I have been wondering about this possible issue that's been appearing on my computer after I have downloaded lots & modds from Sim Tropolis and or Sim City 4 Devotion. After I had unzipped them, I've been seeing this message come up, "Get-User-Id" from ad-yieldmanager,com. I've have deleted all the files from Sim Tropolis and Sim City 4 Devotion that I've downloaded except for Nam 31.2 alrighty. I believe that one of my downloaded files has a virus in it. The reason why I deleled and removed the files from my computer. I wanted to see if that would stop the the message I mentioned in my post here from appearing. I don't know which file that I downloaded has the "Get-User-Id" ad-yieldmanager.com. I will not unzip any files that I have currently in my plugin files. I know that this site doesn't have viruses. So I thought I let know about this thing. I hope I don't see it today or anyday lol. I just recently purchased this computer and don't want it destroyed. And thanks for hearing me about this issue. I would like a response from some of you mayors alrighty.

Your Friend And Mayor Of Sim City 4;

Steven A. Whitehouse

Unless something has changed on the moderated exchanges, if you have a virus you got it elsewhere.  Both sites are very careful.  I suggest a virus scan instead of the panic you describe.  If you are not running a virus scanner with a download checker you are at risk.

I'd recommend one for you but I am on Linux and the one I use is not available for windows.

Erm, You didn't get that from here, nor did you get that from the LEX, you got that for "elsewhere"  LOL  A porn site most likely, or if not that then you got from another place maybe a torrent site.  You are going to have to go in and get rid of that off of your PC, it is called "malware", some antivirus programs will find things like that for you and clean or delete them for you, most of the time though, if you let them through your antivirus program you are going to have to find it yourself and get rid of it yourself.

Just find it on your PC, you say it is a new PC so finding it should not be difficult, it might be in multiple locations, locate ALL of it, once you have found it all, delete it, if there are some files you cannot delete because it gives you an error like "You cannot delete this file because it is running in another application. [retry] [cancel]", you will have to start your PC in "safe mode", to do this you need to restart your PC and tap repeatedly the 'F8' key during start up until your BIOS gives you the option to restart in "safe mode", if tapping does not work(all BIOS programs are different) retry the start up and this time hold the F8 key instead.  Once your PC has been started in "safe mode" no other programs are running except for windows and deleting anything that was obstructed before will now be possible.

Simtropolis and SC4Devotion are the safest sites I have ever come across on the Internet.

  • no I didn't download it, It started appearing after I had downloading from lots & mods from Sim Tropolis. @ Nonny, websites can be attacked by people that are angry with a certain website. No website is safe from virsus. However, they can be protected from virsus. I don't go to websites that are dangerous. This is a brand new computer I paid $859 for it. Because I saved for it lol. It took along time to save for this computer. And I've asked my brother to call geek squad to look into it he has the card from geek squad.

    Hm.....I must say that since I play SC4, I have N E V E R  downloaded anything from here and SCD4 that has something like a virus....and hey, brother.....I have downloaded more than 200 Gb's in the last 10 years. ;)

    That you paid $800+ for the computer and the fact that it is new doesn't mean that it is virus free, nothing to do with this.....lol...Do a check with a virus scan and/or adware program to see what you got and where it is from. Good luck.

    Both these sites are virusfree!

    If you follow my instructions you can save your GEEKSquad card for when you really need it.

    Download and install Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware Free Edition, do a full scan and Delete infected files.

    Isn't bad idea to use in future some kind of free antivirus program with built-in real time protection. Though I don't know which ones are on the top now - I stopped to use AVs (MBAM + Comodo Firewall + my own experience & knowledge = enough).

    You know, it is even possible that that problem came included with some of the bloatware that comes with a new machine.  I've no idea how careful vendors are these days.  That's one of the reasons I don't buy a machine loaded with any software at all.  Beyond the BIOS I want my machine naked as it came out of the plant.

    Same here, I would rather fork out the money for a fresh copy of Windows(I know you use Linux and it is free.) than to have it preinstalled with a bunch of added software I will never use and don't need and only takes up space I could use for other things, other more important things.

  • I'm going to call geek squad, because I have a one-year membership from them. And so does my brother. He currently has the card and I already asked him if he could give me the card so that I can call them tomorrow (Monday, September 15th, 2013).
