuming, but sometimes one needs a mighty interchange.

    Benedict: Cool.

iviaarten: Those barges are good. Also see my response to packersfan's question.

Great update again Ln X. Really does have that small town big city feel :P

And I second Sirrus, you have a link to the first modern bldg that he circled?

    > second circle looks like a COBB bldg.

    > third circle is a Brooklyn row house set. (Can't add links cause I'm posting on an iPad :P)

The first one (left circle) looks like one of kellydale2003's creations. The second one (middle circle) is a SimGoober creation, if I'm not mistaken. Hey, have we just invented a new forum game? :P

Your work is absolutley amazing.  By far and away the best I have ever seen.  I'd love to know what you use for medians and sidewalks.  They both seem to match so well.  It's like you're playing a different game!

What do you know a transformer that I don't have/use lol. If I remember correctly its part of that power line set though, sign* if only those towers were draggable. Cool power plant btw, I could always use another one for the region oh and thank you very much for the links!

  • Looks great! But coal is polluting.... here's what we do to be eco-friendly:

The much fabled perpetual motion machine. Sadly it doesn't work because cats exert energy to produce angular momentum which generates opposing torques in the front and back of their bodies to flip around in mid-air to as to land upright. Eventually the cat will tire of constantly wriggling its body to stay upright.

A few days ago some friend send me some SC4 files to prove it and since I have installed this new files my game turns much more slow... why... please help... I think this is part of Simtropolis crew, I dont know... maybe are some way to fix this problem... thanks for any hekp.

Hi guys, I'm back to SC4 after a few years and I was looking after some basic fixes and setups to run the game and its mods, but I've seen that Origin's version of the game is unpatchable (that is, can't og to 1.1.641.0), but when I see properties of game's file, it is written 1.1.641.0. How can I verify if the update was installed correctly? Should I buy GOG's version?
        Another few questions:
        1. Is CAM incompatible with SPAM and IRM? By the way, where can I find it?
        2. Where can I find some good tutorials for building airports and ports with custom props and lots?
        3. Is Cities Skylines really substituting this? Haha
        Cheers!

        INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION MOD

        GSK Packaging by Mattb325

        1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

I'd have to look up how many of Tag_One's BATs we have covered with the recent uploads, and rest assured that there will be more. However, today it's time to turn onto the finish straight for high-tech IRM with another author:
The 34th upload in this series, GSK Packaging, is the first of two BATs by Mattb325 that I decided to re-lot for the IRM. Back when I did these, I couldn't know that he'd release many more superb I-HT BATs, so they didn't make it into this pack and may come at a later point.
Anyway, back to the BAT: This one was quite the challenge to lot because it sits on a grass-covered hill that is part of the actual model - a very interesting setup that makes for much of this BAT's appeal IMO. However, it's always a tricky business to achieve a virtually seamless transition with textures, and since the BATted portion is shaded, putting regular props right next to it would have looked odd. Fortunately I could obscure part of the seam with a hedge, and use Cycledogg's shaded props rather extensively to try and blur the line between BAT and lot. Did I succeed? That's up to you to judge....
Why a new lot anyway? Well, while there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original one, I wanted to make sure some typical IRM features such as the standard lampposts etc. are present so it all blends together. This time around, both lots have the same footprint, but are pretty different in appearance. The first one has the building facing the road and a wall surrounding the parking lot, but it's not a perimeter wall so there's some open space left... with other industry growing around, this free outer perimeter of the lot outside the wall might look like part of the adjacent lot, hopefully helping to blur grid lines a bit. The second lot with the building side facing the road is rather closed and secluded on the left, but totally open to the right and back. It could look good on corners, or as the last building of an industry block.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.
The .sc4desc files for the regular version will look like this: IRM_[Filename].sc4desc
The .sc4desc files for the quadrupler version will look like this: IRM_[Filename]_x4.sc4desc
After downloading, simply delete the file of the version you don't want to use. If you leave both in your plugins, the quadrupler version will most probably override the default version.
The default version of the building will provide 42 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 168 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
4x5, Stage 2 (2 versions) For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):
Maxis Night with gradual day/night cycle: YES Maxis Night with static day or night: YES DarkNite* with static day or night: YES *DarkNite requires SimFox' Day and Nite Modd (or a similar darkening mod) to be installed in your plugins.

        2 - USE

If you extract this archive to your root plugins folder, it should create a folder IRM\IRM Expansion\[NAME OF BAT], where [NAME OF BAT] represents the name of this download item. Within that folder, you will find all the game-relevant files and a sub-folder containing the HTML readme and some screenshot(s).

If you no longer wish to use this download, proceed as follows:
Bulldoze all lots pertaining to this download Save all the cities and exit the game when you're done bulldozing Remove the associated files from your plugins folder Hint: Just to be sure, I recommend moving the undesired files somewhere else and doing some checks before you delete them permanently. This way, if it turns out you forgot to bulldoze something, you can add it back in temporarily until you're done.

        3 - DEPENDENCIES

IRM Base Pack with all its dependencies - while these lots will technically work, they are meant to tie into the IRM. They may look out of place and show unexpected behaviour if used independently. Since this is an extension to the IRM, all the dependencies of the original pack still apply. If you have them in place, you can download every single growable IRM and IRM W2W lot I have ever made and will never have to download any additional packs for props and textures used on the lot. GSK Packaging - you'll also need the original upload of the BAT to see the building(s). Only the .sc4model file is required. NOTE: For any dependency hosted at SC4Devotion (SC4D in short), you must be registered on that site and logged into the site's download area, the BSC File Exchange, in order to see the download button. Please bear in mind that there are separate logins for the forums and for the file exchange. TagFood by Tag_One

        1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

We are getting closer to the finish line, at least in terms of this batch of I-HT uploads.
The 33rd upload in this series, TagFood, is going to be the last one of Tag_One's creations for the high-tech sector. It is a pretty huge facility with offices, production & storage facilities and warehousing all in one building - modern food processing at its best! This time, the main challenge in terms of lotting was getting the lot textures to line up halfways naturally with main entrance, side entrances, back doors, and loading bays. I think I did OK in that respect if I may say so myself. Shaded props make another pretty nifty appearance here - I really like their effect. As usual, there's a choice of 2 lots, each with different footprints, different layout and the building at a different angle, but both will look particularly good on corners.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.

After downloading, simply delete the file of the version you don't want to use. If you leave both in your plugins, the quadrupler version will most probably override the default version.
The default version of the building will provide 125 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 500 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
6x5, Stage 3 6x6, Stage 3 For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):

        1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

Since I currently have some time on my hand (gasp), let's keep the uploads coming!
The 32nd upload in this series, Rena Electronics by Tag_One, is a very interesting BAT. Its basic box shape is accentuated by a few characteristic features such as the imposing, angled glass front, the wide skylights and the angled loading bays, which I tried to echo in the lot design using some angled textures and jestarr's wonderful 22.5° trucks. Not much else to say this time - I hope you like the result!

The default version of the building will provide 50 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 200 I-HT jobs.
